bro you live in Navi Mumbai? You can totally touch the 138kmph on Palm Beach Road man!!! I was zipping on that road when they flashed my ECU and if it wasn't for those signals I could've definitely had a lot more fun than I was already having!!!Originally posted by Doga View Post
Thanks for the link bro!
BTW I hope you're shifting at the peak RPM i.e 8000RPM for the perfect boost between gears, redlining just makes it take longer to reach the Top Speed.Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Just curious as to what would have caused this to happen.I believe when the engine heats up the coolant absorbs the heat and causes the liquid coolant to expand and subsequently causing high pressure inside the closed cooling system. If the radiator fan is not able to effectively dissipate the heat out, the high pressure causes the coolant to shoot out of the excess coolant drain pipe.Or am I being stupidOriginally posted by vidy View PostSo i pulled over and switched of the engine, had a cool drink. When i comeback the coolant overflowing like someones vomiting and i quickly inserted the key to see the temp, surprise now no bars left in H-band.
Some more questions?
1.What was the coolant level before you went out on the trip ? At or close to minimum/between MAX and MIN or at or close to MAX ?
2.Was the radiator fins clogged with mud and dirt ?
3.Can you confirm if the radiator fan is working?
4.Do you have some kind of custom mesh radiator guard setup ?
5.How many KM clocked so far?
6.Have you ever topped up the coolant after you took delivery of the bike.
Thanks

@doga, surprisingly my bike reaches 139 at palmbeach widout any optimim gearshifts and all.I am pottering around at 60-80 nd when i TWO, bike builds up speed til 139 and then road ends.Im talking about a really long stretch at palmbeach highway, before nerul.Try crouching.Originally posted by Doga View PostSee this link Josh
PS : I have not been able to touch 138 a single time till now.
And where in Navi mumbai do you live? lets meet up sometime on ktm bombay group ride..
Hi josh, Im yogesh.Met u at Svc.Hows the bike behaving after ecu flash?Mayank had told that topend would be restricted at 134.is it true?Ot- Where did you get your helmet done and for how much?Originally posted by joshzma225 View PostI was zipping on that road when they flashed my ECU and if it wasn't for those signals I could've definitely had a lot more fun than I was already having!!!

Hi Yogesh! Its been behaving good!!! I haven't really tried to touch the top end but I'm sure the ECU flash wouldn't reduce the top end :-/ I will try it out tonite and post back here.Originally posted by ynike99 View PostHi josh, Im yogesh.Met u at Svc.Hows the bike behaving after ecu flash?Mayank had told that topend would be restricted at 134.is it true?Ot- Where did you get your helmet done and for how much?
thank you.
I got it done at Milan Subway in Santacruz West there is a shop there right at the end on the RHS of the road on the same side and just ahead of Milan Mall. The guy is called Javed and he helped me with the stickers but the design was all my own. He could probably help you with a design too. I am currently thinking of wrapping the entire helmet in Carbon Fibre Sticker but I'm gonna need a heat gun to get the sticker to wrap perfectly around the helmet...Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Be very careful about using a heat gun on a helmet. The EPS liner inside can be irrevocably damaged by exposure to too much heat. It will become hardened, and will not cushion your skull properly in a crash; indeed it may transmit the impact even more directly than no padding: if the helmet shell cannot deform due to the EPS being too hard, the force will go right through to your head unmitigated.Originally posted by joshzma225 View PostHi Yogesh! Overflow only started when i turned off the engine ,as fan cant work and it lacked the airflow to cool the engine. Even though heat source is deprived coolant temp rose suddenly causing thermal expansion and overflow. This is what i'm thinking. Just before turning off the engine i checked coolant level its at max and no coolant overflow during the run.Originally posted by Bplus View PostJust curious as to what would have caused this to happen.I believe when the engine heats up the coolant absorbs the heat and causes the liquid coolant to expand and subsequently causing high pressure inside the closed cooling system. If the radiator fan is not able to effectively dissipate the heat out, the high pressure causes the coolant to shoot out of the excess coolant drain pipe.Or am I being stupid
you are entirely true ,
Some more questions?
1.What was the coolant level before you went out on the trip ? At or close to minimum/between MAX and MIN or at or close to MAX ?
When engines cold, its at between MAX and MIN,little closer to MIN later it settled at MIN
2.Was the radiator fins clogged with mud and dirt ?
No,
3.Can you confirm if the radiator fan is working?
Yes,
4.Do you have some kind of custom mesh radiator guard setup ?
Yes,a steel mesh guard(DIY). this might caused the radiator cooling at a slower rate.
5.How many KM clocked so far?
4k ,in 2months
(i know the latter is redundant
)
6.Have you ever topped up the coolant after you took delivery of the bike.
No,
Thanks

Ur logic seems to be absolutely correct.Originally posted by vidy View PostOverflow only started when i turned off the engine ,as fan cant work and it lacked the airflow to cool the engine. When I started to learn driving Car, someone suggested me To never shut-off the engine when the Radiator Fan is On. Obviously he didn't explain the logic at that time, but now the logic seems to sink in.
Thanks for sharing ur experienceLast edited by Shibadip; 08-21-2012, 05:18 PM.sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

May be removing the custom radiator mesh guard or making the gap between the mesh a little bigger might have helped I guess. What do you think ?Originally posted by vidy View PostOverflow only started when i turned off the engine ,as fan cant work and it lacked the airflow to cool the engine.
