What is the service interval (KMs/days) of d200?
    Does it need RON95 petrol?

Drain it and check. It could be rust or engine oil mixed in to it. Its definitely not normal.
Did you change brand of coolant or add any additive in the coolant ? And i hope some miscreant hasn't opened the coolant cap and put some coca cola in to it !

Yes, while the coca cola bit is funny . It is true that people have the habit of fiddling with other peoples property. Its sad really how people have no respect for other peoples rides. But in this case I feel its highly unlikely. And milky would be the colour if engine oil was mixed in it. Right?

brown is definitely not the color of any type of coolant...
do check with the ASC asap...!!!

and talking about miscreants... my friend had his Duke's all 4 indicators & 2 mirrors broken by some asshole...
and another friend got his coolant cap opened & filled with sand... [emoji19] [emoji58] [emoji58]

Hello guys back after quite some time...

I have been noticing the coolant level getting reduced lately (color is still green).

My ride is 22 months old and clocked 12.5k kms so far with a daily run of 25 kms. Got the coolant topped up (80% to the Max mark) in my previous service that was 2.5k kms and 3 months back. Now it has reached exactly to Min mark, Will be visiting the svc to top it up and run for one more month until the next service.

              Have following questions:

              • Has the Coolant reached its end of life and needs a replacement ASAP? (Read somewhere coolants lasts for 24 months or 20-25K kms)
              • Where is the missing coolant? (No visible leakages, does is it get evaporated? or getting mixed with engine oil due to some leakage inside the engine?)

Engine oil (7100) is just 1.5K kms old and will take a look at its color and post a picture of it soon for better clarity!

Need some help from you expert guys!

              Thanks,
              Srvn

Service interval is 120 days/5000 kms.

No it runs fine with RON91, IMHO RON95 doesn't make much difference!

Am not sure how you guys are filling up the coolant. First the Radiator needs to be filled up, and then you have top up the coolant reservoir to its 'max' level.
If your coolant is vanishing in such a short period, then it is not normal. You need to check the engine oil color to do further diagnostics. I had posted a simple juggad test earlier.
Water/coolant will sizzle, while if its just oil it should only smoke without sizzling. But again this is not a fool proof test, just a quick juggad.

I checked with them today regarding restro fitting this fan/fan shroud on the older dukes. Even they are not sure yet, and told me that they need to look at the part numbers to confirm.

Do tell us about the fan shroud I you hear something. Its quite useful. Though I am sure if you can't mod the fan then you can simply buy and fit the new one.

                    • Update at 36000 km

I have been having issues with the bike for some time now.
                      1) Ride quality : The ride has become absolutely bumpy. It's almost as if the suspensions are not there. I suspect I need to redial my suspension(not sure which one or both?) or get them replaced. Though I think the forks should last much longer and a plain oil change might do the trick. Not so sure about the rear one. It makes a lot of screeching noise when the rear is pushed down, the bike being stationary. Anyone has any experience changing the oil or playing with the rear shock?

                      2) Sluggishness : The bike refuses to pull after 115-120 kmph in 6th. Though it will reach 134-135 somehow but with a lot of coaxing. The old instant surge is absent.

This is even evident in 4th and 5th gear.

                      3) Vibrations : I can feel it when pushed beyond 80 in 4th and 100 in 5th. In general at around 8k rpm, the bike kind of hits a wall and I have to bulldoze through the vibes to attain triple digit speeds. it's very annoying. I had changed my clutch plates the last time I serviced my bike on the advice of the emch and engineer hoping the bike would feel more eager. It did for a while but it's back to the vibey protesting monster. I suspect the shims need replacement, may be the cam chain too? My engine has never been opened and I think it needs a bit of an overhaul now that it's 36k on the odo. Will get the svc to look into it the next.

                      4) gear shifts are not slick anymore. Especially 4th to 5th. I have had countless misshifts of late. The gear would suddenly dangle in between 4th and 5th when an upshift is tried with the engine protesting in a scream. Need to get that sorted. I am dreading the svc 'advising' a replacement of the gear box.

Btw I decided to ride without gear to office today. This was after days spent in getting soaked in sweat in the Mumbai October heat. And my wretched luck ensured that I take a fall today.Right infront of my office gate. It was minor however with a small bruise and a sightly hurt knee and a sore left palm while the bike escaped with only a bent leg guard, but does drive home this point :
You never know when and where you will run out of luck.
This happened when my ride almost finished in front of my gate and I was already thinking about office stuff.

sure, will let you know. a new radiator fan assy costs around 1.5k i think..
I am wondering if i should poke a few holes with a hot screwdriver at the top of this fan shroud to let more air out. This evening i'll be covering up the coolant cap, rear brake reservoir cap with a piece of some black cover (from the wine shop lol)and tape. That way i will at least know if someone tried to mess with it. Still looking for a suitable hose clamp to place around these. Already some bugger has started fiddling with the gear shift.
I also picked up one each of the coolant, rear brake reservoir and oil filler caps ..all together for Rs.41. Call me paranoid.
The oks chain spray seems to be good.. i saw the price of it at their workshop, it was Rs.340 for a 500ml can i think. I have a rolon can that i picked up for 130rs @120ml..bad deal. I think i'll pick up a bottle of oks after i go thru the rolon, sometimes am too lazy to put the effort and use the gear oil.
Does anyone know where I could get a grunge brush ? I couldn't find one offline or online..

Woah bro :O where do you park your bike man? Isn't there a guard or something at your building? Also I found that rather than making your bike look like trash art LOL you can go ahead and buy a nice cover for it to deter those who sit on your bike and fiddle with it. Also deters cats (my friend replaced 3seat covers, He has a cat problem in his building) and keeps your bike clean but do get one that can be tied nice and tight. Oks chain spray is good in fact but the real problem is that most of the time the ktm guys don't stock chain cleaner spray.

Also don't look online for the brush. In fact your best source for it would be the local tools market (try at the electric motor spares and repair shops for best results). Alternately try asking the ktm guys most of the times they can get you the best deals. And if nothing works get a piece of cruciform metal and some toothbrush heads and make an awesome JUGAD. Cheers 😊

[MENTION=48967]Doga[/MENTION] bro, most of your problems seem to be related to the fact that you bike has done 36000 kms. Though with sane riding it should run more without an overhaul. But you never know. The clutch adjustment alone will not help because I think you're loosing compression bro. Get a compression test done for power loss. And for gear shift issue tell mech to check the shifter shaft. In most cases an adjustment and cleaning will do the trick but in rare cases it might need replacing.

As for the suspension the squeaking to screeching sound means its time to replace. Does the bike seem lower than before to you? If so change the shock absorber because its lived its life out. The added vibes definitely means conrod issue. Also get the throttle body cleaned just to be safe. Hope this helps. Cheers 😊

The front and rear turn signals were flashing all the way like hazard lights. Also the turn signal indicator on the console kept flashing constantly. What could be the reason? Is it because some sensor got wet due to rain water seeping in? Will this stop when the sensors dry?
