Re: KTM 200 Duke
As usual.. Insist on a pre delivery inspection..Originally posted by xplod566 View PostHey guys i just booked the Duke 200 2016 model.anything specific I need to check
Check the vehicles serial number..
Check coolant oil level..
Check tires..
Check odo meter..
Check for scratches..
Crank the bike and keep it in idle and see if you hear any odd noise..
Rev it a little and see if you find any abnormal noise....
Also ask for the SVC guys to apply bolt retainer solution to the side stand's mounting bolt.
They didn't apply that on my bike and the end result was a loose side stand after a 500kms ride..
Check for the chain slack too.. Some times they over tighten the chains...
Head light focus adjustment.. By default.. It should be fine.. But still

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thanks paradox I will get those checked.my initial choice was cbr250r.I still like the bike but I think for city its too heavy(specially in Bangalore)more importantly I like the looks of the cbr250r in red.looks just smashing hot.but after test riding I found the d200 to be more practical and then low range and mid is good.for the CBR the mid range is where power starts and k think in bangalore or city traffic it's gonna be a bit of problem.also I am a rider who hardly does the highway trips and even if I don't go above 80kmph as I feel the roads aren't safe to do any more speed on a bike without abs.Originally posted by paradoxr9019 View PostAs usual.. Also fuel efficiency was a concern for me and d200 should give a good fe I believe if driven sedately as on city i don't open throttle and would like to stay at 65kmph.the only thing that I was kind of relied towards CBR was the reliability as i had a terrible experience with bajaj and don't want that to repeat again. But then I heard the newer dukes are pretty awesome and absolutely reliable

"I still like the bike but I think for city its too heavy its gearing is tall for just city use..Originally posted by xplod566 View PostThanks paradox I will get those checked.my initial choice was cbr250r.
I found the d200 to be more practical and then low range and mid is good." (Very short gearing) - very true
"I am a rider who hardly does the highway trips and even if I don't go above 80kmph as I feel the roads aren't safe to do any more speed on a bike without abs. "
Its good to know.. But like I said earlier.. I don't know whether its localised with my bike alone or others as well.. The fueling at 1.5k to 4k rpm feels choppy.. So you would feel like shifting at 4.5k or 5k rpm
It's a rev happy engine.. She will easily rev..

"Also fuel efficiency was a concern for me and d200 should give a good fe I believe if driven sedately as on city i don't open throttle and would like to stay at 65kmph."
D200 may give you only marginal difference when compared with the CBR.. When you get used to the acceleration, the fe will reduce further.. Due to your riding of course :P
"i had a terrible experience with bajaj and don't want that to repeat again. But then I heard the newer dukes are pretty awesome and absolutely
reliable"
Well.. I too had a bajaj and due to its issues, I sold it and got an r15 but Yamaha's SVC guys are not so honest and they rip you off everytime you go to change a spare.. That's why I sold it..
But with KTM, we are getting European standard export quality stuff for cheaper price..
KTMs are reliable but they too have niggles..
if maintained properly And you are lucky enough, you may not face those issues..
Start to know your bike.. It will make your life easier..

What do y'all think of the BMW g310???
It so loaded with technology from engine TI exhausts. It might be costly but I think its gonna be worth it.although we say its BMW but its gonna be made by TVs in Hosur SNF basically I would term it as a TVs only.knowing that tvs has bread quality I think one shouldn't think twice about the 310

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Bro.... Please elaborate this... Removed the cat con...? Won't it cause improper combustion...?Originally posted by paradoxr9019 View PostGo for the stock exhaust mod bro.. Some people have opened up their stock exhausts and removed the fibre glass and the catalytic converter and the result is a very bassy exhaust with stock form factor
I was actually thinking to take a nail and bore some holes behind the aluminium exhaust cover.... Will that be fine...?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I will be going ahead with the booking of duke 200. Going through the thread extensively from last day. I know that no bike is totally trouble free. But still will this be a good decision now? Am not worried about their udgrades coming next year.. but duke has takeny mind and heart for last 2 weeks

Heard in 2017 they might phase out the duke 200 n make it a 250.. Not sure how true it can be.Originally posted by roamer View PostI will be going ahead with the booking of duke 200.
