By the way, I installed Bikers' Bar-End ( originaly made for CBR150 )
Theoretically, It absorbs vibration so, making the handle bar less-vibe
I'll post the zoomed in photos..
    Dude congrats..
But a side profile picture would be better.

      • My Duke's engine seems stiff whenever I take it out in the morning..
I keep the engine on for about 30 seconds to warm it up but still it is the same and the acceleration is stuttering and not uniform for quite a while..

Since the bike gets very dirty in the rain.. does the dirt affect the chain lubrication???

Should the chian be lubed after every dirty encounter in the street???

I cant seem to place the reason for the stiffness in the engine

          1)Handlebar
          2)Right rearview mirror
          3)Right crashguard
          4)Both handlegrips
          5)nuts/bolts neede for the above
          6)parking/pilot lamp
          Labour cost was rs 169.

What got my goat was not the cost but the time I had to spend trying to get the handlebar alignment right after they had installed the new bar. It was done by the junior mech first and I had to get the head mech redo it all over again to get it right. It's still not perfect. An ever so slight misalignment can be seen while riding but nothing to be overly perturbed about.
The parking light had to be changed. The low beam issue is still there and the svc suggested I apply some WD50 on the switchgears in the rains.
what is wd50? is it some kind of gel? do svc guys keep it with them or have to look in local hardware shops to get it.?

WD40 is a Lubricant and anti corrosion agent. It comes as a spray which enables easy application. It is used extensively in the automotive and Aviation industries.

            Find more info here

WD-40 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is available in some local hardware shops as well.

If your engine is sputtering and is not smooth, clean your air filter element. Most likely this will sort out the issue. Keep the chain clean and well lubed at all times or you will have to change them much earlier than needed/recommended.

              • how often do you recommend I lube the chain...

SVC guys asked me to lube it every 500 kms but i find the chain gritty within 250 kms of lubing..

My mechanic ask me to always use spray instead of oil for chain. and i do it in 500-600kms. oilling is not that good i guess, use spray, there are plenty available.ranging from 140-350Rs

It depends on the season and the type of riding.
If its a rainy season, or u are running your bike more on the messy/muddy areas, the chain will attract more dirt than mormal, and thereby will require frequent cleaning.

For the above situation, I wud rather suggest a visual check, than 500Km method. If anytime you find that the chain looks messy, then clean it and lube it.
Just remember to clean the chain while its warm, and leave the bike for at-least 2-3 hrs after lubing

Right said, in other words, Simply inspect your chain every weekend to know the amount of lube/dust present on it, you can clean/lube accordingly.

                      • ownership report after 250kms

i got my duke on monday ( afternoon ) and i have just kept on riding it ..
                        some observations by me :-
                        pros -
-- acceleration is ballistic even though i havent breached 6000rpm
                        -- brakes are amazing ..
-- tyres are superb .. never lost grip even after a couple of sudden stops from 70kmph.
-- exhaust note is superb .. people recognize duke by its exhaust note from quite a far distance by not even looking at it ..
-- console is always showing 44,46,51 kmpl after every ride .. once it showed 28kmpl during traffic jam ..
-- the console was displaying low fuel warning when i took the delivery but it was also showing 44kms to empty ( it kept on increasing as i rode ).. i rode it for 25kms to shell fuel station and filled up for 500rs .. i have totally clocked 250kms and still it displays 2 bars above the E mark ..i think the city mileage is somewhere in the range of 40-45 kmpl ..
-- note that i havent taken any extra care to extract good mileage ..
-- engine heat always remained 2 bars below H mark .. radiator fan never came on .. it is pretty cool here in bangalore ..
-- i just love the riding position .. feels like it is tailor made for me ..
-- headlight is powerful and beam spread is very good..
-- gear shifts are super smooth and it is very easy to find neutral from 1st..
-- i got feedback from all my male and female friends that the rear seat is way better than that of my previous bike ( fz16 )...they told that it is scary to sit behind coz they get to feel a lot of power while accelerating .. pillion riders must always hold the rider or else they will fall backwards while accelerating..
-- i got rid of the front number plate and saree guard .. now it looks better..
-- it is an attention grabber on the streets .. everybody give it a stare ...

                        cons :-
-- horn is very bad for this bike ..
-- loose cables under the console make some noise when i ride on a road hump.. i shall get it rectified during first service .. it is not irritating ...i think they need to fasten it up with some tape ..
-- this bike should not be ridden below 2000rpm ...
-- this bike cant be ridden slowly ..
-- the rear suspension needs to be stiffer for me .. i will get it set for a harder position ..
-- parking this bike is a problem .. people gather around it and try to take pics by standing next to it .. cant leave it unattended ..
-- i cleaned the bike twice and it took me around 2 hours to clean it both the times .. most of its parts were cleaned with tooth brush...requires a lot of patience..
-- mirrors are almost useless as the wide handle bar makes our arm protrude outwards and then 60% of the mirror area only shows our arms and shoulders..

i might have missed a few things ... any doubts and questions by anyone here will be answered by me ...feel free to ask ..

Congrats for the bike. So, you finally chose a little premium over 200 NS. Hope you don't start any flame.
Enjoy it. Keep sufficient fuel level to have longer life of the pump & filter. It's an Fi bike, so never ever think of taking this to a local mechanic for tuning or anything related to engine, fuel system. Enjoy the bike.

Congratulations Rohan for your new possession.

Any reason to why it should not be ridden below 2000 rpm? Does it stall like some have mentioned in earlier posts?

So how do you manage stop N go traffic / jams. I am sure you must have encountered situation like this in Bangalore since you bought it.

Edit : Oh yes more pics will be welcome
