I swear. The bike is like a mud magnet,no use cleaning it all. I was thinking of removing the mud gaurd and getting a tail tidy kit. Now im just wishing that the mudgaurds were bigger.

about the oil, if you look at the owners manual (page 135), it actually lists Motul 7100 as a recommended brand along with the bajaj oil. so next time the service centre guys tell you it'll void your warranty just show him the manual with a big smile on your face

is anyone surprised with this result? I think not, with the kind of power to weight ratio, sharp handling & outright acceleration in any gear Duke is bound to win these types contests.

As for the Engine Oil Issue, i had written emails to all possible ids available and to my surprise i got a call from Mr. Ingle from Pune.

I asked him about the information that was given to me from ASC; whether it was authentic or not, to which he replied that MOTUL is one of the recommended brand and there is no question of voiding warranty.

Unfortunately, as he was travelling the call dropped and cud not speak to him in details.

This surely sounded like a relief.

          • Hi guys, I finally bought the Duke yesterday, but it's in Delhi and I will get it in Jammu by train on Tuesday, hope everything works out well.
I had to get the bike in a friends name, so are there any additional papers which I have to carry, or the R.C, insurance and puc will suffice, since these papers are not in my name.

No racetrack here in Kolkata. Just started exploring corners after getting the Duke. Wish I could get a track here!!

I think it's Mr. Pingle from Pune. He is actually travelling all over india conducting all those Owners meet sessions and is a good and humorous guy.

As the Bike is in your friends name, you'll need an authorization letter from your friend allowing you to ride the Bike legally. Other than this all normal papers need to be in place.

              • I hope my question does not class me into the "typical desi mileage bhaiyya" category, but what is the actual mileage the Duke returns after the run-in period ? Has someone checked using the old fashioned reserve-to-reserve or some other relatively more reliable technique than relying on the on-screen mileage reading ?

i filled 400 rs petrol and ran for 150 kms till it showed low fuel indicator and again filled 400 rs and ran 150 kms
                  here petrol rate is 85
                  so 800/85 is 9.411
                  and total distance is 300
so mileage is around 31 kms
with constant ripping and red lining it all the time

this method may not be accurate
                  by gives nearly approximate value
                  and over all
before 1st service i got an average of 42 km/lts
that is total amount of fuel used divided by 1000 kms !

NOTE - 60% highway driving and 40% city driving

Bro, i get around 36-38 (before 1st service, city riding) and around 40-24 (before 1st service, highway riding). Just did first service but i dont think i will make much difference as my riding style has not changed.

MHG.. Tank full to Tank full method... I get on city riding about 35 - 43kmpl after first service. Highway riding gives about 3-5kmpl extra... again if you ride sanely without too much of revving you should get about 40kmpl mark.... I did a full tank now 6.3 ltrs for 210 kms, that's about 33kmpl... I was driving around 80 - 110kmph for about an hour on the highway... therefore the mileage got hit a bit today.. otherwise you can expect close to 40kmpl all the time...

I haven't tested it by tankful to tankful method as there is reported issues for Duke while filling upto the brim. But I have followed this method - (1) Seen the low fuel warning in my Bike(Confirm if that warning is accurate as when it's nearing reserve sometime keeping the bike in side stand can display this light a bit earlier. In this situation if you take it for a ride, within minutes you'll see fuel bars coming back to the display, so in one word Confirm it). (2) I feel 5 litres of fuel exactly. (3) Ride it until the low fuel warning comes again.

In this way I found the mileage as 35 - 38 KMPL. My daily routine includes mostly city riding(Speed :- between 20 - 45 KMPH) for 30-40 minutes with maybe 20-30 minutes of Highway riding at around 50 - 80 KMPH speed. However, if I ride it a bit sanely I think I could manage max 40 KMPL overall figure.

Hey.. i follow exactly the same method to calculate the mileage and get the same figures of 36-38. My daily ride is from home to office and back with occasional detours, mostly sane riding of 35-55 kmph. Max achieved in city is 38, with a bit of highway riding max achieved 40.

Yep, I think anyone supposed to get an overall figure of 35 - 38 if not ripped. If ripped it could be 30 around and if ridden sanely between the economical range it can give 40 around. My daily riding is also office to home, but as the distance is only 5 Kms(one way) I have changed the route(while returning from office) and made it 25 Kms , so in total 5 + 25 = 30 Kms . I just love riding this Bike.

Yep. It seems logical to return 30+- once you rip it. But that's a good figure considering the power it gives.

I have not tested this thing yet. But some of the users have reported this, so I was a little scared. If you consider the price of fuel it's almost becoming equivalent to GOLD, only in liquid form.
