Are you sure ? The guys at the service center do only what you ask them to do and they do it well.I dont think they would have touched your brakes when you had no complains about it.After all they need to get another 10 bikes ready by the end of the day.

The coolant will leak of the coolant level is at or above max level. It would also leak if the radiator fan is not running.Just my 2 cents

Ok.. Btw do you know if the Ninja 650 has a coated suspension or not? I saw a some pics where it did not appear to have any coat..

My bike is showing some minor peeling effect (touchwood). But I guess that's because I haven't been riding much after the monsoons have started. I'll talk to the svc when I take it for a service. Thanks mate

rather than paying a hefty amount (not sure; just a wild guess looking at the prices of other powerparts) you can get yourself a decent grip for 100 bucks or so...

Has anyone installed an alarm system? Any recommendations for a place where they know how to fit it for Duke in Bangalore?
I guess you have not read throughout the thread...

anyways. you can install an alarm system but then it'll void the guarantee of the battery.
Xena disk locks with alarm is the best option but sadly not available in India. You'll have to ship it here from US.

Last option remains a heavy duty chain and lock.. Lock ur bike with something solid like a pipe of maybe a fence..

The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

it is very minute .. not visible from side .. only on the upper part of the spring .. it wont be visible on pics.. i think it will be clearly visible after 1.5k kms ... it is just cosmetic defect but ktm is replacing it for free ..

Ya surely replace it. read that a new powder coated shocks are available. Enquire with the SVC, and go for that one.

All The Gear, All The Time. Period.

You should always wear full-finger leather or at least synthetic leather gloves designed for motorcycle use. I always do, and when I get off the bike, the gloves get folded up and stuffed in my helmet (unless they're really wet), which I then carry with me. I never leave any gear on the bike, as it is a temptation to thieves, as well as exposing the gear to damage from the climate; in particular that will ruin a helmet in very short order, even if the helmet is properly locked to the helmet lock instead of balanced on the mirror.

Look at it this way: which is more inconvenient for you? having to find a place to carry gloves, or having to fumble around with prosthetic hands? You seem to have a habit of throwing away MAJOR safety devices in favor of tiny gains in convenience (don't want the rearview mirrors because your bike cover doesn't fit right, don't want to wear gloves because you don't have a simple place to put them).

Re-do the brake break-in procedure: Find a relatively empty, straight road. Run the bike up to 50-60km/h, then using the front brake only, decelerate hard to about 15-20km/h, immediately speed back up to 50-60 and do it again and again. Do that a total of 10 times, then do the same using only the rear brake. Repeat the whole process for front and rear i.e. Front, then rear, then front again, then rear again. By the 9th or 10th time of each session, the brake should smoke lightly. Do NOT come to a full stop each time, and keep the bike moving when you switch from front to rear, so the brake not in use has time to cool. Then go ride for a while without using either brake, and you should find the brakes will feel much better.

No idea, but my guess is the suspension is powder-coated. No bike, or any other vehicle, will have bare-metal springs.

I'm betting it's clearcoated at least. It won't be a stainless spring, since stainless steel is horrible for springs (too brittle). The spring is painted the frame color for other color combinations, so the green/silver one probably just has the same coating as the rest of the frame.

Any way few things might change the experience. Switch to full synth, its slippery than the mineral oil causes less friction so the bike revs freely. Personally i used dtsi felt bike became calm and uninteresting And switch your ride to your older bike for a while,tada.. You will remember your honey moon days with duke..:-P
I dont understand why i got the same feeling of adrenaline after the first servicing then?? I will be switching to fully synthetic after 2500 kms on the odo. i did switch to my old bike for two days which is a pulsar 180 and yes the duke does feel much faster but it still feels sluggish compared to the duke-when i test rode it, first 400 kms and the 200-300 kms after the first servicing. Can someone please suggest ways to keep the performance at its highest by no addition of performance systems or voiding the warranty... And by performance i mean getting it in the engine unit and to the ground...

It is black coloured on the Ninja 250 atleast. Looks and feels uncoated, though I may be wrong. Doesn't have the metallic luster surely

Something I've always wondered about, as I've seen it in so many different situations here: Why does no one in India ever remove the shipping wrap from anything? I've seen it on everything from car interiors, to office furniture, to toys, to motorcycle crash guards.

And I'm sure the thought that you preserved your "cool" self-image in the eyes of "certain people" will be of great comfort during the long recovery after reconstructive surgery.

You cannot justify not wearing proper safety gear, so stop trying. There is no excuse.
