When life gives you Yamaha, make it RD350 not R15. :D

It's a duke 200 with a 390cc engine bolted on and ABS. Same suspension, same brakes, same chasis, same fuel tank, headlight etc.
      Bajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005
      Honda Dio : 2005-2012
      KTM 200 Duke : 2012-
      Aprilia RSV4 APRC ABS : 2014-

Personally i dont appreciate the same look of 200 the 390 boasts. It should have been new. Also regarding the fuel tank... the tank capacity should be more than the Duke 200's 10.5 litres. It would add up to frequent filling up petrol and it would hamper ones touring aspects. A bigger tank capacity would do good.

Personally, i don't really give a damn what a bike looks like, if it performs well. I'd instantly buy something that looks like a luna but goes like a moto3 bike. On the 390, I'm expecting the same handling, mass centralization, better accel/speed thanks to the 44 horses. So, i'm sold on it, given the price is right. Although i completely agree that it could use a bigger fuel tank (i think the same about the 200 as well).

Besides, everyone who is upset with the 390 retaining the physical appearace. It's an upgrade to the 200 anyways, just like the pulsar 200(old) and pulsar 180 were to pulsar 150. They looked exactly the same. I don't remember anyone complaining back then? :S

You won't get to see much of the detailing on this machine when it zooms past you because of the power it churns out (complemented by the ultra light weight). Lol!
But @dishayu mentioned, upgrades don't always mean a revamped designs. This is a performance upgrade and not a visual upgrade. Otherwise people would have started comparing it with TVS Apache and what not.
Anyways...its a star screamer on its way!!

Well, U should still see that Duke 200 is much better looking than it's elder bros... So I guess they didn't wanna ruin the beauty & gave it more Power..

I hear ya... It has just got more deadly :P
But I just hope the single cylinder ( which was kinda a disappointment given at this category, expected are twin cylinders at least ) manages the entire thing & specs well like in the 200..

                • I was just wondering... Is anyone here very concerned about the resale value of the duke 200, around 8 months from now? Duke 390 is rumoured to cost around 1.8L ex-showroom (under 2L on road). Pulsar 375 is almost certain to cost under 1.5L. The duke 200 costs 1.57L (?) in bangalore now. If anyone plans to sell it a year later, i don't think it'll fetch any more than 1-1.1L or so? That's a 40 grand hit (25%) in a single year. OUCH?

                  • guys a problem with my bike

the acceleration of the bike dropped drastically now and the mad pull is absent in the lower revs and the power across the rev-range feels linear
and the bike is giving a mileage of 21 km/lt in city under ripping , where i used to get 30+ under ripping in the city

                    .
and the exhaust note totally vanished and its like some normal bike now , no more that 2 stroke auto sound

clocked 3000 kms did 2nd servicing at 2500kms as the due date was over

bike is behaving as if there is not power and the power loss is noticeable

and my SVC is fit for nothing , he just takes the bike for a test ride comes back and says ya some problem is there i say him to verify it he says sir we are busy now , we will call u the next day and i dont get a call , seriously fed up of their attitude .

AFAIK, engine braking is good while run In, as it creates adequate pressure inside the combustion chamber for the rings to set-in.. Also, engine braking creates some sort of vacuum, which helps to clean up the carbon/other deposits in the chamber.
PROVIDED, one doesn't shoot up the RPMs to >7500 while doing such engine braking..
I agree with you Shubadip , but mate you didnot read my reply properly, i mentioned to avoid excessive engine braking , did not advised to not use it .

Also read some posts about Motoman's method i will just add my two cents - if you want to play safe go by user manual or if you are medium risk taker like me try motomans but stick to factory recommended RPM of 7500 at-least for 500kms or so i.e. i mean revv as hell but do not cross the limit. third options is surely going Bonkers , its your hard earn money so surely you are best person to decide .

I will advise changing oil in intial 100kms once as it does goes a long way in prolonging life of engine.

The KTM guys said that? Weird... Well I think they must have done something wrong while servicing. Avoiding it so.. Press for immediate check the next time u visit. It's ur loss otherwise.
