  • Does anyone have any idea how much does the side stand costs.. I feel that the stand is a bit loose.

You think I can get it replaced under warranty?

      some observations by me :-
      pros -
-- acceleration is ballistic even though i havent breached 6000rpm
      -- brakes are amazing ..
-- tyres are superb .. never lost grip even after a couple of sudden stops from 70kmph.
-- exhaust note is superb .. people recognize duke by its exhaust note from quite a far distance by not even looking at it ..
-- console is always showing 44,46,51 kmpl after every ride .. once it showed 28kmpl during traffic jam ..
-- the console was displaying low fuel warning when i took the delivery but it was also showing 44kms to empty ( it kept on increasing as i rode ).. i rode it for 25kms to shell fuel station and filled up for 500rs .. i have totally clocked 250kms and still it displays 2 bars above the E mark ..i think the city mileage is somewhere in the range of 40-45 kmpl ..
-- note that i havent taken any extra care to extract good mileage ..
-- engine heat always remained 2 bars below H mark .. radiator fan never came on .. it is pretty cool here in bangalore ..
-- i just love the riding position .. feels like it is tailor made for me ..
-- headlight is powerful and beam spread is very good..
-- gear shifts are super smooth and it is very easy to find neutral from 1st..
-- i got feedback from all my male and female friends that the rear seat is way better than that of my previous bike ( fz16 )...they told that it is scary to sit behind coz they get to feel a lot of power while accelerating .. pillion riders must always hold the rider or else they will fall backwards while accelerating..
-- i got rid of the front number plate and saree guard .. now it looks better..
-- it is an attention grabber on the streets .. everybody give it a stare ...

      cons :-
-- horn is very bad for this bike ..
-- loose cables under the console make some noise when i ride on a road hump.. i shall get it rectified during first service .. it is not irritating ...i think they need to fasten it up with some tape ..
-- this bike should not be ridden below 2000rpm ...
-- this bike cant be ridden slowly ..
-- the rear suspension needs to be stiffer for me .. i will get it set for a harder position ..
-- parking this bike is a problem .. people gather around it and try to take pics by standing next to it .. cant leave it unattended ..
-- i cleaned the bike twice and it took me around 2 hours to clean it both the times .. most of its parts were cleaned with tooth brush...requires a lot of patience..
-- mirrors are almost useless as the wide handle bar makes our arm protrude outwards and then 60% of the mirror area only shows our arms and shoulders..

i might have missed a few things ... any doubts and questions by anyone here will be answered by me ...feel free to ask ..
Nice detailed stuff dude. Useful one!

        • @AnupamOnWheels -- i meant that the bike jerks when the rpm goes below 2000rpm ..it is all normal when we pull the clutch .. we are not supposed to ride it below 2000rpm right.. in all the reviews they have told that the fueling is snatchy below 2000rpm .. i think that is the characteristic of duke..
i have ridden on wet roads here and never has the bike skid during braking .. i use both brakes everytime..
mileage by tankfull method is well over 40kmpl for me .. i think the mileage would be better if i rode it faster.. this includes ride in all sorts of bangalore city traffic conditions...
the engine gets heated up in crawling speed traffic , but cools down very quickly when i turn off the engine at red signals .. i am putting back the mirrors now ..
i dont know if those helmets were ls2 crowns or not , but they were damn good with all sorts of designs .. the shopkeeper told me that ls2 helmet would look very big on me ,,so he was suggesting other brands ..we get different sizes in helmets right ?...i asked him the price of many ls2 helmets and he told that all design ones are in range of 2.5k here and plain ones would cost 2.2k .. he told me to come back on saturday as they are getting special design ls2 helmets for duke ( black-orange ) ..

          • Riding in rain in Mumbai is very hazardous it seems. Had a minor collision with a autorickshaw at the Hiranandani Gardens signal. The signal turned green and I rode ahead. Suddenly this auto comes out of nowhere disregarding the red light with impunity. I slammed the brakes hard keeping in mind that the front could lock. I managed to slow down to a safe enough speed. But the rear too skid and I could not avoid the collision.
The first thing I checked wa sthe handlebar as it was barely 2 days old.
No damage to the bike this time. Thank God.
So guys do keep an eye on errant drivers/riders at signals, even when the light is green. Enough idiots and arseholes on the roads to warrant that I feel

I hate the Autos (atleast here in Kolkata) More than the Aunty-jis and stray dogs, moving recklessly on road..They absolutely dont give a damn to the Traffic rules, with their Union back and stuffs. They just assume its their Universal Right to change into lane ANYTIME, and to stop anywhere to pick up passengers.

Riding in Mumbai in any season is very hazardous bro.. All these Rickshaw and Taxi walah jerks do lot of rash driving.

We can be safe on our part but what to do when people around don't have a sense of driving/riding their vehicles.

One advice to all the fellow riders: Even if the signals are green, keep an eye other idiots (don't want to spoil the forum with bad language so only using idiots) drivers/riders.

Don't try to go too fast even in mild traffic conditions. The brakes are good but sometimes you might be too fast for the brakes to handle.

                • Sudden de-acceleration of Duke is due to high compression ratio (Engine Braking) rather than it being Fi.

it is mainly because of short gearing ..

Bhai, surely Kolkata has far less number of autos plying on the roads than Mumbai. I have been to Kolkata a few times and I know this for a fact.On any given time if you scan a particular stretch of road here you'll find Auto's dominate all other vehicles. But that in itself is not irritating. What is, is the fact that you'll find often times 2-3 autos being drive/ridden in such a way that they cover the entire road and allow almost no space for a quick overtake. And lets not talk about their tendecies of sudden turns/lane changes without indicating before, stops at the middle of the road

Since have not been to Mumbai, so don't know it(the bold lines) for certain...
but the last line is exactly same in Kol as well. Just disgusting..

                        • Got real sick and tired of all the dirt and sand accumulating in the radiator fins of my bike. Its such a pain removing all the sand particles and dirt with a pin and paintbrush after every other wet weather ride. So got a DIY done to solve the problem. I haven't done a ride in the rains with the mod yet. Will do soon and share about the improvement.

                          Things used:
One Yamaha RX series Front Mudflap
One small tube of Fevi Kwik

Sorry about the picture quality, Using a busted camera.

On a bike as weak as the Duke 200, a 150 is really overkill, and was put on for looks. A 140 will be just fine, and the bike will probably turn more easily. My old GSXR1100 had a 160 rear as stock, and it had way more power to deal with than the little Duke.

nicely done!! does KTM have a power part for the same?

I wonder if sticking the mud flap would really last. some sort of fastner will be needed at high speeds..
