I agree this is a community & we all owe a collective responsibility.
It was my mistake at my end of not reporting that post in the first place which I would ensure wont happen in future.
Sorry for OT from my side.
Thanks again for stopping all the comparisons happening here.Hero Honda Karizma

Rear suspension replacement Reg.
Today received a call from mr.chandra shekar ktm rep. Regarding new improved suspension springs from ktm.he told they finalised the powder coat they should be available in 20days.great service from their end kudos. PS: Already replaced the rear suspension spring ,but paint started peeling off again in just a 50 km ride in rain/dirty roads.

So are we all duke owners getting a replacement?Originally posted by vidy View PostToday received a call from mr.chandra shekar ktm rep. Or only the new one's would be able to enjoy those?.
Also, where I can buy a suspension without powder coat for my bike?

Lots of bikes have a "power band", i.e. an RPM range where horsepower increases rapidly and noticeably. You are probably just experiencing the Duke's powerband. As to the brake pedal, welcome to the world of performance bikes. Even monsters like the ZZR-1400 and the GSXR1000 have small pedals, as the rear disc requires very little force to be effective, not to mention the rear brake is rarely needed on any motorcycle, since the fronts provide 70% minimum of the total braking force available.Originally posted by Ponnanna1 View PostI test rode the bike on Sat and found that the brute power kicked in only once I passed 6K rpm..is this normal for Dukes or was it just the Test Ride bike
Secondly the rear brake petal is too small for my liking as only my half toe was on the petal...Duke owners please advise whether u guys have got used to it or never had this problem and its just me

Why would you want the suspension *without* powder coating? From the look of the pics earlier, the spring on the Duke is currently coated with vinyl or some other liquid plastic, which breaks up easily under friction. Powdercoating is a process by which specialized paint is electrostatically bonded to the surface, creating a very durable coating that is not readily susceptible to friction or tearing.ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time!

no, they ready to replace it for every owner who sees this as a issue. But im sceptic unless the gap large enough between spirals, IMO no coat can sustain the pressure when the spring compressed completly And by adding sand (from the roads thanks to the rear suspension mud guard) its just accelerating the process.Originally posted by devil_rider View PostSo are we all duke owners getting a replacement?

Idling stuck on higher side
While riding suddenly bike's RPM got stuck at around 4000 in idle position even after we leave the throttle. What could be the problem.
Update: After about an hour, the idling becomes normal.
What could be the issue. Please shed some light if anyone faced this problem.30+ YEARS OF RIDING

This is the only reason i decided to get a Duke, exactly two months back. Test rode it and made the purchase. But after around 400kms on the odo i felt a decrease in this feel. I thought maybe its cause i got used to it. I expected a difference after the first servicing and it came back to its true self, making rides so much more exciting. I believe it maybe the air filter and spark plugs as i do not get good fuel(i doubt it is even RON91) and my city is going through a major reconstruction so there is a lot of dirt at some places(the light kind that flies around). I've done 1600 kms on the odo now and it feels like the 6k feel is shifted to around 8k but with lesser intensity. I am learning how to ride a motorcycle the proper and perfect way, the one im working on is downshifting with perfect rpm throttle blipping at different rev ranges(could this be one of the causes of the decreasing feel of the powerband??). I used bajaj 10000 Dtsi semi synthetic oil as there is no motul outlet here and i do not want to void the warranty(not so soon). I also read somewhere that after 5k on the odo the bike feels better and faster n stuff.. is that even possible? is the 5000 kms like the implicit break-in period? I drive at revs ranging from 4k-7k and when im in the mood max upto 10k but i have never reached the point where the limiter kicks in. Do i need to rev harder? or lesser? All i am looking for is the feel i got in the first 400 kms and the 200 kms after the first servicing. Will i need to clean the airfilter and spark plugs and other stuff to get this feel everytime? and just for a few 100 kms? if so, i am ready to learn how it is to be done... and if not what could be the reason behind this?Originally posted by The Mountain View PostLots of bikes have a "power band", i.e. an RPM range where horsepower increases rapidly and noticeably. P.S. My account is a bit ****ed up i am not banned or anything. I dont know whats wrong with it(if any mod's here)...

i feel its all in your brain remember once a test drive bike impressed you. which had ridden by thousand guys in thousand ways for thousand kms .Originally posted by Sh4n3W View PostThis is the only reason i decided to get a Duke, exactly two months back. Any way few things might change the experience. Switch to full synth, its slippery than the mineral oil causes less friction so the bike revs freely. Personally i used dtsi felt bike became calm and uninteresting And switch your ride to your older bike for a while,tada.. You will remember your honey moon days with duke..:-P

i cant wear the gloves everytime i ride cuz i cant keep it in the bike when i arrive somewhere ..i do have a pair of orange-black gloves (half finger ones)Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostIts better to use gloves. It will offer some level of protection to your hands in event of a fall.
riding with pillion will rob some power .. i feel a slight surge at 4500rpm too ..the gear lever and rear brake levers are tiny but i got used to it now ..Originally posted by Ponnanna1 View PostI test rode the bike on Sat and found that the brute power kicked in only once I passed 6K rpm..is this normal for Dukes or was it just the Test Ride bike

will definitely try them .. i was looking for ktm branded handle bar grips ..i guess i have to settle for the local one which serves the purpose well ...Originally posted by devil_rider View PostI got a handle grip from a local shop for 40 bucks.. it's a steal

I had given my duke for coolant leakage problem to the SVC and when they returned my bike the brakes do not feel the same..
I guess they checked the brakes and made some modifications and the front and rear bite seems somewhat slow rather than the typical nature of them..
should I get used to this new brakes or should I ask them to modify it to the old set-up????

they might have dropped some oil on the disc plates or polished them .. just wipe the disc plates with petrol , it will be back to normalOriginally posted by joel_sherly View PostI had given my duke for coolant leakage problem to the SVC and when they returned my bike the brakes do not feel the same..

+1 The rear brake is used only to prevent the bike from doing a stoppieOriginally posted by The Mountain View PostAs to the brake pedal, welcome to the world of performance bikes. but its the other way in cruisers, the maximum braking depends on the rear brake.
Also when riding in slippery, dusty, rough terrain or when the handle bar is not straight(during a slow speed turn) one needs to use just rear brake or engine braking.
