  • HI Dukers...
Many of u might know me as I have made quite a few post in this thread. Although I myself own a 200NS, but I do follow this thread, coz I believe, the issue and solutions will be more or less common in both the DUke and NS. But till now I have never ridden a Duke.

On 18th evening, I got a chance to ride a Duke for a short run. Although after the ride I came to know that the Duke was on steroids (and I don't know what mods were done on that bike).
But truth be told, I really don't have any word to properly describe my feeling/pleasure that the ride gave me. It was AAACCCCCEELLLLEEERRRAAATTTTIIIIIOOOOOONNNNNNN at the best!!!!!!!. I can't tell the exact time, But i am Quite sure I reached 100kmph within 6 or 7 seconds. ANd when you are riding at such pace, nothing else matters... The brain and the muscle reflexes processes everything. you just have to Enjoy the Acceleration!!!!!!!!!
My helmets off to that bike.. May God keeps the soul alive who owns the bike!!!

Hehehehe. Nice little joyride you had on the duke. That's what gives this bike it's character. Insanity. The urgency.
But I want to ride the NS man, to see how refined it and stately it is. The reviews and blogs like it's smooth and refined running motor over the Duke's.

Btw the insane nature of the Duke actually has it's downside too. It's strung too much in favour of acceleration. The newer maps didn't help either. You sometimes feel that a better top end would not be bad!!!
Besides it also ensures that the less than adequate chain wears out faster. My chain has got links of uneven lengths, meaning some links have been stretched more than others, ensuring chain tightening(which in itself is a frustratingly frequent exercise ) is a tricky process.

The usual rants aside, a fantastic motorcycle to own. And I am already having wet dreams of riding a 390.
PS : someone mentioned smoking NInjas with the 390 having 200 sticker kit. I say why not a 390 sticker kit for the 200 . The Ninjas and CBRs would not dare wink for a race just seeing the 390 sticker kit.
This possibility would surely piss the future 390 owners

        + u to that
Well, Every single time I got to test ride the Duke, I stepped down with a Big Smile, kinda like a Grin, on my face... & the response I got every time after that was, " No need to say a word, Ur face says it all..."

                    • Starting problem.

                      HAI,
I'M ALSO A DUKE OWNER. I ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM . I TRIED TO INSPECT IT AND FOUND A SERIOUS ISSUE. ONEDAY MY BIKE WAS ALSO NOT STARTING . WAS CRANKING BUT NOT STARTING. THE HT COIL WHICH IS UNDER THA TANK VERY CLOSE TO THE SPARK FLUG WAS OVER HEATING VERY HIGH AND WAS ALSO SMOKING VIGOUROSLY.. CONTACTED THE KTM SERVICE. THEY SEND 2 MECHANICS AFTER 1 DAY . THEY REPLACED THE HT COIL. ENGINE STARTED INSTANTLY. THEM THEY SAID TO ME THAT THIS IS A FIRST IN TYPE COMPLAINT ON A DUKE SO THEY NEED TO STUDY THE FAULT AND SO THEY WANT TO TAKE THE BIKE TO THE SVC. I DISLIKED AFTER THEN I AGREED. SO THEY WERE READY TO GO AND AS THEY STARYED MY BIKE ...AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM ..THEY AGAIN DISMANTELED THE BIKE AND CHECKED SOME THING AND SURRENDERED... THEY ASKED ME TO BRING THE BIKE TO SVC IN A TRUCK.. WHAT TO SAY MAN..... THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE BIKE IN A MAXIMO TO THE SVC 60KM AWAY (COST ME 1500/-). THE SVC PPL ASSURED ME TO GIVE THE BIKE AFTR 2 DAYS...OK FINE...
I CALLED 2 DAYS AFTER AND GOT REPLY WORK STILL IN PROGRESS ,CALL NXT DAY, NXT DAY ALSO SAME RPLY AND ASSURED TO GIVE NXT DAY. I THOUGHT WOULD BE A SERIOUS PRBLM AND WARNED THEM NOT TO OPEN THE ENGINE W/O MY CONCENT. ANY WAY THE NXT DAY I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE SVC TO SEE WATS GOING ON.. AS I GOT THERE I SAW MY BIKE WAS RIPPED AS IF IN A REGULAR SERVICE.I ENQUIRED ABOUT THE FAULT .THEY REPLIED THAT THE STALLING PROBLEM WAS ONLY A MINUTE EARTH FAULT. SAID A COMMEN EARTH FOR THE WIRING WAS LOOSLEY CONNECTED AND THAT CAUSED THE COIL TO BE FEAD WITH DC CURRENT. ANY WAY THEY RETUREND THE BIKE AFTER 3 HOURS. NO OTHER ISSUED ONLY A MINUTE SCRATCH IN TANK STICKER. I DIDNT ASKED AS I'M SURE THEY WILL NOT ADMIT.
THEY BILLED ME FOR A GASKET AND ACCLERATOR CABLE APPROX 240/- SAYING THAT ITS NOT INCLUDED IN WARRANTY. ANY WAY I WASNT INA MOOD FOR A FIGHT AND AND GAVE UP. I JUST ESCAPED FROM THERE EARLY.. THINKS THE NOTE HELPS SOMEONE.. THANKS

Neat programming on the LED display. Does the Duke already have the gear sensor in place? Normal bikes just have a neutral wire from the gearbox. How is it in the Duke?

                        • Hi all,

I am looking forward to ownership opinion from guys who have rode the bike more than 10-12k now. before making a decision, I wish if some of the experienced owners will help me out.

                          Thanks,

                          • Hey guys,

Paddock stand is available at Honda Service centers. Just ordered one today for my Duke.
Its not as good as the KTM service center but for Rs1200 its goiod enough for small service jobs at home.
