The service guy told in case of emergency where u cannot find coolant you can top it up with distilled water which will be available in any battery shop or some good pertol pumps.

    cheers

    • Ask your service guy from where you bought about which coolant was filled when vehicle was delivered same should be used as you cannot mix 2 different brands. Normally SVC use premixed....but concentrate is also recommended in the manual as second option.

      • I just completed 2500 kms on mine. Whenever i ride it in heavy traffic in 2nd and 3rd gears for long time which is unavoidable in chennai, my horn sounds very very feeble and it becomes normal once it gets some air and i start riding in top gears for some time. Is it a common problem ?? Guess some wiring fault is there.. Has anyone faced similar issues and know what could be the problem and get it fixed w/o going to the SVC ?? Thanks in advance.

        • @katoom, guess you had a good ride. You even got to experience village terrain!

On the other note, I was having the problem of Khat khat sound from somewhere near front of the bike which occured only sometimes, mostly after some hard riding. Threads led me to believe it was Chain sound and it probably was as this sound changed according to speed of bike. No sound when standing still. The solution I saw was gluing the rubber thing up on the swingarm. DIdn't want to do that, so went to SVC and told them about it. The guy took a test ride and there was sound but very low. Wasn't the susual khat khat khat sound. More like khrrr khrr :P

Anyways, they took out front sprocket, cleaned it up, greased it, did something at back too (probably losen the chain) and now the sound is gone. At least for now. Hope it remains this way.

Thanks Edd It was a very good ride

Coming to the khat khat sound, I've seen that its a common problem among a lot of duke owners. I believe its been discussed on this forum as well as other forums online as well. do a google and i'm sure u may get some relevant info. Mine's relatively new though, haven't experienced the same yet (Touch wood). Will cross that bridge when it comes

The 'khat-kaht' sound abates a bit after chain tightening. Only lessens, but doesn't vanish. It's more pronounced when you ride on bumpy roads.
Also, another reason behind it can be the rubber chain slider getting old and worn out by the constant chain movement over time. The sound is then pronounced because of the chain hitting the metal screw at the top of the swingarm exposed to chain movement because of the worn slider(at the top). This adds to the sound of the chain hitting the swingarm bottom.
You'll notice a sea change after changing the chain slider. Happened to me once and got it changed. They did not have stock but arranged for a used one at that time, which needs replacement again I guess as the sound has reappeared in my bike(chain is new).

PS : Saw a bit of pimped duke parked at the office parking for the first time here in Powai (Ventura). Swingarm stickered orange and the usual WP stuck on the forks. Anyone from here ?

              • Thanks Doga

Just had a small query among the guys from Pune around here. Does anyone know where I can get those embossed (Printed) number plates for my bike? I currently have the stickered ones and they do not look good at all.

                Regards

I do see around 2 dukes parked near DMart sometimes. Is Ventura the one opposite Starbucks?

                      • Anyone here using some sort of polish/product for the black plastic parts? The tail section of my bike has faded in color a lot. The black plastics look grey-ish now. Granted, my bike sees a lot of sunlight (no covered parking for 2 wheelers at my office), so i don't blame the plastic quality for it, but i'd still like to get some recommendations on what product (polish or otherwise) can i use to keep the black plastics black.

                          Hi Katoom,

Congrats for the bike. Just wanted to know that did you inquire about the road assistance program your showroom offered? If yes, can you please share the details.

                          Thanks.

I use the motomax dashboard polish on the black plastic parts, including the switchgear and the fender eliminator after every wash. Gives it a nice black shine

I did. Its called orange cover. They charge around 700bucks for a radius of 20-30kms (i.e. within the city and a few nearby places). The min time taken by them to reach u in any kind of emergency would be 30-45mins. Problems can be as small as being out of fuel or mobile balance:sly: to engine failures. However they charge separately for fuel and stuff. This is all told to me by the showroom manager, anyone who has opted for it could give u a better idea.

Thank you. It would have been only useful for me if it covered a radius of 60-80 Km
