@vidy- I had put a diy steel mesh radiator guard.what happened after some time is all fine mud got filtered and deposited on radiator.I noticed this while on a ride to malshej ghats, Fan was turning on even at speeds of 80-100 kmph on highway.sensing something is wrong? I had a look at radiator and all of it was covered.quickly removed the stelmesh, poured a bottle of water over radiator, and drove off.no problems yet.If you WANT to keep the mesh, you should clean the radiator.Motorcycling heals, big time...

! That would alert those who have got a DIY radiator guard. Can anybody using the R&G radiator guard let us know if you too face the same thing. Thanks ynike99.Just wanted to share what I had earlier posted on FB
You will see the High Coolant Temperature warning on the digital meter in the below scenario. These would also be some of the reasons for engine heating up...
1.If it is a new bike and has clocked less than 5000 KM.
- It is normal for any Duke with less than 5000 KM on the odo to heat up quicker in stop and go traffic.Pullover to the side of the road and wait for 15 minuets for the bike to cool down.15 minuets is not a typo.
2.The radiator fan is not working at all.
- You need to get it replaced as soon as possible and is covered under warranty.
3.The radiator fins or fan is clogged with mud, dirt and bugs or there is something stuck close to the fan hindering its movement.
- Wash your bike and clean the radiator fins with a soft shoe brush or tooth brush.
4.Coolant level is at or below the MIN mark.
-Get the coolant topped up as soon as possible.
5.After market radiator mesh like guard or electrical modifications done to the wiring causing low voltage to pass to the radiator fan.Last edited by Bplus; 08-21-2012, 08:47 PM.

Suggestions Please
Hello Dukers,
I am planning to go for DUKE 200 after a long confusion.
Have few curious questions, if someone can help me on it.
1. What is the easy cruising speed for this bike.
2. Did someone record the RPM vs Speed in actuals.
3. How is the bike stability on high speeds say >= 120 and braking.
4. What fuel should we use? only xtra premium's & Speed or normal will still do.
I drive 25 kms a day one way on NH to office daily.
I do some touring as well, say can we cruise on 100 or 110 kmph comfortably for about 200 kms in single stretch ? what would be the engine rpm at that point of time and do engine feel stressed that time.

Someone stole a bit of coolant
I had a terrible experience today.
The premises I park at during my working hours, actually holds a lot of four wheelers and their drivers throughout the day.
My Duke due to its brightness and flamboyant nature is already an attractive bike, but it has also attracted a lot of unwanted attention.
When I came back home from workplace, I found that the radiator cap is loosely tightened and the coolant level is a tad lower than minimum
I think Coolant is going to be an issue with me for this bike.Hell's Angel

. The loosened cap is surely an issue till the bike becomes common. THough I havnt experienced it till date.
But I have had experienced lots of other things like engaged gears, bike in a different stance than where I left it, Rear foot pegs open, RVMs manhandled
. Since I cant control these events, I dont care now.

Hmm,Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostThe loosened cap is surely an issue till the bike becomes common. THough I havnt experienced it till date.
I am afraid, this bike is never going to be common like -say a Pulsar 220 or a R15.............especially, after 200NS- at a lower price with wide seats, smoothness and being value for money by Indian standards......Duke would remain an enthusiast's bike.
So, I have to content by tightening the coolant cap as much as possible with my hand
.......a sad thing,at least there shud have been some screw enabled cover for this. This is just like a water bottle cap.
Any way, I love my bike...........very very much, to me it is like a Lamborghini -mean, knuckle in the face, unforgiving and loud in every sense- A TOUGH ONE.
Here are two pictures depicting its A CLASS APART appeal

Washed in heavy rains during my journey back from Work.

Angry streetfighter is not just a show........but a real go - this is what I call a REAL MEATY rear Section tyre.
My neighborhood is used to seeing a couple of Kinetic Hyosung Comet 250s......they often relate my bike to that V-twin 250cc
This one has a huge appeal and most people who had cast their eyes on this bike, from office goers to grocers has termed it as a real race bike

Wonderfully Executed!Originally posted by NiXTriX View PostYeah.. we did look into painting the entire frame but that would involve huge overheads. We spoke to the SVC guys and they were not too confident about dropping the motor and all the other stuff. We ourselves didn't want to take it up as we didn't have the service manual to put the bike back together.
Hence we just removed the body panels and used a lot of masking tape. Only the Trellis area is painted as of now. The entire frame will be done once we get the manual in hand.
EDIT: Even the tank would have to be removed to repaint the entire frame. Few more pics are attached.

Both Normal and extra premium is fine as i have filled both and none created any issues. Try to fill petrol from Company owned, company operated pumps and standard " Sada" petrol will Do well.

Someone in this thread only came up with indigenous solution to this problem, please search for it as i am unable to search.
Also what have you done with rear mud guard/tire cover?

Haa haa
, I laughed a lot reading your post, some how it tickled my funny bone a lot while having breakfast and everybody at the table was surprised looking at me. well the guy reacted like making a big discovery and saying EUREKA EUREKA, even i had some experiences like that and people coming up with weird questions and self devised ever more weird explanations of the tech like for instance the under engine cowl being a Mud Collector for Radiator !

wanted to punch him on his face ...NO as rightly pointed out its not lugging at all, you will feel the lugging as engine loosing its steam and rpm getting bit irregular etc.Originally posted by Evander_F View PostGuys, i would like to know the optimum speed at which i can ride the Duke in each gear, i was recently riding the bike @50-55kmph on 6th gear, is it bad? Good to know you and nice photo by the way, I have read your posts in other forum as well. Also i am surprised that you still have the Saree guard, i had to remove it just for one reason, i.e. to make it easy for me to clean alloys and swingarm, otherwise i think its best looking saree guard by a huge margin and does not distract one from overall lines of bike.
I am curious as in how come you completed so many kms so soon and did you do any mods in bike as well as about your name Uncle BHPian as you seems to be young enough
