The tire pressures mentioned on both the Swing arm and the Manual are same.
    Without pillion : F - 26, R - 30
    With pillion : F - 28, R - 32
The values mentioned on the Swing arm is nothing but a sticker attached on the left side, on the chain guard. In my Case the sticker got washed away during the time of servicing.
So, stick to the manual or verify with the SVC guys.

Picked up the bike, turned it off, turned it on, lowered the gears (was on 6th gear, didn't realize), ignition was stuck, wiggled it a bit and good to go. Rolled the throttle in, and sped away with passers by looking at me.

Time to give the bike and myself a wash. Bike was stinking a lot, and I am sitting in the office, stinking a little (or maybe I just think that I am stinking not sure). Will take a half day and look for a bike wash place.

Am yet to check on the bike's exterior if it's Ok. I just parked it and came in office without looking at bike (Guess I am afraid to find out something damaged or missing)

P.S: Anyone knows of a good bike wash place near Ghatkopar or Powai in Mumbai?
I suggest you to take your bike to the near by KTM SVC center for water wash, bcoz they know well, how to clean the DUKE. While washing the bike you must be very careful with the Radiator and the under body wiring. I got some serious instructions from the KTM engineers before the delivery, regarding the same.

Yes, the air pressure mentioned on some manuals was wrong (the initial lot).
        Front - 25 psi
        Rear - 28.5 psi (w/o pillion) / 32 (w pillion)

I ride with pillion rarely but still get the rear filled to 32.

        • The bike's been running quite normally for the last couple of days; no major issues luckily. I'm yet to get the dented/broken parts replaced/straightened. SVC says I'll have to leave the bike at their's for 3-4 days in case I'm claiming insurance. Can't quite understand why it would take this long when there aren't too many parts that need repair/replacement. The mirror and left side crash guard will surely need to be replaced from what I see. The clamp (silver portion below the headlight assembly; if I've understood it right, called triple clamp ASS from Doga's mail) that holds the fork, appears mostly alright, with only the handle bar limiter/metal stop (a 1cm protrusion from the surface) having gotten knocked off. If it were a local mechanic, a quick weld would probably do I'd imagine. The mechanic who'd come to repair the bike said the SVC will mostly not weld the piece and look at replacing the whole clamp if I insist. I'm in a dilemma here. The lock seems to work fine now. The handlebar turns (turning radius, I mean) a little extra to the left than earlier and this is the only visible difference I can see so far. Will it cause any safety concerns if the clamp is left as it is or would it be advisable to get it replaced? In case of replacement, would they have to remove the fork/front assembly and put it back again? I'm a little paranoid about them doing this and hence the dilemma.

@Manu: zero claim bonus? Hmmm, haven't heard much about this yet; will check.

@Edd - shit luck, mate. Hope you & your bike ain't seriously hurt.

@Syed, Ankit - I've been using 25+29 for singles and 25+32 for doubles (per page 91 of the manual). Has there been some revision to this?

Fortunately its not serious. The right side guard is bent backwards tho. Will get it fixed on Saturday probably. Maybe they'll charge for a new side guard, however, this can be straightened with some force.

How much is the total estimated cost that for your repairs? Or will they be giving the estimates later?

            • ^ I'm yet to take it to the SVC; don't know how much it would cost. Might check tomorrow or day after but waiting for some suggestions on the clamp and insurance.

The clamp would mostly be alright. You can live with it being a bit more careful while taking tight turns. You can get someone to weld a limiter back but then you won't be able to claim insurance later on that part if you wish to. If forks are not misaligned then you can get away by simply welding a turn limiter on the clamp. And since it is 4000 + with VAT(I had quoted without VAT earlier), it'd be wiser for you to claim insurance if you do wish to replace it. Because then the cost of the part + labour +taxes would be close to 6K. Insurance claims take a bit of time. The surveyor comes, surveys the bike, approves the repairs after checking the condition of the bike and considering your explanation of the crash. Then you tell the svc guys to go ahead or not keeping in mind the estimates the insurer approves. Then the svc goes ahead with the repairs and places the order for parts if they don't have them. All of this takes time. so...

                  • Hey edd, check for a p200/220 crash guard in a some other area...I feel it should be a driect fit

                    • They found a leg guard in stock. Total cost 350Rs. for wash and leg guard. Here's the breakup:
                      Leg Guard RH: 120
Bolt Socket Head upp: 5 (Any idea what this is?)
                      Washing: 150
                      Leg guard fitting: 150
                      Service Tax: 25
                      Total: 350

About the tyre pressure this is what SVC guy said:
                      Normal riding: Front - 28psi; Rear - 32psi
                      Fast/Grip riding: Front - 25 psi; Rear - 30 psi

Update: Tried F/R 28/32 psi today definitely feels better. Also less bumpiness in front than usual, while on uneven road.

                      • Quite weird changing spark plugs at every service. Apart from technical aspects i think KTM recommendations for the SVCs to change the spark plug at every service may be to extract very best out of the engines. I guess!!

Seems like they have excess 2012 inventory with them

Whats the reason they are saying for changing the plugs so often?

                          Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

I sold my old Pulsar 150cc (Had wonderful moments with her) and I was waiting to get Duke 200 ABS version, but I spoke to Pune dealers and got the information that It will take 6 more months. So immediately I changed my mind and booked one Dukie for me.
Payed the amount and went for selecting the bike. I felt like Swayamwar with all the hot models standing in front of me to choose them .
Then I kept my hand on the authentic KTM (Orange one) confirming that I selected her (The main attraction was the BYBRE name mentioned on the brakes is in silver color but for few others, it is in Black color and also the chasis no. ************007 ). Done the paper work and asked them to get my darling ready to take her home.
From my previous posts, I read that Teflon coating is for free. I asked the same, but guess what, disappointment.... it's chargeable(Teflon coating (1+1) & 3M scratch guard film at tank = 1560/-).
Please let me know whether I got cheated for this?
After that... Chakkas... The Bike is a stunning beauty now. I asked to check all the oil levels and the coolant as well.
After that I got some demo from Ravi, the KTM engineer I suppose. Thanks XBHP for providing lot's of information before, I felt like an Front bench student asking all the questions to him and got some good recognition from others. I learned all about the Cockpit and adjusted the RPM from 5K to 7.5K.
The same day I got a new Helmet LS2 FF 350 for 2.6K in JC road.
Along with the petrol coupon they give, I filled 2- liters of Speed petrol and headed towards my home. The first riding was totally new because of the seating position. The traffic was huge, so the radiator started its job blowing hot air on my legs (Now I got used to it).
No problem so far, but the tires are very slippery (be careful for the first few hundred kms).
After reaching home (Around 20 Km from showroom), everyone started asking questions on my bike(How much?, Which company?, What is the name of the bike?, Is it an imported one).
In the night, I took a 10 km ride and filled the tank with Shell Super unleaded petrol and went back home.

But still I miss few things in my bike when I start comparing with P200 NS.
                            * Bar end sliders,
                            * Tidy tail,
                            * Front number plate mounted under the headlight or a better place,
                            * Sound...

But Duke is Duke no doubt in it. It's worth each & every penny. It still has many options to alternate(Powerparts).

Thanks for reading it patiently. Pics will be coming soon along with some awesome experiences with my Baby Duke.
Nice going mate. May the smiles add up.

                            Cheers!
