I didnt check the power in specific rev ranges but the roll-ons and overall power delivery was much better than stock and it pulled all the way to redline really fast. For 10k i found it quite good. Kiirus guys also re-mapped one of my friend's Getz 1.3 some time ago and they did an excellent job on it too.Originally posted by splus View PostI'm thinking about getting Kiirus map. Can you please compare the stock vs. Kiirus Dukes in little more detail?
In fact I wanted to get Kiirus months ago but then I heard about Race Dynamics and their piggyback ECU solution, and have been waiting for them for already few months. And I finally visited them a week ago in Bangalore and tried thoroughly their map(s).
At the moment they are waiting for connectors for ECU, which should arrive very soon, and then will be ready to sell it.
However, the map itself wasn't really finished, it's still being worked on. We tried several different maps on my bike and I did 4-5 test rides.
The first map was made for first (old) stock ECU map and it wasn't good on my bike which has a new stock map. (Piggyback solution filters the signals through the stock ECU, so if the ECU map is changed then the piggyback map has to be changed as well).
Then they modified it and it was much better, with much better pull across entire rev range.
We tried few more tunings, based on my feedback, I was asking to mostly improve the power output from 4000 to 6000 rpm, where the stock power output is lower than after 7000 rpm, and managed to have increased power output across entire rev range. Imagine having a power that's available from 7,000 to 10,000 rpm in entire rev range, all the way to 11,800 rpm... The map still wasn't very smooth, but I'm sure it can be done if they test it properly.
Overall, it'll be a nice thing, but it made me thinking because they STILL haven't really made AND properly tested a good map, but also the map would have to be redone if the ECU is remapped by KTM.
And it'll probably be priced at 15,000 Rs, which is 5,000 Rs more than Kiirus.
Theres nothing wrong in trying. Try that Karizma sprocket.Originally posted by Doga View PostGot a new clutch plates installed on my bike and it pulls better now. Front and rear pads were changed too.
The bite is back now. Also front brake oil was replaced. THe brake lever free play has reduced and it is like when I purchased the bike. I think if level of oil goes down the ree play increases. Will get the rear oil replaced in 2k-5k more kms.
Only thing left now is the chain-sprocket set replacement. I didn't go for the stock kit as am looking to overgear my duke. I have my eyes set on the Karima rear sprocket. Has anyone changed their sprockets to any other make?
Should I use the chain too from the Karizma kit if I do use the Karizma rear sprocket? The pitch is same for both(.520).
Also will the acceleration decrease drastically with the 40 teeth Karizma sprocket?
What if I use a 15 teeth front with the 40 teeth rear? Will the bike become super slouch in city?
I know the sprockets thread is more appropriate for this query but still...
How much did u pay for Duke clutch plates? Arent they same as P220 clutch plates?Last edited by riot; 12-13-2012, 11:54 AM.Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

The Kirus map is way smoother and powerful than the stock. I have ridden the Kirus tuned duke of Abhishek(Kirus founder)with rev limiter set to 11500 rpm and it was butter smooth in the initial rpms.Almost like a Honda. Also it wheelied like a dream the one time I tried. Couldn't take it to speeds as it was a neighboorhood road, but he told me touches 145 odd. I would certainly go for it sometime in next year!!Originally posted by splus View PostI'm thinking about getting Kiirus map. Can you please compare the stock vs. Kiirus Dukes in little more detail?

Hmm...The 50kmpl quoted by me in one of my previous posts may have been a bit optimistic surely. But I did get around 40 riding at 100 odd on the mumbai-pune highway recently. May be my memory is deserting me!!Originally posted by splusI did a 600km ride the other day.
Well, from my experience the fuel economy changes a lot depending on the speed. I did some half an hour of constant 95 kmh and the console stabilized at 39 kmpl.
But if you go faster then kmpl figure goes down pretty fast.
I did a tank full to tank full measure at a stretch where I was going on average from 120 kmh to 130 kmh, and the fuel economy was around 28 kmpl.
This is all in 6th gear, of course.
So, it's up to you - if you go around 70 kmh you'd probably be able to get close to 50 kmpl, but if you redline it then it's around half of that...

I had the same situation few months back. Got my handlebar changed(you need to change only if it is bent too much and the bike is unsteerable after minor handlebar adjustments).
They are not going to repaint it to orange. They normally have only black paint(that too is not good). If you change your bar, then grips would be changed(both so extra cost). If it's not torn much you can live with that? Repiant the scrapped cluth lever to blck. They'll do it for free.
Handlebar replacement will cost you around Rs 850-900 + cost of both grips extra.
Not sure if p220 plates are same man!!Originally posted by riot View PostI didnt check the power in specific rev ranges but the roll-ons and overall power delivery was much better than stock and it pulled all the way to redline really fast. I'll go for it as soon as I can leave the bike to rest for 2-3 days needed for shipping and receiving the ECU from Kiirus (which might be next week), and of course when I figure out how to take out the ECU.
Does anyone know how to remove it and put it back in?
I was also thinking of putting a smaller rear sprocket, and have already asked the SVC in Bangalore last week if they have 42t one (the guy in charge there told me 2 months ago they will have the original KTM 42t sprocket in stock within few weeks, but nothing till now), which would boost the top speed for some 3kmh. Not much of a change but if it should be original KTM sprocket and change done in SVC.
Foreign Dukes actually come with 42t rear sprocket, btw, where's Indian ones are 43t.
I was also thinking of putting Karizma's rear sprocket, I've heard it's matching. I don't know how much of a change in pick up it would cause though, if Duke would still be a "Duke".
I read some time ago on other forum that a guy in Indonesia or Malaysia put a 33t rear sprocket on his Duke, and that he liked it a lot, much more relaxed at higher speeds but losing out on pickup. But I think that's way too much.
I'd just like to increase some top end, or in fact be able to cruise at 120-130 kmh while not straining the engine too much. But I would also like to keep the crazy pickup. Not sure if both is possible, but I think 30t sprocket might be OK, especially with Kiirus ECU.
Just a change from 33t to 30t rear sprocket would bring an increase in top speed of around 10 kmh.
Doga, maybe you try first and then others who're interested will follow if it turns out to be good.
Yeah, maybe 50 kmpl is little too high, but I don't think it would be much less if riding at 60-70 kmh, if at all.
I think the console shows pretty correct mileage if riding at a constant speed on a highway, and one can always try for himself if riding at constant speed for some 10 min...Last edited by splus; 12-13-2012, 03:04 PM.

A friend of mine has got his rear sprocket replaced with the 220s, which is 38t, if I'm not wrong, there's a considerable difference in the pulling power than the stock bike, it's nowhere as crazy but at high RPMs the engine "feels" relaxed, I was able to do 130ish in the 5th gear.Originally posted by splus View PostOK, I'm convinced!

From what I've seen, P220s, P200s and Karizmas rear sprocket is a direct fit with minor mod to the chain.
P.S. That bike didn't have its ECU flashed to the new one and 2 links from the chain had to be cut.

Interesting thoughts about Kiirus map. But i think i don't want to invest any money into the bike as i plan to sell it when the 390 hits the showrooms. If i get a remap that would just be a 10k sunk cost :PBajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

Guys please help,Something happens on my Duke as well when shifting from 3rd to 4th, either the gear gets stuck and gives a bad Vrrooom or sometimes there is no gear indication and I may have to give a little pressure for the gears to click into plase.I suspect that the thread on the shifter might have worn out or something is loose.Any suggestion guys ? I have done 14K KM and the mechanic did mention that I would have to change my spocket soon which I will be doing in the next few days.

Has happened with me many times. The gear indicator going blank and the bike giving a bad vroom. I guess the duke gearbox is not the best around. The positive feel of gears slotting in which was there before is gone too. I guess what you can do is clean the shifter(by taking it out and then spray some Wd40 on it) I have to do it after the monsoons yet.
Do keep in mind that all the slush, lube etc gets splashed on it by the chainThe hero always RIDES into the sunset!

yes.You can spray lots of WD40 on it. Then wipe clean with a cloth. keep on doing until you reach the metal beneath the muck. Now spray WD40 all over again and reinstall it.Originally posted by Bplus View PostCan WED40 be used as a degrease to clean up all that grease mess ? I havent tried it yet .But thanks for your suggestion I will give it a shot
