@s1d @B7ACKTHORN I cranked the bike today morning and there was no black smoke or any sort of smoke coming from the exhaust at all.I think it was the poor oil filling done by the executives last time hence the depletion of the the Engine oil to 400 ml out of 1.5 litres
Yes.i have been keeping a check on it and so far so good.
Are the modern engines so robust ,specially KTM ones that it can handle so much rough usage even without engine oil ?
Engines for the most part are reliable. As a matter of fact, they are designed to undergo the harshest of the environment. Oil is what keeps the engine components literally melting and welding to each other inside the engine. Be it any engine, when oil level is too low to none, a seizure or critical componentry failures are bound to happen. To keep it simple, you were lucky that your bike was diagnosed earlier with low oil, if you would have kept it running as is the case it is now, you would have had pretty catastrophic outcomes. You should probably thank your lucky stars for the early diagnosis.

Hehe absolutely.I must say I am lucky.
Also may be because of the proper run in done.i followed it till 5K KMS where I never blipped the throttle randomly and kept it like a baby.So far so good....
820 KMS on the Odo. First free service got done today.
Oil : Motul 7100 FS 1.5 L bottle. Cost Rs 1200
Oil Filter changed. Cost Rs 75
Chain clean and lube. Motul for both. Cost 150
Total bill : 1450 with taxes.
Had no problems with the bike in the run in. Worked the gearbox, rode like I usually do, smooth inputs and changes at 6-7.5K RPM. Took it easy for the first 250 for the tyres and brakes.
Hit Lavasa for a quick morning ride to build up some mileage before giving Gisele for her service. Not many photos, the site keeps posting them upside down, so will upload them once I sort out some good ones.
Also got the Pulsar AS 200 windscreen. Will be fitting it tomorrow. Updates on installation and the hassles to follow
I got my Duke 200 in January and got my first service done yesterday at around 1020 kms.
We are not allowed to cross 100 kms before the RTO registration. The process which usually takes about a week, took more than a month and hence had to get the first free service coupon punched way before the actual service.
Initially at 250 kms, i had changed the engine oil (with the 7100). I got it changed again yesterday.
I have been facing two issues with the bike (might be a character of the bike and not an issue).
1. The handlebar starts vibrating at around 6.5k RPM and keep on increasing steadily till about 7.5k RPM (it might be 6k to 7k also as it is not very easy to read the tachometer). Beyond 7.5k RPM it becomes vibration free. No vibration below 6.5k RPM as well. This happens in every gear. I have been extremely careful during the run-in period. Is this the case with all the bikes?
2. Suppose i am riding in 4th gear at around 37-39 kmph (not sure about the RPM), i get a pulse kind of vibration on the handlebar. The vibration comes and stays for less than a second only to return again after say two seconds. The vibrations disappear if i increase the RPM a bit or disengage the clutch.
This exact thing happens during engine braking. Has anybody experienced this? Can anybody try riding it in 4th gear at around 38 kmph constantly and confirm,

1. I guess this is normal then. I had a talk with the technician at my ASC, he has recommended me to get the Duke 390 end-weights installed. The end-weight costs around Rs 80 each and the grip around Rs 150 each.
2. You might be correct about lugging the engine, but it doesn't feel like i'm lugging it as it pulls cleanly from that speed.
Can others also please confirm the above phenomenons?
I have been riding a Duke 200 for 1 year now and now planning to upgrade to Duke 390. Is the fuel consumption significantly higher on the Duke 390? I commute 30 kms everyday through highway. And what all price increase is there going to be if i upgrade? I mean in service, parts, daily fuel consumption?
For my Duke 200; I have been using Osram Night Breaker Unlimited H4 (12V 60/55W) for past 3 years, and by far it has been the best halogen for night-time rides. Much more light throw and visibility than stock Osrams used in Dukes.
Lately, I was looking for quality LED for my Duke 200 and found one on AliExpress.
It took long 45 days from order to delivery.
Finally item arrived today (Apr 11,2017) and fitted on my Duke right away with a evening ride to test out its potential.
I will say, I made the right decision. Visibility is far better and light all white (6500k).
Only gripe is, light throw on Hi-beam is a bit less (but manageable) than Night Breakers as it is typical for LEDs to have less light throw than Halogens.
If anyone is curious about the LED Headlight; here are the details...
Please Note:
This LED headlight has built-in fan on its back for better heat dissipation; so stock rubber cap won't fit on headlight assembly.
You will need one spare headlight rubber cap (from discarded headlight assemblies of Dukes in Service Centers) with cuts for the LED headlight with its fan to fit and seal headlight and reflector water free.
You can keep your stock rubber cap intact and add this one with the LED.
In that way, you can always revert back to Halogen whenever you may like in future without damaging stock rubber cap.
I will post few freshly taken photos of the LED headlight at evening that I fitted on my Duke 200 today.
