  • Greetings fellow xBhpians. My first post here.

Bought Duke about a month ago, done about 500 Kms so far, great fun indeed. Plan to go for first service next week. For fuel I use Premium petrol, I guess that is what they recommend in the manual. The bike is manufactured in Oct, no niggles, irritants noticed so far, it runs great. Escaped the price increase as I booked the bike on Oct 4th, the increase took effect a few days later. On the road price I paid was 1.36 lacks I think. Following are a few pics I took.

The Helmet and Gloves are from Spartan Progear in Chennai, I also bought a pair of riding jeans from them along with Helios Jacket. Don't have the jacket yet as they are sitting at customs in Chennai. Also bought a pair of Alpinestar S-MX-1 riding boots (Black) from Dream Sporting Goods (Planet DSG) and a pair of riding safety boots from Orazo. Don't have the pics, will get them later.

    • So as per the announcements Duke 125/200 will be featuring ABS from now. So surely they would be available and we will be able to fit those i guess. How much would it cost any ideas?

will purchase the bulb and 800 bucks for the PILOT LAMP , are u serious :O ?
Yup I am, coz the awe factor after putting them on the Duke, would put the Audi and BMW DRLs to shame - even in broad daylight

It is a 5w LED having 6700K temp..............a bomb for a pilot lamp I would say.
Actually Philips Ultinon series is dedicated to LED lighting and HID- so if the pilot costs 800bucks- then u can think what the 55/60 HIDs of this series would cost and their subsequent quality.

Unfortunately they are not on sale in India I think and hence I am great with the Extreme Vision which increases atleast 50-60% intensity from the stock bulb.
But also, the light comes flooding all over with the bulb(almost 100% more filled up light than the stock- with a longer high beam).

For a good 200 cc bike as our Duke - dats enough I guess in terms of cost effective, reliable lighting.

Philips Ultinon pilots are only 6700K white.

            • Hey where did you source the Ultinon from? They are barely available in India.
I wanted one badly but couldn't find it reasonably priced.

We have Motorcycle Life-style shoppes in Kolkata which stock original products of Philips and other reputed manufacturers like Bosch,Osram,Roots,Hella ,helmets of SOL/LS2 and jackets too etc.
I got the pilot Ultinon from them- but they still do not have the HID from Ultinon series :O

Well, They did introduce the ABS on the duke in the Milan show. Yet to announce on it's availability in India, but hopes & chances are surely high. Getting it on the previously bought ones should be a treat & good for those owners who would really want it.
But the price remains a mystery which I guess will be disclosed with the launch in India in Jan/Feb'13.
The modern ABS from Bosch might be the lightest to be introduced on the Duke.. But I'm still not saying it as a confirmed thing, just picked it up from some blogs around it.

The helmet complements well to your Duke. A nice taste I must say. Congrats and ride well.

                      A must for me...........before I do any rev-limiter or performance upgrades !!!
Hence need to know the cost of getting one installed on the existing bikes which are without it.

                      • Trouble.

Guys I have not been doing great recently, had a minor accident (not while riding) so was not riding from quite sometime, due to a broken right hand.
I am better now, so i took my bike for a spin today, and although i was facing this problem before, where she just used to shut down after getting heated up but today she just wouldn't start at first. And when she did, she just shuts down as soon as I let go of the accelerator.

I came back home and tried searching for something unusual and I found something. Looks horrible.
Can someone please help me out as to what could have caused this.
When life gives you Yamaha, make it RD350 not R15. :D

That looks like a leak. Not sure. Get it checked & confirmed the next chance u get to. There were some stalling issues initially from the bike, but it was said to be rectified. So if it's a leak, & if coolant for some odd reason, mite be the root for the problem. The gasket should be properly checked too when u take it down to the svc center.

Mine was one of the very first dukes, belongs to the first batch, could she be having those stalling problems ?
And i have also heard about some mapping issues with the bikes from my lot, though i never faced any problems so I did not get it looked at, will be heading to the svc in a couple of days. If its a leak how much should I be worried about this ?

Well, if they could have it rectified before, they should be able to do it again for ur's. If oil leak, then proper checking & tightening should do the trick. If any gasket or pump problem, might get replaced. In any case, all u need to worry about is to make sure the problem is thoroughly checked & rectified. Shouldn't poise much as the KTM svc guys, as I have heard, are much better trained & good than the bajaj svc guys.

                              • Planning to install a new set of off road tyres on my Duke I went through several shops but found no size for 150/60 the highest available was 140. So i guess there is no harm in installing 140 one.??
Also if i want to increase my front suspension travel how could i do that??
