Hi Sarcastic,Originally posted by Sarcastic View PostHi Katoom,
Congrats for the bike. Just wanted to know that did you inquire about the road assistance program your showroom offered? If yes, can you please share the details.
Thanks.
Sorry for the late reply. Yeah I asked the showroom people about the program. Its called Orange Assist. Cuurently based in Pune only. There are two levels, Basic for 400/- and advanced for 700/-. The difference between both includes the range of service ( 50kms vs 100kms) and some other extra assistances provided by the showroom. I guess you will have to confirm with the dealer at your end if there is such a program available.
On an unrelated note, I take my bike to the office everyday, and since my office's parking is an open one, there is a 2 wheeler parking area where all the bikes are parked by all the employees. I was sitting at my desk yesterday and my office boy came and told me that he had sat on my bike and that he liked the bike and everything. At first I scolded him for sitting on my bike without my permission and asked him what all he did on it. He said that he just sat on it and felt the stance. I told him off and got back to work. When I was leaving office, I found my bike and started it up. I found that the gear indicator was in neutral and this raised my suspicion that this guy had done some mischief. This is because I never leave my bike in neutral out of habit and it was in neutral when I started it. I immediately felt that the gear shifter was loose, It was harder for me to slot the gears in, as there was too much play between 1st and 2nd gear. I'm extremely pissed at that guy now and am just waiting for him to come to office so that I can give him a piece of my mind. Now, is there any way I can fix this on my own? Or do I have to take it to the service center?? Please clarify.
Regards

. People here not only fiddle with your ride but also cause some serious damage if provoked.
I too am facing some issues with the gear shifter. The main problem is shifting from 3rd to 4th and most of the times it doesnt happen on the first attempt. Also just yesterday the gear shifted automatically from neutral to second on a signal. This gave a huge jerk and i felt someone crashed into the rear. Was an embaressing moment bcz i went crazy
looking here and there before realising what had actually happened. 1st servicing is just 140kms (3 days away) so will get the issue rectified.

Being offered a KTM T shirt and Cap, if I buy the bike before 31th march.
OTR is 1.46 Lacs. My 3.3 years old RTR is being valued at 38K. Though I know, I can sell it for atleast 40K out side(Considering the mint condition, it is in), but I dont have time for it now. I will bug them one last time,if they agree to increase a bit or give something extra.. Else, I will get it next month.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Today I completed 400kms on my Duke. My experience so far has been very good. I have been taking to office daily on NICE road( 30 + 30 kms). Have been maintaining below 5.5K rpm 60-65 kmph. Moment I enter city try engine starts getting heated and in this summer heat it becomes unbearable. Hoping to take for a short ride this weekend.
I would like to know if any oil change is advisable at this point or should I continue till 1st service(1000 kms). Had topped up coolant once when the level was touching min line.
Here is the best milage I got so far on my Duke.........

Hi Calculus,Originally posted by Calculus View Post@Suresh: Isn't the first service recommended after 500kms ?? It is recommended that you change your oil at 500kms. And by the way how come your coolant level dropped so low within 500kms ?? Did you check for any leakages??
I did check for leakage ....but no signs/marks. Even I am wondering how my service is set for 1000 kms/45 days. I did check the manual also on the display it shows more 600kms for service.

The showroom manager told me that it was 1000 kms or 45 days whichever occurred first. Haven't heard about this 500 km service anywhere!Originally posted by Suresh Upadya View PostHi Calculus,

Any body replaced the plastic scoops in your bike, any idea how much does it cost? Thanks
Cheers!

First servicing for all dukes is set at 1000kms/45days. Don't worry about the coolant , even i had to refill 2days back. Ive clocked 840kms on my mine. Also spoke to the service center about the coolant level, was told it wasnt an issue as the bike heats up a lot during the run in period.

Service intervals
Not happy with the long service intervals. As the bike clocks up more and more kms after servicing the gear shifts and the engine running i personally feel gets detoriated. Third service is up at mid April. Duke would be completing 9-9.5k kms by then. After that Ill be changing bike's service intervals from 5000kms to 3500-4000max. At least engine oil change for sure.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Hello guys!!! Finally a member of duke family
Sorry for the long post
Been thinking of writing this since the day i bought my bike.
Have been following this thread since nov 12 when i sold my 5yr old P200 to buy a new bike. since than i was without a bike but as i was not at home it was not much of a problem. so my search for new worthy upgrade was on. Three contenders were on the list bull500, cbr 250, D200. 3 bikes from 3 different segments but in my budget. Was never a fan of Bullet, but got confused between the other two option, but finally decided on D200
without even taking a test ride(based on my 3 months research)
Brought her home on 14th march. buying experience was good. Called the showroom at 12 and asked him whether he will be able to give me the bike on same day, he said only if I do cash payment, i said ok. I went to the showroom at 3pm, met the guy, checked the bike. All the three colors were available on display but i just wanted the true color of KTM, so selected the orange bike, checked her, payed the money. Was out of the showroom in less than 2 hrs with my new bike, was really happy
.
Home was around 14 km away, initial ride was good, bike was easy to ride, seats bit hard, engine got quite hot when got stuck in jam
but overall ride experience was good.
Till now have done 500+ km, a couple of 100 km rides, happy with her performance overall.
Few things which I didnt like
--> HORN- i dont know why they have given such a tiny horn
initially i thought it was ok, but as now i am riding her more and more i realise that its not enough,
people dont even notice you
.
-->SEATS - Really small for a guy like me
specially the pillion seat is really small. Me and my frnd both 90+ sat together on the bike, it was like pillion was hugging
the rider
. good if the pillion is girl
but with the guys
. Also the seats are really hard, feels like sitting on a plank
, P200 seats were hard but
these are really really hard
.
-->6 gears -
I know, i konw it is not a bad thing and i am getting used to it, but coming from a bike with 5 gears where we constantly needed to change gears, to
a bike with 6 gears and which can run even at 30 in 6th i tend to forget which gear i am running in
will take some time to adjust.
-->Rear disc -
Again the same problem as above, have to get adjusted
, there were 2 instances of rear Tyre skidding, may be i applied the brake too hard or
because the tyre was new or may be both. this problem is almost solved now
-->Vibration and noise - i dont know weather this is normal with a new D200 or not but the vibrations are very noticeable at almost any speed( but the degree of vib
varies) & the exhaust sound is also very noticeable even at low speeds. Both these thing were not present on P200 so i am little worried.
-->Leg guard - its very small, i dont know will it be enough in case of a fall??? what do you guys think?
-->indicators & mirrors - i wish they had given the auto cancel type indicator, as i am very used to of this feature, many times i forget to switch of the indicator after
taking the turn
. Mirrors i feel are very small but atleast they donot vibrate like P200
-->Other - Engine kill switch switches of the display also
which is like using the key, even on my p200 it used to just switch of the engine not everything.
When engine is running the electric start switch is still active, when pressed it will try to start the engine which is not good for the starter mechanism, on
P200 this switch was inactive when engine was running. Although small issues but could have been taken care of as bajaj already have the solution for its
bikes.
The Gear shifting lever and the rear brake levers are really small(i mean the width not the distance from the foot peg), my right feet tend to slip many
times when i try to apply the rear brake have to be conscious about this all the time
.
-->Attractive - YES its a problem, every one keep asking me the price, the company( which they donot know about), foreign ki hai
??? Plus its really difficult to park
her in open, even outside my house
because of the safety
Things I like : well everything else other than the above points
A little comparo of the two(P200 & D200) may help some one like me to decide there next upgrade
power and torque - D200 better than p200, in city changing gear not much required and is lot quicker.
looks - depends, both look awesome, but as you are upgrading, its a worthy upgrade.
brakes - much better than p200
handling - very good
Seats - not comfortable and smaller than P200
now the pics
