What u can do is wrap that side with a similar shaded matte finished sticker of some sort. Won't cost more than a 100 bucks.

Damn it my iPhone sent it again.!!!

+1 for that bro. I'll try that.
Do you have any idea about fitting 390 handlebars on our 200? What's the difference bdw?

Sorry no idea about the handlebars. Shouldn't be too different except than some provision for the bar end weights. I haven't ridden the 390 yet so can't be sure.

            Hi,
Am a newbie to xbhp forum.
I have a few queries about duke 200. And since this is the ownership thread am hoping to get 1st hand information. Am contemplating on booking cbr 250r or duke 200 / 390. I have posted a query on what bike section too. I would like to know about the real world mileage of duke 200 both in city and highway riding conditions. And what about the heating issues if any? Are dukes maintenance heavy??

Typical old racer - you wobble when you walk, not when you ride

              Hi,

I want to customize the wheel color on my duke 200. I want both the rims to be painted in white & orange.. Can you guys please suggest a good shop in Pune for that.. After googling I found 'Paint Theory' in Kondwa. But its too far for me. Do we have other options in Pune.

Hi all, my bike is from second lot in March 2013. I have around 24000km odo reading. In jan 2014 I had replaced my tank cover as it had scrape marks due to skidding during a crash then. Now I noticed a crack near my petrol cap on Orange tak cover. It can be seen clearly in the photo attached below.

On reporting this to svc, they said that it comes under physical damage. According to me the crack came in normal usage of bike. But svc says that it might be due to a crash or something heavy being kept on tank. I have always kept my bike in good condition and have never abused it.

Secondly svc guy also says that the spare parts do not have any warranty period.
So even if I replace the tank on my cost, there is no guarantee that crack won't come again in six months. I would have to keep paying for the tasks every 6 months.

There should be some period of warranty on spare parts. I have raised the issue with ktm service engineer, but he too says the same thing that spare parts do not have any warranty period.

                What else can I do?

That crack is clearly due to extra tightening of the petrol cap bolts. Must be the fault of the person who fitted it.

He said if it was overtightning, the fault should have occurred pretty soon and not after 8 months.

Paint Theory Guy is your best bet in Pune IMO... I had a similar idea and after a lot of research reached this conclusion. Their work is really professional and they charge around 2500 bucks for painting the rims.

                      • Need help with my new KTM Duke 200

                        Query Moved/Approved

Hey xBHPians. This is my first thread and the Duke is my first bike!

I'm a beginner rider and I've learnt a lot about riding only in the past few days. When I bought the Duke I was trying to get max FE by riding it at low rpm but higher gears. My friend pointed out that I may be damaging the engine so stopped doing that. In the last 36 hours I've ridden the bike till 70kph around 7000 rpm in the 5th gear and I find that I was being dumb earlier. My first question is will the lugging have done any permanent damage?

Secondly, yesterday I again pushed the bike to the 7k rpm limit and it got pretty hot after the run. I had to make a stop for like 5 minutes for some reason and then I drove at normal speeds but the traffic was heavy and i was driving at a crawl when suddenly I heard a loud sound like 'rrrrrrrrrrr' sort of like a large bee. I stopped the engine, allowed it to cool for some time and then when I restarted it, everything ran fine. The guy at the KTM svc says it may be a pebble or something which got into the radiator fan.

Thirdly, today I was riding in 2nd gear looking for a parking spot when I heard a squeeking sound coming from the bike. It went away after a while. Also sometimes when I start the bike and let go of the clutch too soon, the engine stops and then I cant restart in first gear.

Today I went to the SVC, the guy said the chain is loose and he lubricated it since it seemed dry. He rode the bike and there seemed to be no problem to him. I just wanted to ask if theres damage and should I be worrying?

                        Thanks!

                        • No. There's absolutely nothing to worry. Everything is normal and maybe you should focus on enjoying the ride rather than being too cautious. Chill.

Absolutely yes. Riding with a pillion is not an issue during run in. Just make sure you don't rev hard, or cross 4-5k RPM and try to take breaks every 45min of continuos riding...
                              Ride safe!
                              Cheers

                                completed 305kms.
Thank you! Rode with him for 40 minutes.
I could feel the engine straining :-( [compared to single ride]
Maintained gear shifting at 4.5-5.5rpm and revved really slow.

also while in the range of 2-3rpm while revving slowly i feel something like something is holding me back (like i have applied the brakes slightly) which dissapears after bit more revving.
I dont know whether this is normal(engine brake) or my brakes are slightly tighter braking all the time(But the rear stop light does not glow) - am a bit worried.
