Re: KTM 200 Duke
I too m a little noobie but if u go thru forum a few ppl have experienced it and it's coz of sealant not sticking well. Those two rounds marks on each side are supposed to keep it attached.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostOK.is it serious.and how this happened ?

Okay .thanks .Originally posted by kundalus View PostIt's just the sealant. Just show it to them and they will tell u about the problem and solution.
I had a word with the SVC and he told me tl come on Monday.but he also mentioned that even after putting the seal the leakage might still be there in the future specially at high speed?
Is it true or I encountered a Noob in the SVC?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Nope bro this time the SVC guy wasn't a noob he wanted to say that at higher rpms engine oil is splashed all over the cylinder and the sealant prevents the leak once they properly seal it then the problem will disappear.[emoji2]Originally posted by xplod566 View PostOkay .thanks .

Apache bar ends fit but hand guards won't.. I tried and found the hand guards too big or the levers too lengthy..Originally posted by arjun001rao View PostHi friends .
I wanted to fit hand guards for duke 200 so brought Apache bar ends but unable to source 390 hand guards anywhere in Hyderabad.
Will be getting a 390 handlebar and fitting it.. Later

Where did you source this from.and what mods u had to make?
Well the holes didn't match up so had to remove the windshield nuts from the headlamp assembly to fasten the nuts..

How this happened? and anything serious
Coming to that oil weep, its a common occurrence.
The oil is leaking from the valve cover gasket area (its NOT the head gasket). Nothing to worry about.
At your first service, ask them to remove the valve cover and replace the gasket. The gasket kit comes with the gasket and 4 circular rubber o rings for the 4 bolts that hold down the valve cover.
And when they are placing the valve cover gasket, ask them to apply a thin layer of gasket sealant (they will have a grey tube of loctite sealant provided by bajaj or any other equivalent sealant). This sealant needs to be applied around that "O O" area and a bit along the mating surface.
Some mechanics will avoid removing the valve cover, and simply smear sealant on the outside.. don't let them do this!
You could also reused the same gasket with the gasket sealant provided the gasket is not torn or damaged. It's a gamble though, hence i recommend a new gasket.
I've had this done and it was done under warranty and i dint pay a penny for the gasket or labor. I had this done at the third free service, though this weep was present since around the first service.
I have since driven at higher rpms and speeds and i haven't seen a single drop of oil leak from that area since. In fact I just got back home from a 600km trip, and the bike was constantly doing 90-95 all along.Last edited by s1d; 02-28-2016, 10:48 PM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Okay s1d will do it.I was a bit worried initially but seems like its a common issue.I spoke with the Khivraj KTM service head,I believe his name is Ravi and he told he will fix it and it will be done under warranty.other than that no issues with the bike.I also happen to drop a mail to KTM asking as to why its happening being a new bike.hope they fix it in the further models.here is a screenshot of the mail I wrote
