    Thanks..
Dude... everywhere n the world - the front number plate is compulsory. If you do not like the front number plate then you can print it on the front wheel cover.

    That will be absolutely fine

i have removed my front number plate right itself during the delivery time
i didnt even put T/R sticker in the front
in my city they arent that strict
but after i got my number
i have placed a sticker on the front wind shield

BUT it has compulsory to have a number plate in the front
a sticker on the windshield or on the front mudguard wont be big or visible enough for the cops and they fine u for that

Bike stalling/sputtering when taking off in 1st or 2nd gear.
            Slight chain noise.

Reported it to the SVC today. Chain tightened and lubed.

About stalling/sputtering - the mechanic blew air through the tank lid vents. dust and oil spewed out of the keyhole. (may not be the cause of sputtering) but said they would look at the mapping etc during 1st service (due in about 400 kms)

Engine not sounding as refined. Sounding coarse now. An oil change/filter change during service should take care of this.

Asked about the rubber cover for the chain/replacing tank lid etc - SVC guy said that would happen when the stocks arrive.

              • i would like to share my experience with the KTM SVC.
in my city there are no spare parts available , not even a small allen bolts
i visited the SVC many times but no use , they say we have ordered the parts but we still didnt receive them
so i got fed up and sent a mail to ktm india
saying about my problem and the next day the guy manager at the KTM service called me regarding the problem and said to visit the SVC ,
i went and they have given me the spares for free of cost
they have provided me allen bolts for front mudguard which were damaged by the time of delivery itself and they have treated me with utter obedience and i complained about the rear indicator also and they took pics and said come by tomorrow we'll replace it at free of cost

and today got a call from SVC saying
we have spoke regarding ur rear indicator problem (moisture inside it)
so they said come by monday we'l replace it

but one thing i haven't understood that why always we need to complain to higher officials regarding anything , why cant the SVC people itself try to sort out things at once !!

                • The engine Stalling/cut off while riding is just really too dangerous coz I've had a few near miss accidents because of it and they better get this sorted in the next service or they're gonna get a lot of accident cases because of this minor issue.

Imagine you're in traffic and your bike suddenly shuts off without warning and it won't even start with the electric starter!!! ...Today I almost got swacked by a Taxi because of the engine stall issue!!!

That's great to hear!!! It's all a question of authority at the SVC. They are only doing whatever is within their protocols. Since you complained to a higher authority, they were instantly granted to do whatever it was that you expected. Complaining is fun. Besides that it helps the company work better in the long run.

                    • This shall be the last post regarding R15 on KTM ownership thread

R15 might be outdated, but by how much is subjective to a person's view. @joshzma225 and The Mountain, I am aware that R15 is not R1. Let's not assume that I am even remotely considering it to be near one! However, let's compare certain things in Duke and R15 piece by piece. Trellis frame versus perimeter frame. As far as my knowledge goes, there's no theory or proof that says that trellis frame (Duke) is more advanced than the perimeter type frame (R15) and otherwise. I believe that both are equally advanced/good with respect to a motorcycle's stability and overall handling dynamics. I also believe it to be more of engineers' prerogative of which direction they choose to take when it comes to designing a frame/chassis. However, if either of you have any theory to support that the trellis frame is more advanced than a perimeter frame, then please share that information here and I'll be happy to accept it. Regarding engine, I believe that R15's unit is not going to be really outdated in comparisons to Duke's unit, if at all it is outdated. For front suspension I give full marks to the Duke with USD forks. However, I will put R15's rear suspension to be a bit more advanced setup than the Duke's. Both motorcycle's have aluminium swing-arm, but, R15's link type mono-suspension scores above the Duke's more conventional setup in my opinion. Yes, Duke looks more radical, but that's KTM in general. All their motorcycles standout a bit more than others. So I believe both are pretty much matched with respect to technology. KTM might be a hair ahead of R15. But I wouldn't bet on it. To conclude, being a sportbike, R15 generates a respectable power for a 150cc motorcycle. Duke is a pocket rocket, but it's top-end is nothing phenomenal either when compared to R15. Duke is much quicker though.

I couldn't have been more unbiased in sharing my views above. Will expect that it will be taken in a positive manner.

                      • hi folks. I took a TR of the duke 200 y'day finally. man the bike pulls and pulls like crazy in every possible gear.. i Own a cbr 250R. and i must say that the duke was more fun to ride.. And its a boon in city.. it's the new age RX imo.. a monster bike for hooligans. i ve ridden an R15 extensively and now i ride a cbr. Trust me neither of these machines can match duke's throttle response or the flickablity.. Its just a delight to ride in cities. Regarding the top end. am sure it can comfortably cruise at 120kph all day. thats pretty decent for a naked bike. a little lesser than the faired bikes like the cbr.. The reason i went in for a cbr was for the only reason of touring.. I tour a lot so i felt cbr a lot more relaxed, practical, better top speed, better cruising ability, better comfort both rider and pillion and last but not the least the "HONDA" reliability.

nevertheless duke is a great performer. high speed cruising may not be its forte. infact none of the naked street bikes are good for touring because of the windblast.

                        1.crazy accleration, crazy throttle response
                        2. awesome brakes. The braided lines and dot 4 is much more responsive than the cbr.
                        3. very good tyres
                        4. new age "RX" feel and fun element.
                        5. best city bike available in the country right now IMO.

                        1. hard seat.
                        2. small pillion seat goes against touring.
                        3. wind blast after 110 kph
                        4. smaller tank and luggage carrying capacity very less.
                        5. the engine felt stressed probably because of the high revving motor.

FI , twin cam , wp suspensions and alluminium swing arm are easily worth the 35k price difference ... feeling of riding a ktm is priceless .. my dad has pretty much agreed for duke , but he clearly told me that i should be able to extract 35+ kmpl out of it ... please tell me what is the real world mileage of duke under sane riding conditions in city .. duke dealership guy was telling me that it easily gives 40kmpl and also he told that a few duke owners even reported 45+ kmpl during service ... help me guys regarding the mileage i can expect from duke .. 100% city riding conditions ..

Its up to you how much mileage you can extract from a bike. It depends on various factors -
                            1. Riding Style
                            2. Highway/ City
                            3. With/ Without Pillion
                            and many more.
You can extract 40 but you wont love it because the purpose of buying such a bike would be defeated if you are gonna drive it like a splendor.
You can get 35. Thats a mixture of sedate & aggressive riding.
You can get 30 or even lesser which is purely aggressive riding.
So its totally up to you.
BTW, I got around 470 kms in 1000 Rs with petrol price of 73 Rs. So do your maths

Duke is not art all for mileage!! It's for fun and speed!! Just think a 200cc with 25bhp and short gears means instant jerky picks!!! So what average would you get, 30-35kmpl. Getting 35kmpl+ would be like not using 25bhp at all, only near to 60-80kmph. which even you won't enjoy!! Think wisely 200NS or Duke ?? Even NS won't give you 40kmpl with power modes!! These bikes are power and speed combination so expecting mileage would be little wrong!!!
