Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi guys,
Last night erything was good when I parked my D200. Today morning when I turned the key on, the display wont switch ON. The horn and the indicator works fine.
But dash board is not working and even the fuel pump is not getting switched on.
I checked the battery and even the fuses and it seems to be fine. Being a Sunday the SVC guys aren't much help even over a phone call.
Help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
What could possibly be the issue? The ride defines it..!!!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
UPDATE : After fiddling around, found that the dash turns on when I turn the handlebar to the left. When it is turned to the right, the power doesn't turn on Likely the issue is with the wires. Will update the progress.Originally posted by Kriz View PostHi guys,

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hello all.. Please help me out.
Mine is a 2016 Duke 200 with 300mm front disc and as this is the monsoon season, last week I pulled the front lever to brake rather harshly to prevent ramming a car which sudden braked all of a sudden. After this incident I notice a gradually increasing grinding/squeal front the disc brake area which increases as my speed increase. It gets more audible during right hand corners. Although, this doesn't cause decrease in vehicle speed as I inspected. The brake bite feel is also feeling weird and the sound fluctuates when i pull the braked level and when I checked by pumping the brakes. Can anybody identify the problem?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I'm getting a "tak tak" sound from near the front sprocket area whenever I push the bike forward or back.
The sound seems to be coming from behind the front sprocket. Opened the cover and checked for any debris near the sprocket, and it seems clear.
The sound comes around 9-10 times for 1/4th rotation of the tyre. Chain slackness is normal. ODO is 13500kms.

Readjust the chain for proper slack. This is a classic case of the chain being too tight at a particular point.Originally posted by philip.gunner View PostI'm getting a "tak tak" sound from near the front sprocket area whenever I push the bike forward or back.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Remove the pads, clean them (rub them on sandapaper) and also clean the caliper and rotor (disc) with soapy water/pressure wash.Originally posted by Alfinwilliam View PostHello all.. Please help me out.

When you apply the front brake, does the lever pulsate (like pushing back against your fingers) ?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi guys. Need suggestions from your experience on a niggle I seem to be facing with my 200 Duke 2015:
I got the bike serviced last month and the chain and sprocket were replaced. The next day I did a 200 Kms ride. By the time I reached home the chain was rattling like it did before the chain sprocket set was changed. I called up the SVC and they asked me to drop by and said they will tighten it.
They adjusted the chain slack saying it is a new chain and this is normal. Nonetheless the chain still rattled a bit in the test ride and I was again told a little bit of sound from the rattling chain is okay.
Now over the last few weeks the rattle has increased to almost like what it was before the chain sprocket change. Is this normal? My friend also has a duke and I have not heard his chain rattle like this.
Do I need to adjust slack regularly!!?
Thanks in advance.Last edited by Mustansir; 06-14-2017, 02:30 PM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Does that tak tak sound come when you are reversing the bike or just pushing the bike. Sounds like a loose chain slack. Get it checked at SVC recommended chain slack is 0.2 to 0.4 inches or 5 to 7 MMOriginally posted by philip.gunner View PostI'm getting a "tak tak" sound from near the front sprocket area whenever I push the bike forward or back.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I have a question. It's a pretty common one. It's about our rear tyres.. Everybody talks about Michelin. Mrf and pirelli.. Has anybody got continentals as their rear tyres? If yes then please reply. Iam planning to get those for mine. Costs just half 3.5k for the rear.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Does the contigo come in 150/60 size ? IIRC they only come in 140/70 (i.e. cbr/ninja size). And you can safely use a 140/70 on the duke, no issues.Originally posted by plexus View PostI have a question. It's a pretty common one. It's about our rear tyres.. Everybody talks about Michelin. some folks who use contigo on the cbr (it is also the stock tire on the cbr250s) say that it's not very grippy. i haven't ridden on this tire extensively, but can say that it is a hard compound and might not be particularly very good in the wet. the contigo and michelins take longer time to warm up before they start providing optimum grip.
On the other hand the mrf revz c or c1(new model) that comes stock on the duke is an excellent tire, soft, grippy and costs less (Rs.3800 approx). The only drawback of the mrf is that it is prone to punctures and small surface cuts/knicks due to it's soft compound/construction. I have personally shifted to the michelin and it is a slightly harder compound and provides a slightly better ride quality and almost puncture proof
(just one puncture recently after 14k km) whereas the mrf already had 4 punctures in 14k km and the last puncture was so huge that i had to discard the tire. The michelin though costs around Rs.5500, and would be a good option for tourers(never had single issue with the tire/punctures on the numerous long rides, whereas the mrf caused me some pain due to a couple of punctures)
My next tire change will be back to the mrf revz c1.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Puncture you say.. been on a road trip of 550 kms! 8 punctures on mrf revz c old series. Air pressure was 33 back and 28 front nitrogen. But same as on metzeler. None puncturesOriginally posted by s1d View PostDoes the contigo come in 150/60 size ? IIRC they only come in 140/70 (i.e. cbr/ninja size). And you can safely use a 140/70 on the duke, no issues.
