Any pointers on why it would happen so? Any trick to start the bike if it doesn't start?
NEVER Twist the throttle when starting the bike because this does not allow the fuel injectors to function properly post starting up.

Today while coming to office it happened to me too. The malfunction light suddenly turned on. Then kept on flickering for a while. Then turned off for one or two secs then came on again. This time it was stable. No flickering. The engine kept running though and I had almost reached office. So parked the bike, turned ignition off and then back again. The light was there still.
This reminds me of the instance when it had come on after a water wash and later had gone after a while.Only this time no water wash. May be my injectors have developed a snag or something. So now things to be looked at tomorrow at the svc :
1)Rear Brakes Emanating a screeching sound(which might need be changed as 10K on odo)
        2) front brakes have lost bite(which might need be changed as 10K on odo)
        3)Clutch plate replacement
4)chain sprocket change : Rattling noise all the time from the chain, even after cleaning and lubing. The chain has uneven extensions across links making chain tightening a very irritating exercise(This was at 6.5 K at the odo, but I kept on rolling with the same chain till now)
5)Malfunction light coming on(probably an injector problem)

So what next guys? Trellis frame change may be??

          • Today i completed 10k kms on my bike.

Had done all three services at 800kms, 4700kms and 7800kms respectively. Now all the free services are over and i am waiting for the first paid service. Wonder how much that will cost. Although is still good 3000kms away.:-)

Till now haven't face any major issues. Following are the issues face by me till date:-
            1. Chain noise : The chain has gone loose now. It needs change. I will still stick to it till 13k kms.
            2. Low Oil Pressure : At around 6k kms I started getting "Low Oil Pressure" on my console. Taking the bike to svc found that engine oil was very low. It couldn't be seen in oil level too. Anyways the guy changed the oil filter and refilled the engine oil, the issue hasnt come again till date.
            3. Gear problems
            a. 2nd Gear : Very wierd. Whenever I accelerate hard in second gear at 7k rpm of engine the gear slips and comes to neutral. Although I accelerate hard rarely but now this problem is getting serious. I will check with SVC and make them correct whatever is wrong.
            b. 5th to 6th change : Sometimes when i change from 5-6 gear the bike runs normal for 3-5seconds but then suddenly it will go to nuetral between 5th and 6th gear.

Looks like theres some serious problem with my gear box. And needs to corrected.

            4. Puncture : Happened only once till now. Once my rear tyre got punctured around 3k kms. there was a huge nail. Got it locally fixed but the air didnt stay in tyre even for overnight. Took the bike to svc and they inspected and found that the nail had damaged the tyre's rim and cannot be fixed. First they told me change the tyres. Then on saying that the tyres are just 3k kms old, they suggested to put a tube inside my tyre. Since then i am running one tubeless tyre and one with tube tyre.

Apart from above issues i havent faced any much. Pretty happy with it.

Went to the svc today. The clutch cable was changed. They told to monitor for change in clutch play, which will signal a damaged plate, for a week. If the play vanishes, then the plate would have to be changed. Or else the plate would be OK to keep. But I feel the plate is gone, because the bike doesn't accelerate like it used to not even in 1st or 2nd gear.

The malfunction light light problem could not be solved. The apparent reason is some loose connection in some socket or wiring. The mech tried and it went away initially. BUt on my way back home it came on again. Headed back to svc but since it was lunch break I was told to wait. I decided to get soe work done in that 1 hour and come back. Only the work took 2 hours in getting done! Hurried back to know that the mech was leaving for some urgent work.
So basically, everything is as it was. Am thinking of leaving the bike there this monday and collect it whenever they get everything sorted. These frequent rides to the svc is getting on my nerves man

I'm using Speed 97 (93 isn't available here any more). It makes no noticeable difference in riding experience at all. Fuel economy does seem to be about 3-4 kpl higher.

But isn't that above the Manufacturer's recommended 95RON so is it safe to fill RON97 with Speed97? Anyway what I'd like to know is today I visited a Bharat Petroleum Petrol Bunk and there was Speed97 and Speed. When I asked the attendant about Speed93 he said that the Speed option was just that. So I filled "Speed" so was the attendant right? Is Speed 93 Octane or does it have to have the tag Speed93 just like Speed97 does?

The manufacturer recommendation is MINIMUM RON they want you to use.
KTM in india suggest minimum RON91, KTM Europe suggests minimum RON95.
Higher RON = better automotive fuel. (Higher RON number fuels can withstand higher compression ratio before autoignition, hence reduce knocking)

The attendant was wrong. "Speed" is 91 octane rating fuel like the regular petrol BUT it also contains some additives. "Speed 97" is 97 octane rating fuel with additives. "Speed 93" was 93 octane petrol with additives but it has been discontinued by BP after they launched "Speed 97".
