The engine power or capacity has nothing to do with your bikes moving! Your clutch adjustment is at fault! The clutch is supposed to disengage transmission completely when fully pressed! Please get your clutch adjusted your bikes are riding the clutch if they move.Originally posted by chiragsthakur View Post

That's why I asked... I don't think I have given you any reason to pity me as all I did was simply ask a ques to the people I thought would know best about the bike.. but I pity you for converting such a fiendly question in a personal battle and answering so roughly on a friendly place like xbhp... anyway still nothing against you.. cheers..Originally posted by ynike99 View PostWell if u think that its a mix of fz and impulse then seriously you need to vvisit an eye surgeon.regarding justification for price tag our duke has power Of 25 bhp and the power of both bikes u mentioned together equals 27 bhp.then theres usd forks, bybre brakes, trellis frame and overall quality of the materials used.but if u cant distinghuish between silver and platinum i really pity u.if u are comfortable paying 1.2 for r15 then shouldnt 1.3 for a bike which beats it on track justified? Duke 200 sells upwards of 3 lacs in other countries, 5 in some.fz gives you 14 bhp in 75000, duke gives 25 in 131000.do the math. This is a duke ownership thread mate, post your queries elsewhere.
Mods, could you do the needful?

Thanks bro for making it clear to me.. I guess I should be taking a test drive of this bike to know its complete potential..Originally posted by NiXTriX View PostI agree with ASSASSIN07. The Duke. And its not only me. You can have a look at the previous posts and threads on Facebook as well. In fact, its become a menace and we literally have to shoo away people flocking around the bike.

I've seen this on the bike at PRS as well, and as far as I know, there isn't a lot can be done bout it, yetOriginally posted by Janesh.J View PostGuys,
Yesterday after a short ride in the evening i noticed some green fluid around the neck of the rubber pipe connecting the radiator. I felt maybe there was some coolant locked into the joint which had come out, bt today morning after a short ride there was more coolant coming out.
Couldn't agree more, that's what I've told my friend who got his R15 couple of months back, which according to this run-in, he's getting 53kmpl now !Originally posted by VindyTheRider View PostIts better you'd rather ride in a normal fashion and use more engine breaking to give your pistons a proper work out..
Just dont rev up you bike to high RPM's when its cold..
Also about the fact that people say that synthetic oil holds in longer than mineral oils I would'nt completely agree with that either..

This happened to me at the Ghatkopar svc.. two guys who came to fix their pulsar or something were checking the bike out.. i was totally cool with that.. But i was really pissed when one of them sat on the bike.. i was really gonna change the geography of his face with my fist but then the guy said sorry and went to his own bike..Originally posted by joshzma225 View PostThere's the answer to your engine oil question.
And hey about the people randomly coming and trying to swing a leg over your bike, I completely understand what you must be going through!!! I mean when you see a superbike parked somewhere you just look at it, you have the decency not to jump on to someone else's personal property...I'm seriously gonna stick a pin into the seat...pointy side up...just gotta remember to remove it when I get back to ride though :-D
The same incident happened to me when I went to the Phoenix mills KTM SVC and parked my bike outside the SVC to go collect some money I had left there. Before I knew it 3 Miya Bhais, OR Bantai's were happily taking turns sitting on the bike. When I asked what the huck they were doing one of them apologized, but the other two were like "kya karega bhe? mussal mat dikhao" And I just wished I had a friggin gun with a silencer to shoot their extremities off!!! The security and another by stander soon intervened before I ended up sticking a money wrench up their...@#$% But seriously an immobilizer with Electric Shock passing through the bike would be a godsend!!!

Many people mistake the Duke as an off-road motorcycle.. It is NOT.. It's a naked sports motorcycle.. Impulse and FZ are good in their own segments but you can never compare them with the Duke.. Duke is really "Class Apart"Originally posted by lovish View PostNothing against the bike and its owners.. I have never rode the bike and please forgive me if it offends you in anyway but don't you think this bike looks exactly like a mixture of Impulse and FZ .. and paying 1.25 lacs for it are a little too high... that's what I felt on 1st looks to it.. don't know whether am right or not.. kindly put some light on the justification for the price tag
Thanks..

good one dude.. ROFLOriginally posted by The Mountain View PostAs a possible solution for preventing inconsiderate people from sitting on your bike, my thought was a piece of sheet metal with 3-inch nails pushed through it. Attach two metal straps to it on one edge, pass them under the seat, and lock them to the other side of the sheet with a padlock. Make sure the straps are short enough that there is no slack. That way your seat becomes unusable while parked.
That, or tell them you're going to have sex with their girlfriends; after all, they seem to have no problem with invasions of personal space.

Duke is heating up
hello guys
my bike is heating up alot in the traffic.. is that common with all dukes!! though in the console its not showing full bar temp, its really hard to sit on bike.. i feel like i am sitting near a firecamp.
please tell me its my bikes problem and can be fixed... if its not i should think of making it only for weekend/month end rides!!
though its oil cooled bike i just wonder wat the heck is wrong. when i checked with service guy he is giving all nonsense reasons! he said " sir this is not normal bike sir, 25bhp bike very powerful, heat is common!! " I just wonder if the the same happens with cbr250/r15 being a fairy. Never heard of anything with other bikes. they made duke mainly for city ride and if the city ride itself becomes annoying where should I go, i use it for daily usage!!!
please suggest me with something for this...

New engine tends to heat up quite a bit.. It will gradually reduce but won't go very low.
The only thing I can suggest is that get yourself Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant.. It will bring down the heat level considerably..
But it is quite high priced.. 1300 bucks for about 2 litre bottle. The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

Coolant Leak contd...
HI,
In reference to yesterday's post regarding coolant leak, i have found a temporary solution, it is holding good till now even after riding in peak summer afternoon for more than 15 kms i b2b traffic.
I applied a generous amount of feviquick around the neck of the joint in the morning and took the bike for a spin, and there was no leakage. Then as above, rode in b2b traffic, and no leaks.
But this is not a solution to our problems. I feel the rubber pipe is the culprit as it is loosing its grip due to heat and has become soft so the clamp cannot hold it in place. Check the picture as to how i applied the fix. There are few spots of green coolant that wz oozing out when i pressed the pipe.

Ask the svc guys to inform you as soon as the part arrives and keep a check by calling occasionally.. or else they won't pay that much attention.
Also, write in a mail to Bajaj Customer Care ([email protected]) about this issue..Last edited by devil_rider; 05-29-2012, 02:13 PM.The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

Thanks bro, will follow up with them and even email bajaj. The pipe quality is suspicious as it becomes too soft after getting heated.Originally posted by devil_rider View PostGood work bro.. But u still get it replaced under warranty as soon as the part is available.

Coolant leakage(not overspill), faulty fork seal leading to fork oil leakage, bent rims when deep craters are encountered, fuel spilling from on a full tank, chipped swingarm, the occasional sound of a thud which comes when the bike meets a bump, fuel sensors gone awry in a few cases, atleast one case of engine seizure I am aware of.
During the maintenance work I did on the bike 2-3 days back, I noticed that the plastic used in the front mud gurad is also a bit flimsy(may be to keep the weight less). The FZ mud guard standing next felt a lot sturdy.
These are all quality issues IMO and Bajaj should have done proper quality checks before releasing the bike. It does take away from the KTM reputation and Bajaj should ensure that future dukes are free from all these issues.
The CBR 250R was panned across this forum for having 'less 'premium' plastics, rust accumulating bolts, paint chipping off from the engine and a few engine niggles. The duke when launched was lauded by almost everyone for the quality that was being offered for the price and relative to it's rivals(read CBR). I hope the quality is not only limited to the plastics(which indeed appear 'premium'.
The one thing going for the duke is its radical and really likeable design and character(be it the riding stance, engine note, the high and fast revving engine) which probably the ceeber was lacking. These endear the duke to all and sundry and makes them overlook some of the issues which certainly are there.May be this is the reason, I have not come across a single member here taking an 'anti-duke' stance. The duke enjoys a shroud of defence here in this forum which I like being an owner btw
.A lot like the Ninja 250 perhaps, only that bike doesn't have any issues, not any that I am aware of.
I hope Bajaj takes care of all these niggles. I really don't get why Bajaj could not get the Duke right the way it did for the Ninja.
Ok. May be because they did not only assemble the duke.
Bad quality checks Bajaj. Get your act right if you want to shrug off the perception that you use the customer base to test your bikes
