  • Re: KTM 200 Duke

Had a KTM Meet for the 1st Orange Day in the Andamans.

Had few queries resolved by Technical Team.

    1. The Screeching sound from the front brake pads?
Ans: Caused by improper wear of the pads. 2016 models have the improved pads to solve the issue. Change to newer pads once the existing ones wear out.

    2. Handle Nut getting loosened over time?
Ans: Caused when riding with excessive air pressure in front wheels, increases vibes when ridden in bad roads.

    3. Gear Lever & Brake Lever breaks easily during a fall?
Ans: Improved quality of the levers to reduce breaking in 2016 model. can u changed in older dukes.

    4. Mud Splash Issue while riding in rain?
Ans: For my utter surprise, this is the 1st time they got the mud splash feedback they said.

    5. The Speedo shows vehicle in Neutral but once you leave the clutch you get a jerk (False Neutral)?
Ans: The Gear sensor is giving false reading. will be changed tomorrow under warranty.

But after coming back to home, the black liquid started to drip like 2-4drops per minute.. Pics attached, and when i contacted the svc, they again said it's probably chain lube along with the dust and now any ideas what should i do??? And is it really chain lube or something else??
I see it for a few days after i get the chain lubed. In my case plain old engine oil is used to lube the chain and this drips down the stand for a 3 to 4 days and forms a little circular stain on the ground.
You know what they say "Bikes don't leak oil, they mark their territory"

On the other hand, you can ask them to remove the plastic cover over the front sprocket area and clean up all the oily muck around that area and clean the stand also.
Maybe even dab the chain with a cloth to clean up excess oil.
Next observe for a day or two to see if it crops up. If you continue to see leaks, then you have to look closer to see if a gasket replacement is necessary.

the front will bed in sooner but the rear brakes take some time to get that bite as the other user posted.
give it some time.. say around 1000~1500km

Okay will do that.BTW the bike seems pretty awesome.I am used to drive heavy bikes so for me its very nimble.may be I need some time to get used to it as the bike seems faster in every possible aspect.currently I am shifting last 3 gears at around 5000 rpm and the max I have touched is 6000rpm.ideally I would be hovering around 5500rpm in outer ring road while coming from manyata.

Ya. they said they will look into it the splashing issue. Its because the brake pad is the new. give it some time it will bite like a hyena

I tried the fazer one.. Was not fitting but the CBRs windshield can be fit but it requires you cutting, drilling and pressing the windshield.. I did it and I removed it because the SVC guys are so lame that they don't even know how to open the head light assy when they wanted to change the accelerator cable..

Hey guys... Any one know how to loosen the screws on the plate that's attached to the throttle body? I thought of replacing the throttle cable but I was not lucky..

Thanks @paradxr9019 for the help.I was looking into something which is a direct fit as i need a windshield.Let me search over the internet for some solution.
BTW is this your bike.I liked how you fit the Windshield. If possible can you let me know the DIY.I might go for this as this looks extremly cool on the bike.

Unfortunately there is no direct fit..
If you need a direct fit you would need to go for after market ones..
I have ordered one from eBay.. Waiting for it.. Once I get a hold of that, I would make a review of it..
Well if you add windshields to your bike, make sure you are near when you get your service done at the SVC as those guys do a very sloppy job and they break stuff.. They actually tore my windshield and returned the bike to me.. I reverted to stock due to their incompetence

If you still want to know about the diy.. Pm me your WhatsApp number, I will ping you...

Doesn't your front mudguard have the extra plastic flap that is bolted on at the bottom ? This prevents dirt and muck from flinging on to the radiator. If you do not have this extra mudflap (which i think has been provided since around 2014), do get it installed. Its a cheap fix.

I've ridden on almost all types of roads and have never had stones hitting the radiator. Just those random flies and insects that hit the radiator on highway rides.
and btw, a couple of bent fins is not going to cause any problem (in a lot of cases the fins get bent due to careless water washing)
Yes there is an extra mudflap in the front.
And I noticed one more thing today I am hearing "phat phat phat " noise from rear I am not able to make out if it's from chain or the breaks.
I bought Motul chain and clube.
It l b really cool if anyone can tell how to DIY chain cleaning and lubing.

For chain cleaning there r lot of videos on youtube. I saw vikas rachamalla's video and he explains it pretty well. Imo U better use kerosene for chain cleaning as it handy to find it and works perfect.

What about that "phat phat" sound coming from the rear I can hear it very clearly even after I wear a helmet not sure if it's coming from the brake pad or the chain.

sound 'issues' are difficult to identify without actually riding and hearing it.
i am assuming this 'phat phat' is from the exhaust? And its common on the duke, unless it too loud like a misfire.
you could maybe try refueling from a different petrol bunk and put on a few more km and see how it goes.
