Just read the owners manual after your post.
yes they have mentioned that the warranty is applicable for 1st owner only.
I am sorry, I should have read the manual before commenting.
There is one way you can get through -
Purchase the bike, but dont get it transferred on your name (if its ok with the 1st owner). Also the 1st owner will get the form 29 & form 30 (will conform the numbers again tomorrow) signed from you as a proof that the bike is sold to you but is still on his name till you get it transferred in your name.
This way, the RC will contain his name (first owners).
But again, check with the owner if he is OK with this.
This happens a lot in car markets.
ASSASSIN07 - the idea you gave is not legal in any terms, my suggestion would be to go in for a new bike rather than doing all this which may cause trouble for some one. That trouble will be bigger than the saving of few thousand which he is going to make by purchasing a second hand bike.

For everyone, India almost every motor vehicle comes with a warranty to first owner and thats true for cars and motor cycles.

Never suggest to do this to anyone, this will help you when selling bike/car as you can say this is a single owner bike/car. But, first it is illegal. Then you will have to come across lot of issues if the bike meets an accident or stolen.

Even if the 1st owner agree, it is equal risk to the past and present owner.

You also cannot renew the Insurance on your name since the bike is on 1st owners name.
Again when claiming, if the insurance terms are you pay money and they pay you back (in case of Govt. insurance) you will sure have troubles.

      It is always like this:

New bike with warranty without trouble till the warranty period.

      OR

2nd hand bike, on your own risk.

At last the decision is of the Buyer !!!

Any help how to clean the mud off the radiator fins??
also i saw these radiator mud foams over internet. Are they available here??

          • Dead battery !!

I didnt ride my Duke for 2 weeks, as i was out of station . When i tried to start it up, i found that the battery was dead. the instruments lighted up but it didnt have enough juice to turn the starter.

And that too with just two weeks of idle. My 7 years old Pulsar started up perfectly with its granpa battery. Could the battery be defective or was it not charging at all while i was riding the duke ?

Anyway i called up Mr. Prasanna from KTM Bangalore. He said he would send a guy on monday with a spare battery and take the bike to the service center. If the battery is defective would i get a new one as it is still under warranty ?

Is it advisable to push start a bike with Fi ? i didnt try that

If you have battery power to make the fuel pump work, then you can try push starting the bike.

I was in to similar situation sometime back on my Pulsar 220 Fi. The battery was dead but was enough to power the Fuel Pump. I did a push start and it started. But, if the fuel pump is not working there is no point in try push starting the bike.

Once your ignition is switched on, you can actually hear the fuel pump working and stops at the time of initialization. That would be only for few seconds.

Soak it with soap water, use a tooth brush in only upwards motion. to remove small stones struck use a tooth pick . It takes lot of patience .

More importantly glue a mud flap to the front mud guard ,it stops 90% of the dirt/stones. Its a must for dukes. Its cheap and make sure its of hard rubber so that it wont bends and touches the front tire .

                            Subject: Warranty issue on transfer

                            Dear Sir/Madam

A friend of mine recently purchased the duke 200 and is moving abroad. Therefore I plan to buy his motorcycle. Only thing stoping me is, as i get his bike transferred from his name to my name and get it registered to a different location will :

                            1. KTM still honor the warranty on this motorcycle (under my name). The motorcycle is fully stock and untampered in any way.
                            2. If above is true, than if i get it transferred from New Delhi to Chandigarh, will KTM Chandigarh look after the warranty or will i have to run to delhi every time i need to avail something under warranty.

It will be an enormous help if you could revert me for the above as soon as possible. I am a fan of your product and eagerly looking forward to own one.

                            Regards
                            Ab
Not sure if this has been posted earlier or if anyone has come across this.. see the pic attached. I was just browsing thru the ktm site and came across this KTM FAQs regarding warranty.
even though this is technically from the ktm india site, i wonder what made them officially decline warranty if the bike was maintained/serviced as recommended. Well in India, most of the times its like, we buy the bike and are taken for a ride too

Never heard about such a policy, got to hear it here for the first time!
What's the reason behind this? If a few week/month old bike is sold and the second owner comes across a manufacturing defect then he is doomed.
                              Unacceptable, indeed!
When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bike.
Then I realised that The Lord doesn't work that way,
so I stole one and asked him to forgive me.
