The coolant will leak if the coolant level is at or above the max level. This is how it is designed. It might also happen if the radiator fan is not working or there is a lot of dirst build up on the radiator or the fan.

Please coorect me if I am wrong

No coolant leakages thank God till now. Only time a very minute quantity fizzed out of the coolant reservoir cap was when the cap O ring seal had given way. No such instances after the cap was replaced(not under warranty though)
i only get to see 2 drops of coolant on the right side of radiator plastic part after spirited riding ..

@everyone - when is the radiator fan supposed to start ? .. mine has never come on .. the temperature level on the console is always 2 bars below H mark ... once it was at 1 bar below H mark but the fan wasnt running ... is the fan supposed to run only when the engine is running or does it have to run when the engine is off and ignition is on ?

mine has also not come on, i believe it will be only on when the engine is switched on and has reached a preset temp., whether the bike is running or not does not matter. it will not run when engine is off and ignition is on

              • To all the members who have helped me out by giving me insightful answers, ithank all of you from my heart, I bought Duke on this Monday . Duke and rain and some work kept me busy enough so i was not able to post regarding it on the forum.

                Now some fine points

1.I bought it from KTM showroom after wait of 14 days. The wait could have been zero days but when i went for booking cum buying there were two Dukes only and after inspection i didn't like physical condition of them so decided to wait for new lot.

                2. I was informed new lot will come in 10-12 days consisting of 16 Dukes and i can take a pick.

                3. i told them i want to pick the bike from the Depot itself so that it has zero Km on odo

                4. Finally on this Monday, i started from showroom towards Depot with three more bajaj employee's basically technicians , i choose a Duke with ZERO km on Odo , had one technician as pillion and told them to take the group as empty route as possible while returning to KTM Showroom.

                5. I did not get time to warm it properly still i did warm it up for a minute , the tech told me to not cross 40 km/hr and was so told by KTM showroom's manager as well, he also told me to use all gears including 6th , anyways i happily rode till 6 to 7k rpm, varying rpm in all gears , touching speed of 65 in its maiden ride, accelerating , decelerating using primarily engine braking, while explaining pillion its my way of running in ..

                6. It was almost 18-20 km ride, the fuel level was low so i told KTM manager to get filled it up, again i accompanied PDI guy as pillion to short return trip of 1km as pillion while engine was still hot .

                7. Then came my parents and wife, my father who was against me buying a two wheeler, was the most enthusiastic and asked my questions about console display and my mum followed as she is interested in new tech.
                8. Since it was cross 7 pm, bike was not washed and i was told i can get it washed on Tuesday, we took it to temple ,got puja done, in way to temple only barrage of questions from fellow bikers, onlookers started

I am unable to attach pictures, it comes as security token is missing , someone guide me regarding this issue i will continue this post later from this point with pictures

thanks for letting me know, till now my bike has not reached 9 bars hence i am yet to experience it. Also everyone who is having problem with radiator fins cleaning, i witnessed an effective method it being using water flow on the fan side of radiator, it was able to clean all muck and mud .

Thanks .i tried to click it before as well but need to have bike on a lifted up platform so as to be able to click it. the angle and tricky, poor colour contrast requires use of SLR thus it needs to be lifted up.

Also, i had a short ride of 7 km today and witnessed chunkiness in gear shift, i did warm up bike enough so that it showed two bars of dash, what could be the reason?
After first oil change at 65 kms i have witnessed reduced pickup, what could be the reason?
also do we require to warm up engine for the first ride in morning to two bars or one is enough? i believe one should be enough and time taken is also enough so as coolant reaches all places in engine any suggestions?

                              • Full Throttle...

snapped my throttle cable last night!!! It was all very random and completely caught me off guard!!! I've called a mechanic I know from KTM to replace the cable. Luckily they have these cables in stock!!!
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.
