Re: KTM 200 Duke
Bro, are you kidding ? Redline at 71kmph in 5th!! You could easily go upto 80kmph in 5th and iirc it hits the rev limiter at close to 100 kmph in 5th. kris989 try revmatching when you downshift for a smoother shift. if the issue persists (let someone else ride your bike and check, sometimes it might just be rider error) then you might need to get the gear lever adjusted & the shift shaft checked/replaced.Originally posted by kundalus View PostMy Duke redlines at 71 on 5th gear. So i guess you are changing to 5th at higher speed, try around 60-65 and see if it jerks. As far as 0 gear is concerned, it can be a false gear issue.

Yes, that's how the d200 has been since the time I purchased it from the previous owner. 5th gears starts redlining as soon as I reach 71.Originally posted by s1d View PostBro, are you kidding ? Re: KTM 200 Duke
Yes, you can set to as much as you want. It does limit your revving once you hit the limit.Originally posted by iantec View PostYou can easily set the 'Rev limitter' which is the indicator to as high as you want. Doesn't really limit your engine just reminds you to shift.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
That's not the 'Rev Limiter', that's just the Shift Light. It just tells you when to upshift, and cannot 'limit' the Revving in any manner! And it can be set at whatever RPM the owner likes!Originally posted by iantec View PostYou can easily set the 'Rev limitter' which is the indicator to as high as you want. Re: KTM 200 Duke
It's quite difficult to predicate the issue that you are facing with your bike. The bike jerks as in, the moment you shift the bike from 6th to 5th with the clutch pulled on or RPM itself is erratic? Also try rev matching, means smoother gearshifts. Irrespective of how one shifts the motorcycle isn't supposed to jerk when shifting especially at 70 KMPH. Does your bike jerk or the throttle erratic when are upshifting during spirited riding?Originally posted by kris989 View PostHello guys. I have this issue of the bike jerking while I shift from 6 to 5th maybe on speeds above 70. The bike jerks really bad. I once noticed the display showing the gear indication as nil as in its just a dash where the gear number should be indicated while it jerked. I had it right from the day I purchased it. It gets very annoying while you downshift and overtake or when you have some fun in the highways. I had told them the issue at first service but it still remains. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou
In reality it's nothing but the shift light, it is there to assist the rider to tell him at which RPM he or she prefers to shift. There are two settings, RPM 1 and RPM 2. The 1 just lights up and tells you when to shift and the 2nd flashes the red light to let you, this is over the limit.Originally posted by iantec View PostYou can easily set the 'Rev limitter' which is the indicator to as high as you want. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Hence the quote. I was responding to his description. And yes that's the shift light which I think is what he is referring to unless otherwise.Originally posted by The Commuter Dude View PostThat's not the 'Rev Limiter', that's just the Shift Light. I changed my 1st shift light to 7.5k and touched it without any issue (earlier it was 6.5k). Thanks for this one. Pardon me for being naive.Originally posted by iantec View PostHence the quote. Re: KTM 200 Duke
It's the other way around , at RPM 1 (i.e. between rpm 1 and rpm 2) it blinks/flashes and once it touches RPM 2 it stays lit up solidOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThere are two settings, RPM 1 and RPM 2. I keep mine at 7000 & 9500 rpm respectively.
Been three years and 30k km to this day.. just the regular maintenance and am a happy chap. It is due for a 'major' service soon (the last service was a year ago, and i have covered only 5500km the past year) and I am hoping to get the following checked/fixed:
0. Coolant I had replaced last year with motul motocool.. no issues or top ups required so far.
1. Fork oil replacement
2. Brake fluid drain and replacement
3. Rear brake pads replacement(still on stock, has around 1.2mm pad material left and might last a couple more 1000km)
4. Chain+sprocket (still running on stock, its the front sprocket that's worn i.e. pointy teeth.. I am pretty sure the P220 front sprocket is a direct fit and iirc costs Rs.150). I will get hold of the front sprocket from P220 and see if that works out.. if it does, am set for at least another year/10000km before replacing the entire kit.
5. Throttle body cleaning (wondering if i should get it done.. no issues so far wrt idling/pickup/fe , easily get 35 kmpl in the city and close to 40 on highway if kept under 95kmph... drops to 33 if constantly over 105kmph)
6. The usual filters replacement and a new spark plug (current one has seen 15k km, just a preventive maintenance)
7. Will be trying the Shell Advance Ultra 15w50 (picked it up on Amazon for around 700rs). It has so far run on only motul 7100 right from day 1. Just experimenting with a change in brand.
8. Front tire replacement
well over due. Going in for the stock mrf's.
And maybe get the new tank cover from the 2017 model.. I like that sticker job better
