The dealer said I could drop in within 45 days of the invoice, otherwise I'd lose my first free service coupon. But he wasn't very convincing.

Do I void the warranty? Or just lose one service, or all my free services?
Read the owners manual/service coupons. iirc the first service is due either 45 days/1000km whichever earlier and not 30 days.
Yes, they could void warranty if you miss even one service but they seldom do and you only end up losing that free service and they might use the second free service coupon.
So check your owners manual for the service interval days/km limit and proceed accordingly (set a reminder/to do task on your mobile lest you are forgetful like me).

The owners manual (now online) doesn't list out the service interval in days, only kilometres. Also the service coupons are now online?? (What the manager told me) So I'll get a reminder message from KTM themselves.

Gisele has been taxed, and since the PCMC RTO is closed today, I should have my plates by Monday evening (fingers crossed). Should be able to easily nip the 900 km mark by 8th April, which IMO is fine for the first service.

      Cheers.

Did you get any booklet with the bike ? I remember they 'shortened' the manual (since 2015) but it did have service coupons.
Mine was purchased in Oct 2014 (Sept manufactured) & I also used to get a sms (which started sometime in 2015 and stopped after a few months). I have a full manual with the service coupons and 1st service was 45 days or 1000km whichever earlier
You can write to [email protected] for a clarification on the service intervals just to be on the safe side.

P.S. I just saw the service intervals on the ktm website and yes they don't seem to mention any 'days' interval (but says 7500km or at-least once a year).

If the bike is under warranty stick to the recommended intervals.. and thereafter I think it is safe to get it serviced every 6 months/7500km (rather than the 120days). That would save one some money. I am skeptical about the 1yr interval (As per the online recommendation), especially w.r.t the oil filter, I am simply not confident that it can hold up that long (it might though, but i wouldn't risk keeping it that long)

And btw, the rear michelin just had it's first puncture (noticed it last night) after about 14k km. A 2 inch nail.. but the tire did not go flat and I have no idea when it occurred. Got it fixed by the usual method.

No booklets mate. The showroom and service folks clearly tell all owners to download the manual off the Play Store or from some special website they've setup for the 2017 Duke range. No service coupons in sight anywhere. I enquired at the showroom and service centre and they said the SMS was enough.
Weird, given even some of the "Big Bike" manufacturers like Kawasaki or Ducati give you a service booklet with coupons.

Planning on running the Michelin for another 2K? Or switching out?

surprised that they aren't giving a hard copy. Especially because from what I've heard in the past is that not all these svcs are computerized. Not sure what has changed now. As I said earlier I've received an SMS twice and thereafter nothing. I though had the manual with service coupons. As for the michelins, there is enough meat left on the tire to last atleast another 5k km atleast. These don't seem to wear out as fast as the mrfs.

Need help with a problem I'm facing at the Kasturba road, Bangalore service centre.
Gave my bike, 2013 model, 15000km done, with absolutely no problems whatsoever so far, for service yesterday.
When I went to pick it up, noticed that the guy was struggling to start the bike after replacing the accelerator cable. Then a couple of other guys joined to find out the problem. They managed to start it but it would go off on releasing after a high throttle. Finally they tell me that my bike has a weak throttle body n needs to be replaced.
I strongly believe that they've screwed up cos such problems can't show up out of the blue.

Can any of you pls give me your inputs on this. Would be very helpful. Thanks.

                Weak throttle body! lol.
Ask them to first connect their diagnostic tool and check for any error codes.
If there are no errors, then remove the throttle body and inspect (check if the throttle cable is installed correctly and compare with another d200). the throttle body has both the tps and idle control stepper motor on it, either one of these maybe the culprit in your case. Or maybe even the fuel pump. They ideally should be able to pressure test the fuel pump (check the workshop manual for the procedure)
Also please shoot an email to [email protected] and [email protected] explaining the situation as you mentioned here.
And remember to never 'leave' your bike for service.. hang around and get it done.

I suppose during the cable replacement they might have fiddled with the cable pulley which is connected to the TPS which in turn is connected to the TB butterfly, perhaps the sensor settings might have gone for a toss. There is no such thing was weak throttle body, and it's quite ridiculous of them to issue a statement like this. What I'd recommend is to make them get it rectified, and tell them the bike wasn't having such issue prior to the cable replacement or prior to coming to the showroom either. if you're not having a satisfactory answer or the job isn't taken up, escalate the issue to the above ids as posted by fellow bhpian. Keep us posted.

                  Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I haven't. Did they check the 'cone-set' and maybe adjust it (i.e. steering stem nut) ?
It's difficult to pin point the source of the noise without actually hearing/riding the bike. Take it to another svc, maybe Auto Service and see what they have to say about it.

Hi, my brothers D200 is facing some battery related issue. Yesterday the battery low indicator came up, And today battery died on him. So he had it replaced.
But even after installing new battery low battery indicator still came up.
I am suspecting battery isnt being charged properly.
should i go to a A.S.S or go see a mechanic outside.
since i have time and my brother doesnt i would have to loan my ride to him and get his bike fixed.
                          please advise.
and also if you know any good mechanic in pune please let me know.

P.S. Bike is out of warranty

Most likely his stator coil is gone. D200 has notorious record of stator coil issues. I'm on third coil right now.

Probably a stator coil gone bad. Get it checked and fixed at the svc. Should cost you around Rs.1500 incl labor.
