My low beam doesn't come up sometimes. This happens intermittently. The parking light is not working too. The High beam however does not have a problem. What could be the reason? I have been riding in heavy rains. Water damaging the electricals?
Also there is this smell which emanates from the front tank area, the recess between the handlebar and the tank. It comes when the engine is started. Not of anything burning though. Anyone experienced this? The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

thx mate .. obviously cant redline a duke in bangalore city traffic .. power will be used wisely ..Originally posted by Enthusiastic View PostCongrats Rohan on the purchase of the thrilling mighty DUKE
TC of your bike. Dont redline it always even thought its a sportsbike
that info was awesome .. i have one doubt .. you have mentioned that the load capacity of the rear tyre is 66kgs ,, does it mean that i should not be letting anybody weighing more to ride pillion ?? ,, despite the fact that the rear seat is for slim people ..Originally posted by Bplus View PostCongratulations.Check page 343.
@maverik1 -- a few of my friends have bought dukes after june and none of them are facing any problem .. they only say that the gear shift lever is tiny ..

Most likely its water evaporating from the engine as it heats up. All of my faired bikes did this in wet weather. It's kind of an odd smell, difficult to describe.Originally posted by Doga View PostMy low beam doesn't come up sometimes. This happens intermittently. The parking light is not working too. I too think so. I could not see anything wrong with the cables. The smell was not coming from the radiator/coolant channeling pipes for sure. But the low beam problem has to be solved. Gotta visit the SVC todayOriginally posted by The Mountain View PostMost likely its water evaporating from the engine as it heats up. All of my faired bikes did this in wet weather. Gear shifts for a drag, not exactly for racing
Where did you set your RPM1 and RPM2 ,
duke generates 25hp@10000rpm and 19.2Nm@8000rpm ,
Right now i set RPM1 at 8000rpm and RPM2 at 10000rpm , so that my shifts can be timed at around 9000rpm, i.e between max bhp and max torque just to be on the faster side.
so do we have to shift gears at 10000rpm or at 8000rpm in a drag ?

Regarding your headlight issue, I would bet it's the switchgear. I recall reading an early article that metaphorically raised an eyebrow at KTM's decision to source the switchgear from the Pulsar line rather than use their own stuff. Pulsar switchgear looks kind of cheap and low-quality to me, so my first thought would be to have that switch checked out before starting to dig into the cabling or the headlight unit itself.Originally posted by Doga View PostI too think so. And, to narrow that smell down a bit more, on my bikes, the smell was always from water that had collected around the base of the spark plug, and was boiling out. On further reflection, the smell it had could best be described as "mineral-y".ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time!

Seeing the spares cost, I hope the Duke must be the cheapest to maintain compared to its 150-250CC rivals. Hope the engine components are costly, coz there should be something to justify the 1.3+lac price tagOriginally posted by Bplus View Post

I dont think my 4 kms ride would add any value to the enormous information present in the thread. If you want a comparison of Duke & NS, I dont think ownership thread is appropriate for that discussion. Though you guys already have had an overdose of it. If you want something specific, do let me know.
Though I have added something in your thread!Hero Honda Karizma

Surely have taken a overdose of it. I personally am quite clear where both of them stands, and do respect both of them.
