KIIRUS's remapping is not soo effective as they only remove the rev limiter and spending 12k for that removal of rev limiter is not worth the money

      • Hi there guys this is my first post on this website.

So far the experience with the duke 200 has been pretty disappointing.
i have completed around 1900 km on the ODO and every time i have a pillion i get a chaak-chaak sound from the chain at certain rpms and happens only on deceleration. It also sounds loudest on the 3rd gear, while dropping speed as u let go of the throttle.
Also another test performed by me with a pillion, downhill on a slope at the same speed and gear the can be heard even louder and more distinct.
since i am light in weight i don't usually hear the sound in any gear, its only when the pillion is present.
this sound is coming from the front sprocket i presume and gets irritating on long rides.

its jus the chain hitting the slider. If search the this thread, you'll find DIY solutions. Our member @hunkofgals has posted before, do search for it.

This was news to me when i had posted this same query on another forum and FB. I was told that acutally its not the chain hitting the slider but it is the red reflector at the back which hits the tyre hugger when you have a pillion and even without pillion if the pothole are big.
I had tightened my bike's chain and still i used to get this noise to which i got the above answer, and truly the tail tidy is very flexible and it vibrates a lot over potholes making the reflector hit the hugger.

              • @janesh: If You see there is a huge gap between the rear tyre/hugger and the rear fender. I don't think the suspension will travel that long distance.

@dynamo brother: tighten the chain to the specification and the noise should disappear.

@hunkofgals: I think You need to replace the rubber slider as i can see that its worn out completely and it has become too thin.(the portion circled by white) and also some metal part is peeping out from the slider, the chain will hit that everytime You ride and can cause the chain to wear.

                • speaking of chains..i need to clean the front sprocket area..how do i go about with this..its loaded with old lube and what-not. Do i get wd/40 and spray it clean then ride a bit and re-lube with chain lube? the junk is really sticky and black and i thought to myself that wd/40 should break it up and clean it..i literally put my finger in as much as i could and pulled out gunk but theres still alot there..im sure of it..

and what about the kiiru's ECU remap?
                    More info on that Please
                    Thanks you

It costs 10k now, it was 12k when it launched. And in all honesty, it's not as overpriced as you guys make it sound. I mean of course, it doesn't cost them anything to remap the ECU but you have to judge the value as opposed to what you get in return for your money. You get 3-4 extra bhp of peak power, 2 Nm extra peak torque (a 10-20% boost overall). You get a higher top speed without sacrificing the accelaration. It DOES affect the power band for smoother power delivery, lowers engine idle speed, and according to kiiru's returns 10% better fuel economy as well. I was going to get it soon but then Race Dynamics came out with their ECU box as well, so i'll check that out and see the VFM proposition there as well. It might just force kiiru's to lower the price of their remap as well. Let's see.

Try not to use WD 40 as it is a rust remover and could affect the rubber O rings on the chain. try the chain cleaner spray of Motul or 3M - Liberal use of it does break down the muck and drops down. Wait for sometime and wipe it clean with clean cotton waste. Be careful about your fingers though.

Diesel is kinda Ok Ok. But I wouldn't go for it either, as, remember this is O-ring chain. Has rubber and Petrol/Diesel/Kerosene etc are known to have damaging effects on rubber. The most affordable way to do it - Take it to the service center every 500 kms and get it done - they may charge you Rs. 40 for that.

                            • I dont think itll cause damage using diesel, extensive exposure can damage if diesel used, that is also the same case with wd-40(which is an excellent cleaner), so just using diesel to clean it and then washing it off with water and cleaning with a rag would make the chain clean, too clean in fact, then just use the chain lube. Its done.
Else you can always go for the used engine oil / gear oil. But that's a messy affair.

                              Cheers
