The front forks are pretty tough ones. Unless there is heavy hit on them, they don’t get bent.

Just try to replace handle and check. If everything is fine why bother.
After few days, if you see oil leak from front forks, you might have a bend. But that’s a rare occurrence.

Dropped my zma few times. Never there was a bend. Zma forks aren’t as tough as those of duke’s.
Will replace the handlebar then. There is no oil leak so I'm guessing there is no bend. If it had been even slightly bent, how exactly would it affect the ride? Would it be significant?
The problem is I didn't just drop the bike. The other bike came and hit me basically on the front fender so I was just scared it had damaged something or the other.
Thank you for the information! It was of great help. Still love my bike like I did 3 years back. Maybe more definitely more.

      Hello, fellow Duke Owners!
I'm looking forward buying Duke 200 (2017). Before that, I want to know more about the issues I would face in future.

Most of my rides will be in Mumbai (HOT), so will it be a problem considering the overheating of the engine?

Also, I read somewhere that Duke 200's seat is not a very comfortable one for long rides. I'll be riding it for somewhere around 350 km/day and twice a month. Will this lead to any problem?

Before purchasing, I would like to know about the approximate yearly cost of maintenance. So, can some fellow rider please give the breakup of the approximate cost I'll be spending in next 3 years?

      TIA!
      Happy Riding!

I've been using the Duke in Mumbai since about two years now. Riding about 100kms per day on an avg on weekdays. Of which 50% is on highway and rest in traffic(LP to Sion, Andheri East to gtkpr). The bike does heat but I could easily bear it in my trousers at least. The seats are hard but I heard 2017 models have slightly better seats unlike previous ones.

I've done 270-300kms at one stretch on my Duke stock seats without any discomfort. Obviously they are not as sot as after market seats for RE but the factory setup just works fine for me. I added a sponge cover recently which does the job for pillion and rider both. Costs about Rs 180-200.

Cost for first three years depends on your usage & style too. Oil and servicing will be basic cost. At 25-30k km you might have to change chain sprocket (Rs. 3200), rear tyre (Rs 3800), fork seal(Rs 1200 per side). I guess this would be your major expense apart from regular servicing. And servicing intervals are 7.5k km unlike old models. Also note parts and service has become costly after GST.

I recently met a 2017ktm owner at SVC and he said his mileage is about 35+km/l in city and 42+ on highways. Which I feel is pretty good for a 200cc bike.

Mileage anything above 30 in city is fine with me, 35 would be amazing.
Have you ridden D250? How is the feel different from D200 '17?

I had purchased a Duke 200 in June and currently did 4k kms. As of now I'm quite happy with the bike. I commute daily about 50 odd kms. It's fun. I've did long stretches about 200 kms and I haven't had any discomfort. They have made the seats a bit more comfy on the new ones. Pillion ride on the other hand isn't comfortable at all. Especially for long rides. I get around 40km/l on daily commutes as of now. Highway a bit more. Only issue I have faced till now is the chain running out of lube every 500 kms and the noise that comes with it. Other than that I'm quite happy. It's a very peppy engine for a 200cc you can rip it on highways as well as have a smooth ride when needed. They have sorted out the heating issue and it hasn't bothered me at all. Ride safely. Tc

You sure it's a 20 PIN Molex connector, Sid? AFAIK, the molex were always 14 pins. Anyways, doesn't matter, just wanted to confirm if there were any wiring changes from the old to the new models w.r.t to the connector pins.

                So this happened:

I have no idea how this happened. I just noticed a few days ago that when I turned the handlebar to the left, it turned all the way till its movement was blocked by the fuel tank.
My biggest worry is that the repeated contact between the handlebar and the top of the tank will ruin the paint. (A matte black custom paint job I got for the bike)

I looked around online, but so far I couldn't find any info. Could anyone help me out?

                1. Is it required to get the whole t-stem clamp replaced? If yes, how much will it cost (and is there anything else I should know)?
                2. If I don't have to get it replaced, is there any way to prevent the handlebar from hitting the fuel tank each time I park the bike? I just got a second coating done, and it's depressing to watch it being scraped off slowly

                Thanks!
How and where do you park your bike comes to my mind. Though casting deformities can't be ruled out, the part seems be cleanly shaved off, could be miscreants on the work or a possible plan to loot. But nonetheless, it's advisable to replace it to prevent the bar from bumping with the tank. You can also try "chor bazaar" in your area for the stem, so you can source it cheaply.

I'm looking for a paddock stand for my duke 200 which lifts the swingarms directly (i.e, without bobbins). I saw a guy selling them here but that was some years ago. I cant afford the overpriced ones available which costs 4k+.
Check out GA Engineering, Facebook page. Gaurav Patrekar is the guy.

Recently my 200 started leaking out engine oil from the front sprocket area, to such an extent that it drained out completely. I had to put the bike on a truck and offload it at the service center. Turns out that my output shaft was broken (we checked the oil seals, they were fine). Currently in Goa, the part is out of stock and would like to know if anyone help me out to get it. Kindly PM me if you can help me out.

                Cheers!
Split output shaft? Probably the first time I am hearing the counter shaft being split. Could you provide some more information as to how it happened, during a ride or any symptoms during the ride. A broken counter shaft meaning the bike would be hard to move. If you can, do post a picture of the faulty part.

                Cheers!

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Did anyone get bar end weights for their bike? Do they really help in reducing possible vibrations?

I've got Yamaha Fz weights on my bike, which I had to install in order to install the Handguards! They do decrease the vibrations on the handlebar, but it's not that much of a difference!

Any suggestions on Metzeler Sportec M5 vs Michelin Pilot Street vs pirelli diablo rosso ii for rear. All cost around 5.5k in amazon not sure which to buy.
Even for front all cost around 3.5k.
I went through some suggesting as people tell go for Michelin Pilot Street as grip and durability is good.

Should i stick stock MRF tyres?

PDRII or Metz if you are looking for an all out grip only rubber, which is less durable and less puncture prone tire for your bike. Michelin Pilot Street if you want best of both worlds.

Hello, People! Quick Question: Does your bike's Fuel Pump prime (the 3-4 second sound we hear from under the fuel tank everytime the bike is switched on) when you do not switch the key to 'Off position' and just switch the bike off using the Kill Switch, and then flick it back on using the switch?

The fuel pump primes EACH AND EVERY TIME WHEN YOU SWITCH ON AND OFF YOUR IGNITION via ignition key. and only ONCE with the Ignition on, irrespective of the KS position With the ignition on you can turn off the kill switch on and off, and only your display will go on and off, but not the pump. But, fuel pump will prime every time you switch off and turn off your ignition via the keyset.

                                Cheers!
