Whats the use of all this electronics when it is becoming a headache.
Did they change any electronics last time?

      • Hi,

Was wondering how do you know you're getting a bike from a new batch or relatively older batch when you're purchasing your Duke?

I am also aware that lots of us have had this issue but I believe it was resolved after first service.
i honestly fell in love with the gear shifts of duke during test ride ..its exactly how i want from a bike ..its same as r15 ..but i was ripping the bike during test ride .. i forgot to test the bike in low and mid range .. is there enough grunt below 5000rpm ?? i didnt get time to look at the console while riding cos it was insanely quick at full throttle ...

A_n_i is on a trip to Leh on his Duke, and I think some other xbhpians have also been to Leh on Duke, but no one has yet posted their experiences. I am also eagerly waiting for them to report.

              • Water drops in fuel tank.

Guys, last nite it rained heavily, though my bike was under the parking shade, somehow water may have dripped onto it. Today in the morning when in went for fuelling, i saw water drops on the outer ring (black area) inside the fuel tank i.e. once you open the cover. My concern is will or can water enter the fuel tank or will it only stay in the black area ?

                • Hey guys,
Has anyone had a problem procuring spare parts at the SVC? I have ordered a couple of replacement parts ( RH hand grip and Rear brake fluid reservoir) more than a week ago but I'm still told the parts have not arrived.

I understand that not all parts can be stocked by SVC but i do not understand why it takes more than a week for a part to be available.

If the bike was covered and not directly exposed to the shower i doubt that water could have leaked through the tank cap. However, condensation could be a possibility. Just a few drops shouldn't be a problem as this would sink to the bottom and will probably never enter the fuel lines. If you suspect that it is more than a few droplets then you would be better off draining the tank.

is there really a problem ?? please help
Strangely enough I am encountering some shifting problems for sometime now which were not there before 1st service. Specifically, when I downshift from 2nd to 1st and upshift from 1st to second. In the former instance, I sometimes reach a 'no gear zone' , which means that the gear kind of dangles somewhere in between 1st, 2nd and neutral(the gear display in the console shows no figure) and sometimes to neutral. IN the latter, the gear slots into neutral and not the intended 2nd .This happens only after a run in some heavy stop go traffic.
Part of the reason may be due to I being fatigued and not being firm footed with the shifts. I think if you are conscious enough to be sure and firm footed with the gear shifts then you won't have any problems.
The gears are not surely what you'll find on a Honda so do not expect it to be butter smooth.
The other reason may be that I have still not switched to FS. May be after that I can expect the problem to disappear.

BUt when the gear shifts are precise and give good feedback when it works without any hitch

No modern bike will allow liquid water to enter the gas tank. If you look at the underside of the cap, you'll see that there's a substantial rubber gasket that seals against the opening of the fuel tank, just like every other modern vehicle.

What kinds of vehicles have you been driving previously, that you believe the gas cap isn't waterproof?

honda bikes also have gear slips .. a lot in fact ... yamaha bikes never face gear slips ..
i think everybody is facing mis-shifts because of the tiny gear lever .. i think it should have been a lot bigger .. the rear brake lever too is tiny ..

                          • Replacemetn of Rear Suspension Spring

Today morning received another call from Kiran,KTM rep, bangalore.he said that parts are ready asked me to come to the svc for replacement. I told i will get it done on saturday.

After that i made a call to Chandrashekar,KTM rep for Goa,Karnataka and told him almost all dukes have this issue, a replacement wont be suffice unless those are re-engineered parts. He answered that KTM aware of this issue and it was in their top of the list , they changed the paint quality and vendor and assured me we wont face it again.
