Well i spoke to customer care 1800-232-2453 in the morning and they CC guys were singing in the same tune that using motul or any other brand will void warrant. Additionally they were asking me that i only went to Authorized SC and not any road side mechanicOriginally posted by hunkofgals View PostIts pretty much bad on their part
u must have argued with them
and if u have attended the DIY session conducted in ur city they have given a DVD to everyone regarding the bike and few DIY jobs , in that they clearly mentioned MOTUL 7100 and bajaj dtsi oil can be used
if it was me , i would have shove the DTSI oil right into his throat and make him fill MOTUL
.
Planning to email the customercare ppl with the scanned manual and picture of the bottle which shows the grade.

Well i wish it was that easy here. Here the tieup with motul has broken down and hence they dont want customers using motul oil (loss to them in terms of oil sales).Originally posted by devil_rider View PostWe can use Motul 7100 20W50 FS in Duke.. In fact, the Mumbai svc guys have started keeping stock of Motul with them so that customers who are willing to put Motul can opt for that.

So, don't worry about the warranty.. It will do just fine
The Page 3 from the DIY session file states that we can use Motul 7100.Last edited by Janesh.J; 06-08-2012, 01:39 PM.30+ YEARS OF RIDING

Tech junkies, please add/clarify/trash this...Originally posted by rx100.7050 View PostI want to add something interesting to the experts here.
Does it really matters if the water enters exhaust pipe? I don;t think so. To make a damage, the water has to enter into the intakes of the engine. So, from a design perspective, it's almost impossible to have water completely inside the engine as the engine is placed a bit higher than the exhaust tip. In cars too, I guess, unless the water doesn't enter the air intake, nothing to worry about! Since the ground clearance of cars are lower than that of a bike, thee may seem to have a lesser edge than bike."HASTA LA VICTORIA, SIEMPRE !" - Chesigpic

I am no tech junkie, but I think it is a valid point. As long as water does not enter the engine internals, there should not be a problem. The only way is through the air intake. The air intake is pretty high up in all bikes, so there should not be any problem.Originally posted by rx100.7050 View PostTech junkies, please add/clarify/trash this...
The only thing that may get damaged is the catcon, as it is very near to the exhaust tip.

Noise from the console!
From the last 2 days, there is some weird noise coming from the console when the bike is running at more than 4k rpm. Earlier I though its the metal keys hitting each other & hence I removed it to cross check. But the noise is definitely coming from the console.
Went to SVC & the person told me that its normal & its the socket creating such noise.
Anyone among you also faced this issue? Any possible solution?Hero Honda Karizma

Just spoke to Mr. Pravin of Ghatkopar KTM Service Centre.. He said that 7100 is absolutely fine and they are still supplying it at the service centre itself.
It will not void the warranty of the motorcycle.

Didn't the showroom guys give you the trick at the time of delivery? I was told specifically that it needs a little nudge to the right when you try to lock it.Originally posted by arjun_c2 View PostThanks dude
... it worked.. Good i dont hav to spend a sleepless night
Let the weekend come bro. I'll think about an experiment tomorrow morning.Originally posted by joel_sherly View Postif you come up with any solution to the noise..please do share it..
You probably are right, given that the engine is not off for prolonged periods. Any water will be spitted out by the exhaust when the engine is switched on. The manual though advices to seal the exhaust to avoid water getting in while washing the bike.Originally posted by rx100.7050 View PostTech junkies, please add/clarify/trash this...
This I think is another common malady plaguing the duke. But strangely my super sensitive ears have not yet picked it upOriginally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostFrom the last 2 days, there is some weird noise coming from the console when the bike is running at more than 4k rpm. Btw touched 120 kph today. Ahh what fun. Did not take it further though.Later sometime. Will visit the svc tomorrow to get a proper solution for the wheel alignment problem and the chain/front sprocket kat-kat sound which am sure are interrelated.
The duke is gonna be super dirty in the monsoons surely. The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

hey guys i'm new to xbhp..
used to ride a bullet 350 earlier and even though the duke is a completely different bike, i've really wanted and and on tuesday i finally got one.....and thats when the first rains hit the city
. it was raining when i took delivery of the bike and by the time i reached my house it was covered in mud.. been riding it a lot the past few days. have completed about 500 kms on the bike.. unfortunately also have had my first accident with it... a minor skid because of the rains and the rear wheel's tendency to lock.. End result is a broken mirror, a few scratches front mudgaurd, head light, and the stickering on the tank.. feeling really bad about it because the bike is absolutely brilliant, especially the availible torque that it has across a wide range. cant wait to use it to its maximum potential after the run in.. right now just obsessing about the scratches.. btw has any1 noticed the insane tendency of the bike to cover itself with mud in a short time.. im not talking only about the mud on the rear shock and swingarm but also on the rear seat and MY BACK!!
i havent done any modifications to the rear mudgaurd but still mud everywhere... is anyone else having this problem?

The service centre guys at Mangalore also have no problems if you use Motul. Id say your service centre people are just ignorant or maybe theyre just jealous coz you have a DukeOriginally posted by Janesh.J View PostWell i spoke to customer care 1800-232-2453 in the morning and they CC guys were singing in the same tune that using motul or any other brand will void warrant

. either way i dont think theyll be able to void your warranty because the manual doesnt specify "use only X brand".
I agree with him. have seen a couple of videos of motorcyclists, not sure which country, crossing flooded roads with ordinary motorbikes with the water coming all the way to the headlamp. they seem to have no problems at all. the only modification they did was attach a tube to the air filter like a chimmney so that water doesnt go in.Originally posted by sonu611 View PostI am no tech junkie, but I think it is a valid point.
