In either of the cases, the warranty is void for 1st/ 2nd/ or nth number of customer of that bike.
So, yes, you should check out with the svc of KTM if the bike is services were done in time & other things.
As per the original question, the warranty wont be void with change in ownership!

    Subject: Warranty issue on transfer

    Dear Sir/Madam

A friend of mine recently purchased the duke 200 and is moving abroad. Therefore I plan to buy his motorcycle. Only thing stoping me is, as i get his bike transferred from his name to my name and get it registered to a different location will :

    1. KTM still honor the warranty on this motorcycle (under my name). The motorcycle is fully stock and untampered in any way.
    2. If above is true, than if i get it transferred from New Delhi to Chandigarh, will KTM Chandigarh look after the warranty or will i have to run to delhi every time i need to avail something under warranty.

It will be an enormous help if you could revert me for the above as soon as possible. I am a fan of your product and eagerly looking forward to own one.

    Regards

Well this was an expected answer. However, I'd still suggest that you can go ahead and buy the bike. Most of the bikes are problem free Only the first lot had a few issues... Anyway its your call.. Happy riding..
Live to ride.. ride to forget..

I would strongly suggest that you buy a new KTM 200 duke becasue the warranty although you may not think it to be neccesary really will save you tons of money if ever there is an issue. Like in my case I noticed the MFD getting a few drops of water inside it. Mr. Mayank the area manager from KTM said that I would get a completely new unit under warranty. So having warranty does pay off. Besides the warranty also applies to the engine as well so If something happened to malfunction they would replace it for free. Best example of that would be someone having the Head replaced due to excessive valve noise.

Since a micron is a thousandth of a millimeter, we're talking just over one tenth of a millimeter(!) total increase between turns of the spring. That is an infinitesimal difference, particularly since the spring on the Duke is progressively-wound. That means part of the spring is wound in very tight (closely-spaced) coils, so it flexes more easily. Under even moderate compression, those coils (which by the way are the ones where most of the damage is happening) actually touch. Therefore, the tiny increase in space is pointless since the spring will still touch, and now the paint is even thinner so there's less paint to rub off before you get through to the metal. Even under mild to minimal compression, all it takes is a few grains of dust or sand in there and there will still be contact on both surfaces, and in this example you now have a known abrasive scraping at that now-thinner paint.

I could understand if the explanation was that the thinner paint would be more flexible, and therefore more resistant to chipping, but the space explanation makes no sense, since the spring will still rub there, and now there's less paint to protect it.

This could, of course, be an example of a marketing guy completely misunderstanding what the techs told him (not the first time *that's* ever happened). I hope that's the case.
I didn't have the kind of reasoning you do so I really couldn.t afford a rebuttal to them on the micron bit. But that is what they think the problem is. Me personally I can't even see the White in my monoshock coz I haven't washed the bike for ages now, so I really can't spot any chips just yet.

          • One of the hooks(hard plastic bit)that hold the rear seat in place broke, i just dont know when it happened or how, noticed it today while washing my Duke. Can i get a replacement seat (if there is any warranty on seats) or some solution?

Quality of plastics is questionable at times :|

            • radiator mudding and sound from front wheel.

              1) Sound coming from the front tyre i guess...i heared while i was pulling my bike. It was a husky (khhee) mild sound. as if something was rubbing.

2)Also the front throws a lot of mud to the radiator..it might block the free air-flow and thus cooling.
Should i simply clean it with mild water spray and brush or you people recommend something more profound.
I saw few posts earlier a flap attached to the front mudguard. Ill take that as the last option as it ruins the look a little.

That is really a freak accident coz usually seats don't break that easy. Atleast you don't expect it to. Just write an email to [email protected] they are really quick to create solutions to these problems. I'm sure it would be covered under warranty for you too.

I don't think they would replace it under warranty. In fact I don't think that breakage of any plastic part is replaceable under warranty!!

That's the front disc brake most probably caused due to accumulated dirt/sand particles. Just wash it with water and wipe with a clean cloth and it will be gone.

                        Hi,
Just read the owners manual after your post.
yes they have mentioned that the warranty is applicable for 1st owner only.
I am sorry, I should have read the manual before commenting.
There is one way you can get through -
Purchase the bike, but dont get it transferred on your name (if its ok with the 1st owner). Also the 1st owner will get the form 29 & form 30 (will conform the numbers again tomorrow) signed from you as a proof that the bike is sold to you but is still on his name till you get it transferred in your name.
This way, the RC will contain his name (first owners).
But again, check with the owner if he is OK with this.
This happens a lot in car markets.

I was thinking on the same lines, but i am a little short of time as my mba exams are knocking on the doors and i work as well. I was not in the favor of the new one as i would have to relocate the bike, so thought will buy after i am relocated. I am still to make the call because the price is very very tempting and the bike is in immaculate condition.

One more thing i would bother you for is how long is the bike is in warranty, i year or 2years?
