Why would that be a concern. If the service center does not stock Motul, it is available at most auto-spares shops. In Mumbai and Pune at least, I do not know of any shortage of Motul 7100. Also, some service center's already stock it for servicing the Ninja's.

Have been riding my duke for around a week... First day ride was awesome... Filled the tank to full - fuel leaks!!! Done some 100 k on the day 1. Coolant leak spotted but fixed without doing anything.
Day 2 did a 30 k ride ... On both the days raced the bike well n hard but below 7.5-8k rpm mark. Usually in the band 5-7.5 k.

Day3,4 rest , from day5 till date (day 11) using ma duke for office commuting...

On day6 the fuel low message was indicated at around just 225k so filled 2.5L normal shell for 200 bucks... And now at around 310k fuel indicator shows low - so inspite of the unreliable avg mileage indicator I would say 90k/2.5L is the possible mileage given...

Filled again for 300 bucks yesterday. After that done around 60 kms... but the indicator dropped to 2 bars now... (above the low indicator level)... Guess it would make another 40 - 50 kms before dropping to the bunk again...
(i could say avg - 34 - 36 kpl, leaving out the first full tank fill resulting in leak)

For the ride, I maintain the ride at around 5-7.5k, at the max 8k rpm band(when puzzled in the useless chennai traffic signals) with an approx shift speed as below:
          1 gear - upto 20k@ 5k rpm
          2nd gear - upto 35k @5k
          3rd - 45- 50 @ 5-6k
          4th - 55- 75 @ 6-7.5 k
          5th - 60 - 85 @ 6-7.5k
          6th - 65 - 105 @ 6-8k max

First 2 days faced problem in finding neutral but now set, a gentle tap from 2nd gear lands on N but yet not possible from gear 1.

The engine feels really stressed in the first 2 gears... If tried to maintain below 5k rpm. However in heavy traffic, 2&3 gears would suffice.

Sometimes it's really hard to even cruise at 80 kph due to heavy wind blast... Need some solution.

The worst problem would be... False gear shifts may occur if not well concentrated upon shifting anywhere between 3-5 gears... I mean u would close the throttle shift and release throttle to find u r in the same gear - this is not the bikes fault though, needs some getting used to...

Due to the riding posture... It's giving less confidence to bend in curves however the grips n suspension are excellent...

The ride is grunty but yet feels at times there are some loose parts making noise... Could not pin point the spots!!! And also when cruising at high speeds... In case of a distant signal - red when u close throttle and engage clutch when u downshift a noise is heard something similar to spinning a washer on a bolt... Can't explain it... But sounds techno

And now... 370kms done... Avg kpl shown 33 :/

Comments feedback suggestion advice n discussion are welcome ... Duke nuke'em

Waiting for suggestions guys for the above post... and btw ... now the odo clocks 434kms...

Got the knack of riding the duke "slow"... 6th gear for 70 :P.. :P :P...

But still having new issues now...

Coolant level is at "minimum"... and probiking sowroom was closed today :S :S:S

Gear problem prevails... false gears... or i suspect it to be too hard ... while downshifting...

Mileage was increased i suppose... I filled for 300 (3.7L@Shell) when the odo clocked ~300 and it came to low level only when it touched ~433 ... guess it maintains the average 36 KPL mark...

Need to do something about the gear, coolant liquid... And ofcourse the engine still seems to be tired under 5k rpm at 1 and 2 and sometimes struggles during downshifts...

Did good bends in a couple of free fly-overs ... and man... ear to ear grin guarenteed

Suggestions on my previous post and advice for my bike's condition are welcome

PS - I would require a dust cover - constuction near my house
Any bike wiz out ther who can solve the problems faced by a fellow duker ???

Update - Now odo clocks 476 kms ...

I feel like the gear lever is kinda too hard to make the shifts, Esp downshifts... also the bike struggles while throttling after downshifting ... However on highr rpm it behaves well... Any idea wats wrong??? And also today I travelled in one of the worst possible traffic ya cud face... Not a shift above 2nd gear literally moved inch by inch for around 2 kms... The mileage gauge which showed 2.2L/100km suddenly dropped down to 6L/100km and web I reached home it showed 4.3L/kmsuch sudden n huge variations??? The engine however was too hot n radiator started working n it was on for like 15 mins... I would like to make sure my beloved duke is alright false gears, hard shifts and an inaccurate mileage display with minimum coolant oil makes me worried

In short Im just concerned about the hard gear shifts , false shifts at times and the stressed engine at lower RPMs and lower gears...

I would highly appreciate if any of u bike wiz's could read my previous posts and provide suggestions!!!

i guess this is common with bajaj manufactured bike. even my p220 has the same issue right after the first service. how much ever i have asked bajaj to rectify this they have no been able to do so

Thanks, how is the actual throw of the headlight beam? Sounds like it will be adequate.

I am facing occasional (happens about once in 100Km on long rides.) gear shift troubles post first service. Only while shifting from 5th to 6th at 80+ speeds. The bike finds a false neutral about a second after I shift! Can somebody point out what could be the problem?

                        No problem mate! Looks good!
The duke needs to be slotted to gear a common thing usually in two strokes! (Strange for a four stroke though)
I ve noticed that when shifted normally there are two steps form 5 to 6 one way to over come that false neutral is following " You pep it You change the gear" The moment u start applying throttle shift up that is the smoothest way, the gear change will be seamless.

There isn't any price drop as such. Paid the full amount today. Infact there's an increase of Rs.180 from today due some insurance % hike.Chennai OnRoad price : 1.374Lakh.
