The new Duke 200 2017 Problems !!

Its been 4 months that i bought new duke 200 2017 version, and seriously i'm tired of this bike
- Last month i noticed some strange metallic clicking sound from left side of the engine. I took it to the service centre and they repaired it by changing engine head and valves. Now the engine sound is very different.. its so noisyy, i'm posting a link to the video to show you guys how its heard now. Is it normal ?
Pls have look. (Its shot only for the sound in dark so there will be only that sound)
- And another problem i noticed is sometimes in running when i applied clutch, the engine gets off ! I don't know what is the reason. Help me

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys, my rear mono shock got leaked yesterday night. All of a sudden the pillion had a really smooth and swift experience. Could not make it the reason first, but after seeing in day light it was visible that the oil spillage was everywhere. This might have happened due to a bumpy ride in these fag end monsoon.
Coming back to the monoshock, is it repairable,? I remember reading it somewhere it is not. And if not then should I go for factory fitted or can I opt for Pulsar one of it is better than Duke (not sure it would really be). Plus the chain slashing is just unbearable after this leak. Please advice.

Wise decision is to replace the rear monoshock. The rear monoshock is a weak link in the Duke series and they start weeping when you least expect and worse case, can even bottom out during the wrong time. There have been instances where people have installed the NS 200 shocks if my memory serves me right (quote from memory). Also check your chain slack, clean the front sprocket. The reason it's unbearable is that since the swingarm movement is more than normal due to the failed shock, but even the condition of the chain sprocket condition comes into play. Get these checked.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I'm due for service in about 50kms, will get it replaced then ASAP. Even I thought of similar reason for chain slashing. Do you think Pulsar monoshock would be more reliable than KTM factory fitted ones? I'm curious to know which one would serve better.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostWise decision is to replace the rear monoshock. Also my other problem with KTM SVC is that staff is good but is either overworked or incapable to sort issues. For eg, after front fork oil seal replacement, they did not align the handle properly and also did slight damage to forks each time from outside.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I personally haven't seen any Duke 200 in person with this setup. Though I remember reading this somewhere online of this jugaad being done. When it comes to reliability, yes the Pulsar shocks are far more reliable than the one on the 200, yes. The leak incidents reported by them is rare as opposed to the frequency on the Duke 200. regarding SVC job workmanship, it's always a good idea to stay there and keep a vigilant eye when carrying out procedures that require good skillset.Originally posted by kundalus View PostI'm due for service in about 50kms, will get it replaced then ASAP. Thanks for your inputs, so finally decided to go with KTM suspension. Here are a few updates on rates that were quoted.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostI personally haven't seen any Duke 200 in person with this setup. AMC: 1800+ taxes
Rear suspension: 4500+ labour + taxes
Oil + filters: 2200+ taxes within AMC
Total damage estimated for 10k including AMC renewal on higher side.
Has anyone recently changed chain sprocket? Want to know cost.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Though it's technically possible to repair the monoshock, ktm doesn't sell the seal kit alone (Atleast here in India). Remember it's the seal that's failed (similar to the front fork), so yeh if you can get hold of just the seals it should be repairable. iirc the workshop manual shows how to disassemble the monoOriginally posted by kundalus View PostGuys, my rear mono shock got leaked yesterday night. Your option here would be to replace it. Go with the stock one.. replace it with the one from the post aug 2014 models (i.e. the one with the plastic cover over the monoshock). I wouldn't advice going with another bikes monoshock (unless it's been tried and tested). The monoshock doesn't usually fail often, i've seen just two cases in the umpteen no. of bikes at the svc, but hey shit happens at times
If you frequently carry a pillion, then I'd suggest you adjust the preload to setting no. 6 or 7 (the stock is 3)

Thanks for this. I got it told to stock. In insisted on the one you said, which has a cover from inside the monoshock but KTM changed the design once again. This one has a plastic covering from bottom. Also my monoshock seal busted because of my own mistake. I used the bike in rain without monoshock cover and I do not have rear tyre hugger as well. So I guess the seals broke due to dust and no other reason.

Aah yes, the 2017 ones have the cover on the outside. How much did the monoshock cost ?Originally posted by kundalus View PostThanks for this. I got it told to stock. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hello guys. I have this issue of the bike jerking while I shift from 6 to 5th maybe on speeds above 70. The bike jerks really bad. I once noticed the display showing the gear indication as nil as in its just a dash where the gear number should be indicated while it jerked. I had it right from the day I purchased it. It gets very annoying while you downshift and overtake or when you have some fun in the highways. I had told them the issue at first service but it still remains. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou

Re: KTM 200 Duke
My Duke redlines at 71 on 5th gear. So i guess you are changing to 5th at higher speed, try around 60-65 and see if it jerks. As far as 0 gear is concerned, it can be a false gear issue.Originally posted by kris989 View PostHello guys.
