Re: KTM 200 Duke
Is there any drain pipe/hole in the fuel tank opening to drain the water getting collected in the top. Last time, I think I have a bit of water entered inside the tank with the fuel when i opened the tank and it stops my engine at times. Also what might be the worst case scenario if a bit of water mix with petrol

Yes.. there is a small drainage hole to the left side...Originally posted by RRB View PostIs there any drain pipe/hole in the fuel tank opening to drain the water getting collected in the top. It must be clogged with some dirt or something...do clean it with some pointy object...
Worst case scenario in this case will be water entering your fuel filter & into the fuel pump...which will require a fuel pump replacement...

If water has already entered inside the tank, there is very little you can do except to remove the tank and drain out the contents. A little water might not affect the fuel pump as such but would result in the bike stuttering and probably shutting down frequently.Last edited by s1d; 10-29-2014, 11:28 PM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi guys ,
My D200 is 15k kms old and i have been taking very good care of it (i.e regular cahin lubing cleaning water washes checks services and all) unfortunately i met with an accident while returning after donating blood . I didnt have breakfast and didnt take the juice that they offered me properly as i was in a hurry to reach the office .. and i was rolling at 50km\hr and i got dizzy and before i could reailse what was happening rammed onto a rock on the road and fell down and broke my leg too .
It seemed like just a casual fall but my bike took heavy damage including my chasis got bent , front tyre torn, rim broken, rear brake lever broken , and pillion footrest too broke off.The thing is in the SVC my chasis was changed to a new one. and since then my bike is keeping on giving me troubles.
First my whole front part of the bike from handlebar to tyre were all shaking and jolting separately on bumps , while braking etc and within few days front fork started leaking oil then the SVC guys checked and replaced the part that connects the front and the chassis something they said a "Razor" and fixed the fork and still i had those bumps coming again for a few weeks and these guys said it will take a little time for it to get seated .. and likewise since two months the bumps stopped
then i found a problem thats annoying me too much .. my bike's handling is not like old times its not smooth when i try to corner the head is rotating or moving too much and jolting me back straight .. since then am not able to confidently make a turn and also when i brake a little tight the front portion of the bike is turning too much out of my control sort of chucking me out in front
.. the SVC guys are also not able to find out the problem and am not able to trust my bike like old times and its also acting hard on bumps and there is a constant feedback onto the handlebars which has never happened to me before the fall. Any body has any idea of what could be wrong ?? Is it the fork ? or is the chassis change affectign my bike or bad assembly while putting up the new chassis pls help. Any advise on how to rectify this.?My Ride-KTM DUKE 200

Cleaned it with an ear bud and a small screw driver.Originally posted by s1d View Postthis is the vent hose:

The water entered is little, it had shut off the engine a couple of times and started after a few cranks, also stutters at heavy acceleration.

bro...so do inspect the fuel filter & fuel pump thoroughly by the ASC or a good mechanic...Originally posted by RRB View PostThanks vjay and s1d, I found the drain hole and it was indeed clogged. Cleaned it with an ear bud and a small screw driver.

else it might lead to power loss while accelerating...

That is definitely a nasty fall, and the damage to man and machine was considerable.Originally posted by The APPATUCK3R View Postand i was rolling at 50km\hr and i got dizzy and before i could reailse what was happening rammed onto a rock on the road and fell down and broke my leg too .

If the rim was broken, then am sure the front forks would have been damaged too, not just the chassis.
Setting up the front end is a tricky job (new parts alone will not help if the assembly is not done properly) - which involves replacing forks, the steering stem bearings or cone-set as its locally called, setting up the triple clamp and putting them together correctly. If this part of the job is not carried out correctly, you will have the issues that you have mentioned.
You do have insurance for the bike right ? Am surprised the svc did not mention the 'fork' bend/replacement.. because that's usually the first thing they mention in such accident cases. But again in rare cases the forks might have not been bent/damaged, but the workmanship of putting them together might be the source of your problems.
Do write in to ktm on their email if the svc isnt making any progress on fixing things up for you.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thanks s1d ! i have taken it again to the SVC the guy there has asked for two days time to check the front assembly but he feels the fork need not be replaced. As it already had leaked oil from the fork i suspect something ought to be wrong there .The SVC is having lot of prior appointments due to festival rush so will get to know if the problem will be fixed by next week and if it persists then will surely write up to KTM. BTW thanks for the manual.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
the fork oil seal leak is a common issue on the dukes. it doesn't have to be in an accident to sprout a leak. the newer dukes come with an extra dust boot/seal.Originally posted by The APPATUCK3R View Postit already had leaked oil from the fork i suspect something ought to be wrong there
because you are the (periya?
)appatucker , i think you should write to ktm right now and explain it to them and inform them that the bike is at the workshop.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hey Guys,Originally posted by Balgi View PostI think I might have the same problem. I am going to the svc tomorrow to get it sorted. So let me get back you on this.
To update the lagging problem on the duke. First off the old dukes don't have the metal restraint on the opening of the petrol tank. this thing is very important as this prevents fuel from being sprayed directly on to the fuel pump which sits directly underneath it. this is what happened to my bike. since fuel was constantly directly sprayed on to the fuel pump with great force thanks to the laziness of the bunk attendant and also thanks to my lack of foresight, the fuel pump is now ruined and only sprays fuel into the throttle body with half strength which is causing the lagging issue.
Please all KTM owners it is my sincere request to you to F@#$ing educate these bastard pump attendants as and when necessary. And I also caution you not to allow them to bend or torsion the metal restraint on the new dukes petrol tank to get the nozzle further in. A little exercise for their wrist while holding the nozzle and spraying fuel lightly into the tank is not going to hurt the pump attendant's girly hands and wrists.
Take care and exercise caution.
Cheers

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I need some serious help here. Do any of you have Ktm higher officials phone number? I need to talk to them. The service engineer is not responding properly. I need to talk to someone who will be able to help me with the SVC guys here. My duke 200 was with them for more than 20 days for the infamous rattling noise from the engine. The engine head assembly is changed under warranty, but they're charging me rs.1200 for the valves and oil seal alone which had to be under warranty too as it's not my mistake.
My odo shows only 5k kms and I reported for this problem at 2k kms. They said that they changed the engine head assembly once at 2k kms, I don't know if they really did (when I first reported to them). But the engine sound wasn't back to normal. They asked me to drive with that noise and I did for the next 3k kms . (Now it's 5k kms on odo)After so much of nagging, they made me wait for more than 20 days, changed the head assembly again and they're charging me for something I don't have to pay.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please do reply ASAP it's very urgent.
I'm from Chennai. Talking about Ktm service mogappair.Last edited by Arvind95; 10-31-2014, 11:43 PM.
