• KTM Duke 200 - Need help urgent

Hello friends,

Can anyone help me find a good mechanic for my KTM Duke 200 in Hyderabad.

I am not comfortable with showroom service so anyone other than showroom is expected.

Thanks you so much in advance.

first let us know what kind of mechanical work are you looking to be done on your ktm ?
if its just regular servicing , then head to begumpet or banjara svc and hang around while your bike gets serviced.
if you are facing some major issue, then head to the bajara svc and request that the bike be looked in to by Srikanth. He's the guy who works on most major repairs.
And in case you don't receive a proper response, please shoot an email to bajaj customer care explaining your situation clearly and politely.

Finally, since the past 8 months the ktm svc's have been jam packed due to the spurt in sales.. I advice you to visit them a few days in advance and fix an appointment for service.. and in case any spares apart from the regular stuff are required, please inform them and follow up to make sure they are available before you give the bike in for service.

its always better to educate oneself on the basics. and one should learn to identify the crap from real knowledge (i.e. stay away from fancy vlogs/videos/'reviews')
i personally find that i am able to make a mechanic work to my satisfaction by guiding them and at the same time not being arrogant or bossy around them.
if in doubt then just stick to the svc and make sure you keep stuff in writing (job card, issues etc..). you can at least write to the manufacturer if you have proof and get the work done.

Well.. s1d.. When I owned the Yamaha rx100 I had it serviced by a local mechanic.. I was obviously working so I didn't find time to actually sit beside the guy and see what is being done.. Turns out, The guy was actually robbing me..

The next thing happened with the r15 v2.. When I actually wanted to change the chain sprocket, the guy broke the brake pads too.. I don't know how that happened..

Here at chennai, I have had so many bad experiences.. So I told what I felt..

If you show that you know what you are talking about, the ego of the mechanic clashes with his duty...

No matter how nice or professionally you move towards the task..

"if in doubt then just stick to the svc and make sure you keep stuff in writing (job card, issues etc..). you can at least write to the manufacturer if you have proof and get the work done."

That's why I am more inclined towards the SVC if I want any job to be done...

P.s. rest are purely personal opinion.. didn't mean any offence. Cheers

Check the tool box you have attached to the back seat.It could make the noise you are referring to.
Remove the toolbox and ride it and see if the sound dissapears.

If you feel the sound is coming from the front, check your T stem bearings, if you are hearing the sound from rear like a thud, when you go over a pothole or a undulation, it can be either the tool kit as mentioned by our fellow bhpian. Toolkits unless out of place won't cause any problems they still fit snug under the seat. Check your chain play too, loose a chain can cause slapping and cause that khat khat sound you've mentioned.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

You mentioned sound from the front.

In mine when i drop the front wheels from a height approx 10cms...usually bcz of potholes.... i get a kind of thud sound from the front area..... also i checked that my front shocks are not bleeding oil. So i neglected the sound as it happens rarely.

Also wanted to mention that, my bike goes straight when i leave the handle bars.

Now that you have mentioned i remembered the sound, is that sound also because of the T Stem Bearings. Please give more light on this issue. :'(

Hi friends
I have brought my D200 in oct2015.
One of the front fork seal gone bust.
Now the paint from the rear suspension (monoshock) is peeling.
As a owner of Royal Enfield as well I think the parts quality are on par with each other.

Thud sounds are normal, when going over potholes above 40. What we have to keep in mind is when you hear abnormal, "khat, khatak" all sort of those sharp pitched sounds especially when braking, then we have issue with the front end bearings. Thud is quite normal.

Cheers!

Check the free play in the chain, refer the manual, so that you'll get an idea of the free play required and adjust the slack, or you can take it SVC, considering it's only a 5 min job.
