Frankly I cant ride aggressively every time in city. For highways, if you are cruising @ < 100 kmph, the FE would be > 40 for sure.

i know its not meant for mileage but riding fast in bangalore city traffic will get me killed ..only occasional speed bursts for overtaking , but other than that i think i will rarely get to cross speeds of 70kmph .. the main reason for buying duke for me is that i need to have all the power when i need it the most ( not that i will utilise all the power everytime ) ..Originally posted by somen1984 View PostDuke is not art all for mileage!! It's for fun and speed!! Just think a 200cc with 25bhp and short gears means instant jerky picks!!! So what average would you get, 30-35kmpl. Getting 35kmpl+ would be like not using 25bhp at all, only near to 60-80kmph. which even you won't enjoy!! Think wisely 200NS or Duke ?? Even NS won't give you 40kmpl with power modes!! These bikes are power and speed combination so expecting mileage would be little wrong!!!

For power you can have 200 ns as well. But where Duke will differentiate you is the brand value. It is a KTM. Its not a mass market product. It defines your personality & blah blah (marketing gyanOriginally posted by Rohan200ns View Posti know its not meant for mileage but riding fast in bangalore city traffic will get me killed ..only occasional speed bursts for overtaking , but other than that i think i will rarely get to cross speeds of 70kmph .. the main reason for buying duke for me is that i need to have all the power when i need it the most ( not that i will utilise all the power everytime ) ..

For your question again, even pulsar 200 ns wont give you more than 40 kmpl after run in.
Now I dont think this ownership thread is the correct forum to compare the 2 bikes

ok .. lets leave the comparisons aside .. lets talk only about duke .. the sales guy at ktm bangalore is confidently claiming 40kmpl .. how do you check FE in FI bikes ( they dont have fuel knob for reserve ) .. FI engines should be more fuel efficient than carb ones right ?Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostFor power you can have 200 ns as well. when i test rode the duke , it was showing 15kmpl on the display ..

Hi everyone, today completed 1100+ km on Duke from Delhi to Srinagar (Baramulla). Highway was around 950km+ with city riding in Jammu(150km+). Believe me i want to do it again and again. Riding on highway was as beautiful as cutting the rain with confidence and moving forward and forward. Today completed 2nd stage of journey from Jammu to Baramulla. With Duke i never felt under powered in any catagory-be it braking, pick up, riding on curves of hill all through the highway. Luggage was same as before seen in snaps posted few threads back. Ill be writing whole experience in next coming days with photos. Duke behaved in the way i wanted Duke to behave. I have travelled on this whole highway a lot by driving car, and on Enfield but never enjoyed it so much as this time with Duke. Believe me-u everyone who is owner of Duke is very luck guy to have a machine with lots and lots of potential in it.
answers in boldOriginally posted by vatsa View Postnevertheless duke is a great performer. high speed cruising may not be its forte. infact none of the naked street bikes are good for touring because of the windblast.
Sorry bro i dont agree with u personally. Even with windblast i was able to maintain a constant speed of 125-126km/hr wiithout any problem with lot of luggage with me.
1.crazy accleration, crazy throttle response-this is what we need on highways
2. awesome brakes-yeap agree with u, gives more confidence on high speeds.
3. very good tyres-i never had problems with them as i rode on everything u can imagine except snow.
1. hard seat-yeap i got mine little altered and now my buts dont hurt even after 10 hours of constant riding.
2. small pillion seat goes against touring-yes if u have pillon but again u can change the size and comfort as per requirements
3. wind blast after 110 kph--xmmmmm i never had problem with it even at constant 125
4. smaller tank and luggage carrying capacity very less-i took extra fuel with me but Duke never allowed me to use it. About luggage u can check my posts few thread back and u can see what duke can take with it.
5. the engine felt stressed probably because of the high revving motor-xmmm yes a little but it never comes in between Duke and performanceLast edited by drrajsodhi; 07-01-2012, 02:43 AM.

Problems in duke
Hello all, i am looking forward to buy duke but its issues are holding me back. I have heard of coolant dripping, front shocker leaking, gear shifting problem, too much engine overheating, spare part availability etc. Are these issues minor and can be sorted or i have to face these and live with these ?
I am loving my NS

Hello guys
.I am regular silent spectator on xbhp, usually drooling over the pics on the superbike and imports page and skipping those highly complex techy geeky comments
.I have clocked 3,50,000 KM on my splendor + and 6,500 KM on the Duke.I am more of a city rider but ever since I bought the Duke I have been looking up google maps more often
.I appreciate all the knowledge sharing thats has been going on and look forward to contributing whatever little I know and have some fun

it was fun complaining and in return getting a good response from the SVC people and not to mention the look on their facesOriginally posted by joshzma225 View PostThat's great to hear!!! It's all a question of authority at the SVC. They are only doing whatever is within their protocols. Since you complained to a higher authority, they were instantly granted to do whatever it was that you expected. Complaining is fun. Besides that it helps the company work better in the long run.
they turned out pale

I have completed 1200kms in the last month.Originally posted by Newrider88 View PostHello all, i am looking forward to buy duke but its issues are holding me back. Coolant dripping is because overfilling of coolant or because of jumps over speed breakers. I have faced this just once. I havent faced any leakage. Not anything to be concerned about.
My front shocks havent leaked.
Gear shifts are smooth No false neutrals.
Engine does heat up but the fan takes care of it everythime. Mostly an issue for hot cities and long drives.
Spares are not available everywhere. Thats one issue. But that should get sorted out soon. Remember KTM is a new company.
I think these are all minor issues, if you have a service centre in your city then it wouldnt be a concern for you.

I didn't face any of the issues you posted , coolant dipping/leaking possible when coolant filled beyond max level and/or when bike tipped over. Mines stayed the same (15 days old,odo 1200km,no spills no topups) and about glitchy gear shift, chain sounds are not present in my duke, Bajaj might have sorted these issues.Originally posted by Newrider88 View PostHello all, i am looking forward to buy duke but its issues are holding me back. Today i have done my first service at Auto Service,Bangalore . I have seen a duke with torn tank cover, ripped headlight left mask. they got all the spares to replace (Don't know how long it took, that dukes owner might be here).
About heating issue, its there in all liquid cooled engine. You only notice it when fan starts spinning.
