I haven't ridden the NS200 yet..but as far as tech is concerned.. Don't u think the Trellis frame, USD WP forks, Light weight, Hard suspension and MRF sticky rubber should give the upper hand to the Duke ??

I am not comparing the bikes dude.. I am just saying that in the price bracket of 6-7 lacs these are the bikes available.

In India there is a huge price difference in CBR250 and Ninja 250. One of the factor is also because of difference in engine. (single/twin).

I read the expected price of CBR600RR on the internet.

Let's see what the official price will be.

EDIT: These are expected prices so I guess we all can have different expectations of prices, can't we?
Yeah sure. But I think Honda being honda will always price 600RR at a premium.
Besides twin is no good if it doesn't produce more power IMO. The Ninja and GT are prices higher because they come via CKD route and not because of the extra cylinder.
Euros always command a premium over the Japs in all markets. So a BMW, KTM and Ducati will be pricier than a Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki despite similar performance.
But again Bajaj being Baja might price the 690 at an unbelievable price just as they did for the 200 Duke

The R15 is really old-tech compared to the Duke. Even with the "perimeter frame", the rest of the suspension on the NS is spindly enough for the frame's rigidity to never really come into play. Seriously, the Duke is the *only* small-engine bike sold in India right now that has technology and design elements newer than 1990. The CBR is close, but even it only uses a semi-trellis, similar to basic commuter bikes anywhere else (most of which haven't changed much since the early 90s either). To expect a down-market bike like the 200NS to be competitive with something like the Duke is unrealistic.

You are not getting it. I didn't say that NS handles better, I just said Duke is more wild even in corners. Like I said in the other thread Duke is a hooligan whereas NS is a polished assassin. See any video of Supermoto in youtube and then you will understand what I'm talking about. Duke is not a Supermoto but doing rear slide is much easier on Duke than on a NS.

Well let's hope that the new high performance motorcycles that are lined up to enter the Indian automotive market are priced competitively so that enthusiasts like us can enjoy those mean machines.

Ya might want to check my "about" before you dig that hole any deeper. I've been riding a long time. The R15 is no more "advanced" than the old FZRs of the late 80s and early 90s. The spindly conventional fork and long subframe are proof of that. Just because Yamaha dressed it up like a previous-generation R1, doesn't make it modern.

Sorry to be blunt, but the truth is India is getting the short end of the motorcycle stick; virtually everything sold in showrooms in India today as "advanced" or "high-performance" was obsolete ten years ago or more in the rest of the world. Before I came here, the last time I ever saw that many dual-shock rear suspensions and front drum brakes was at a classic motorcycle show.

The Duke is a bit of a breath of fresh air; with any luck it's going to pressure the other manufacturers, including parent Bajaj, to join the 21st century, and ditch all the old tech.

Ignorance is the R15's outdated telescopic front fork suspension and anorexic tyres and bliss is the fairing they gave it to divert your attention from all of the above...It's not an R1 man, it never will be, it's got nothing passed down from the R1 but the fairing design...But, the KTM 200 Duke on the other hand rides like a KTM!!! It's Ready to Race and it's not a poser bike, It's here to make Yamaha realise that India doesn't deserve a hand me down 150cc version of their R1, but something that captures the true essence of an R1, so be thankful that the Duke is here.

Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

                  • I guess when the KTM can beat all others ''racing'' bikes on track even though its not a track machine, it means something is wrong.

In all fairness, the R15 doesn't have enough power to warrant putting wider tires on it. As I noted earlier, the 150 on the back of the Duke is really overkill; it could easily get by with a 140 or even 130. Wide tires on these little bikes is all about cosmetics, or "looks". None of them have the weight or horsepower to overcome even the tiny contact patches they have currently. Yamaha's mistake was making the fairing of the R15 so bulbous that the tires look narrow by comparison. They did it to fit those ridiculous headlights on it in a failed attempt to evoke the older R1, as well as in a vain attempt to make it look more like a real motorcycle. They would have been far better-off giving it its own character, and a narrower fairing to match. Aprilia makes a fully-faired 50cc, with narrow wheels, that looks much more proportional than the R15.
