AFAIK the rear sprocket needs to be smaller in order to improve your top end. So the sprocket needs to be smaller. Or the front one(from the engine) to be bigger.Originally posted by malcolmk View Postya the remap does cut the rev limiter to 10k rpm but now ktm offeres a bigger rear sprocket which improves top end by 4 kmph so what u loose in flashing ecu is gained by sprocket all new bikes come with new map ecu
A 42 or 41 teeth rear sprocket would do good. The one offered by KTM powerparts orange sprocket is a 48 teeth one. It will improve your low end and mid power characterstics making it more flickable and peppy. It wont increase your top end.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

how much kms has it done?? My Duke had Motul 7100 20w50 since the day i bought. Running smooth since then. Dtsi 10000 is also mentioned in the mannual but i like to prefer Motul anytime anyday.Originally posted by ankit mishra View Postwhich is the oil that should be used in Duke...

to increase top speed you need to attach smaller sprocket at the rear end and a bigger in the front...
for more information on what sizing and what gearing ration you can go through the below article on sprocketing... its a good read...

and is very harsh at all rpms greater than 5000.
what would motul 7100 cost?
and is it as per the bike advised ratings..?
semi synth or full synth?

Well, U should get it checked then. Serviced if required. Tell them about all this & ask them to get it thoroughly checked, specially the FI & ECU mapping. Might have some malfunction. Oil shouldn't be of an issue that great unless it has leaked out completely or is contaminated. Servicing should help clear out the problem.Originally posted by ankit mishra View Postwhich is the oil that should be used in Duke...

P.S - Would like to know if any Duke owners in Chennai (I am in Mogappair) are interested in going for rides in the weekend. Would love to join.
Special thanks to hunkofgals for answering my stupid questions and those beautiful keychains.

The duke although is not that full of vibes but one can feel the engine working quite easily through the handlebars...the revving nature of duke. You might feeling such. But still if u feel its harsh go to SVC get it checked. Motul 7100 20w50 is synth and will cost 1200rs for 1.4 litres which is filled in duke. And yes its advised.Originally posted by ankit mishramy bike has done 500kms.

the higher octane value in the petrol is for the engines with higher compression ratio. If, for example, a merc's petrol engine has a compression ratio of <10:1 it doesn't need a higher octane fuel. Duke's engine is 11.3:1 (something around this) which his high so it can easily take higher octane fuel. I have filled speed 97 (octane value is 97) mostly and i have felt a clear difference in the bike's performance but with an expense of a more heated engine (and of course price).Originally posted by thumpmeister View PostI wonder what all the KTM owners and other high end bike owners would do considering many fuel pumps are not stocking premium fuels nowadays because of the drastic drop in the offtake of this fuel. I guess then everyone would be forced to use simple unleaded petrol. Heck, i have seen Jaguars and Mercs in Mumbai using normal unleaded petrol. Surely, they are more high performance machines than the DUke.

I too am getting the same figures. I use the tankful to tankful method though, I know its not perfect. Meter console indicated figures are mostly 41-45Kmpl and with a smooth right wrist. It drops to 34-35Kmpl when I ride as I please.Originally posted by Janesh.J View PostI am getting 36-38 (reserve to reserve) in city riding. Add another 2-3 kmpl on the highways. ODO indicated mileage gives a higher figure as it is updated every 800 meters.

Clutch plate went kaput. Needs replacement.
The engine problem I mentioned while coming back from Pune, which I was fearing to be a seizure, was actually because of the spent clutch plate.
Now I am not wheelie popper man!! how on earth it happened, I don't know. And oh, it'd be a paid replacement. Regular wear tear I am told. Rs 1300. It's been barely 7 months I bought the bike. The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

I used to try wheelies on my duke like a deranged person, never succeeded, this might be relevant to my interests.
And the day of 390 Duke revelation is (hopefully) getting closer, can't wait (No OT)

If u still have the plate, get it checked. It shouldn't give in so early & easily, even if ur popping wheelies every now & then. It might be a manufacturing defect..Originally posted by Doga View PostClutch plate went kaput. Needs replacement.
