Better in terms of illumination ?

Yes...................what I found that the Philips Xtreme vision emits a cool daylight- not white, but a whitish yellow-which means it would mix up with yellow tint neon of streetlight, but in darkness, you will feel that the intensity of light from the KTM actually resembles that of a combined headlamp beam of a 18-wheeler.KTM's reflector makes it possible.
The stock bulb was good being an OSRAM OEM, but the Xtreme vision floods it.

The bulb cost me 650 INR .

The 55/60 halogen bulb is simply plug and play.

The pilot lamp is Philips Ultinon which emits 6700K temp light for a w5w lamp- it cost me 800 bucks :P

Overall illumination is great- The high beam is a shocker to upcoming traffic, while the low beam is deep and with the 6700 K w5w pilot- its intense too.

But these lights are not for Fog tearing- we need to see some raw fog lamp for riding in foggy winters

This is the International site, It's not yet on the Indian site. Not even the 390. But guess probably they will put it if it's on that.

              • Can someone please help me out!
I want a new horn and headlamps for my duke, the question is will it void the warranty of my bike.?
I asked the same at the service center but their reply was pretty unconvincing, seems like they aren't aware.

Also my bike heats up a lot, which i have heard is not so uncommon with the duke, but she just abruptly shuts down sometimes after getting heated up. To this also the service guy told me " it's fine sir, I don't think its something to worry about."
I will be going for the third service in a day or two, How do I convince those guys that my bike does not feel right !? (I know this might sound stupid but, its not easy to make them understand!)

And I have no clue about headlamps so a little guidance here would great.! I would like something suited for touring as I will be doing the Delhi-Leh trip this season, and a couple more before that.
When life gives you Yamaha, make it RD350 not R15. :D

The Horn shouldn't void the warranty. Headlamps too. Cuz they are not the parts included in the warranty norms. But make sure about the headlamps again. City riding will cuz almost all bikes to heat up. But it shouldn't be too much. Ask them to check everything, coolant, radiator, etc.. Press on ur word. Stay if u can while it's been serviced. & if ur going touring, don't worry. The heating issue will not bother u technically.

actually, as per the latest European rules, all the motorcycles should get ABS. thats why you see ABS for 125, 200 and others in the GB (Great Briton) site.

now its up to Bajaj, whether they want to manufacture different versions for India and other countries or same.

since the manufacturing unit is in India, different versions for different countries means, different assembly line (please correct me if i am wrong here), which will just increase the cost of production for Bajaj.

so I guess, even we will have the ABS versions of 200s with an increase in price. but anymore increase in price of 200 will take it close to the 390 (if the rumors of 1.8L to 2L ex-showroom in India are correct). in this case, 390 may be between 2.25 - 2.5 ex-showroom (which is not a bad price either)

                      share your thoughts guys...

The assembly line & techs remain the same. They can't bring any change to that to meet the optimum design parameters. KTM wouldn't allow it :P.
But yeah, it's up to Bajaj to introduce the ABS on it. & That will require an addition to the assembly line, so basically Ur rite there. But the std bike parts & all require the basic assembly set up to be same everywhere.
ABS will increase the price & a bit of total weight of the bike, logical fact. But it should be worth that.

                        • just now came back from the SVC

the guy took the bike for ride

                          and said its fine
then i went along with him as a pillion and showed him the problem

he said it was common so they introduced a new map
i said i was aware of it and i dont want the map then he connected the diagnoistic tool and checked all parameters they all were fine
and then cleaned both the discs and adjusted gear lever
and on my way back home

i noticed that i could touch 3 digits easily on a small stretch , but the hiccup in 4k RPM is still present

Duke 390 is rumoured to cost around 1.8L ex-showroom (under 2L on road). Pulsar 375 is almost certain to cost under 1.5L. The duke 200 costs 1.57L (?) in bangalore now. If anyone plans to sell it a year later, i don't think it'll fetch any more than 1-1.1L or so? That's a 40 grand hit (25%) in a single year. OUCH?

1.8l ??? Those are just rumors dishayu... They are planning to hike the price of Duke 200 as per the PBK sales person to 1.7L to 1.8L from Jan or Feb 2013... the 390 should be upwards of 2.5L if not 3L.. first off, they wouldn't want to compromise on the KTM brand by pricing it under 2L .. That's what I think.. anyways, we'll have to wait and see what really unfolds

BTW, This ownership thread has become a 390 Gossip thread .. well, as long as this thread is alive and kicking..that shouldn't matter I suppose

not completely sure whether it will cost more than 2.25L.

the reason is, different engine and abs are the only additional stuff. rest of the specs remains same. same suspension, same disks, same body. so i guess engine's and abs's will be charged more...

Well, just to compare with the Europe pricing for 2013 models

                                Duke 200 ABS : 4490 Euros
                                Duke 390 ABS : 4990 Euros

Now, i know that we're not on a price parity with Europe, but going from 1.3L (200) to 1.8L (390) is still a nice, big 40% jump (as opposed to just 11% in Europe). The math behind it goes something like this : a duke 390 shares all compnents with duke 200 apart from the engine, which is essentially only adding 10kg of extra metal to the bill of materials (steel costs 0.8$ per kg). So, if KTM/Bajaj want, they can sell Duke 390 at exactly the same price point as Duke 200. And i'm pretty sure they'd be happy with making an extra 50k on what is essentially the same thing from manufacturing perspective, especially given that the volumes would be MUCH higher in our price sensitive market, if it's priced under 2L. That's why i do believe there is some weight to those rumours. I'm sure Bajaj will distance them barely enough to avoid cannibalization of duke 200 sales by the 390.
