There are many, the ones that I know are:Originally posted by Chandu!! View Postcan any1 highlight on the sensors
hw many sensors duke have n wat they do!
Speed sensor: Keeps a track of your speed, in the front wheel.
Ignition pickup sensor: Makes sure the air fuel mixture is ignited at the right time
Gear Position sensor: Tells the ECU what gear the bike is in.
Throttle position sensor: Tells the ECU how much throttle has been opened by you.
Side stand sensor: Warns that the side stand is down, if you try to drive off with the stand down, the engine cuts off.
Lambda sensors: These are air content monitors, are used to monitor the quality of air (intake and exhaust), Duke has an open loop system so I think the exhaust sensor is absent.
Pressure sensors: To monitor the oil pressure and fuel pump pressure.
Temperature sensor: Monitors engine temperature.
Fuel level Sensor: Gives you an indication of how much fuel is present in the tank.
Brake sensors/switch: Activates the brake lights when you use the brakes.Last edited by spiralbrain; 03-31-2012, 12:37 PM.

Finally got the call from Indiranagar KTM, went yesterday and made the payment, will get the bike within Wednesday.
And since this is my first bike, went today to JC Road , Lalbagh to do some "safety shopping
", as soon as i said my bike was Duke, the helmet shop guy gave me a cool LS2 Crown helmet with a tinge of Orange Graphics on it. He said, "Nothing suits better than this one for your Duke Sir", was amazed.
Bought a pair of DSG Gloves, but one thing i forgot was the Bike Cover .
Any suggestions on where to get decent quality covers in Bangalore for Duke?
And if anyone has already bought , what size suits the best?

It happens when the bike jumps too often, have you checked the radiator pipe cap? it was loose in my case.Originally posted by Rajathslr View PostCoolant bleeding in all Dukes today...after some serious Off-Roading..
Serious concern because the spill was too much....have to bring it to notice of the service ppl..
Found this today:
A clever way of making the frame Orange!

Took my duke to Nandi Hills for a proper shakedown. Man... this machine can devour corners. We did the hill climb twice. The tyres aren't properly run in yet, hence a slight lack of grip was noticeable at high lean angles.
The mileage figure on the meter hovered consistently between 50-55 for the whole trip.. only dropping to 30s during hill climb and cornering.
Saw a bunch of Dukes there... i counted 5 in total, 4 in one group. I am sure some were XBHPians...

Buddy even i bought my LS2 crown today here at Chopra's delhi. No doubt that this is the best match for Duke(In looks) and I even feel that in some time if you ask for this helmet the store owner might ask you that do you own a DukeOriginally posted by harshag26 View PostFinally got the call from Indiranagar KTM, went yesterday and made the payment, will get the bike within Wednesday.

best gearshift ratios
guys i heard duke is short geared, howz it in comparision to fz16. i have fz16 and i want to go for duke, but i prefer a bike which does not need quick gear shifts. for fz16, the most fuel efficient gear shift is 2nd at 20kmph, 3rd at 30kmph, 4th at 40-45kmph and 5th at 50-55kmph. this happens at 4500-5000rpm. how about ktm, can the speed be streached more than these limits without affecting the fuel consumption much, i test drove ktm it was driving fine at 3rd gear at 20kmph with pillion
, but first test drive can be misleading. kindly share your experience..

:s:s:s :d:d:d
Have been riding my duke for around a week... First day ride was awesome... Filled the tank to full - fuel leaks!!! Done some 100 k on the day 1. Coolant leak spotted but fixed without doing anything.
Day 2 did a 30 k ride ... On both the days raced the bike well n hard but below 7.5-8k rpm mark. Usually in the band 5-7.5 k.
Day3,4 rest
, from day5 till date (day 11) using ma duke for office commuting...
On day6 the fuel low message was indicated at around just 225k

so filled 2.5L normal shell for 200 bucks... And now at around 310k fuel indicator shows low - so inspite of the unreliable avg mileage indicator I would say 90k/2.5L is the possible mileage given...
Filled again for 300 bucks yesterday. After that done around 60 kms... but the indicator dropped to 2 bars now... (above the low indicator level)... Guess it would make another 40 - 50 kms before dropping to the bunk again...
(i could say avg - 34 - 36 kpl, leaving out the first full tank fill resulting in leak)
For the ride, I maintain the ride at around 5-7.5k, at the max 8k rpm band(when puzzled in the useless chennai traffic signals) with an approx shift speed as below:
1 gear - upto 20k@ 5k rpm
2nd gear - upto 35k @5k
3rd - 45- 50 @ 5-6k
4th - 55- 75 @ 6-7.5 k
5th - 60 - 85 @ 6-7.5k
6th - 65 - 105 @ 6-8k max
First 2 days faced problem in finding neutral but now set, a gentle tap from 2nd gear lands on N but yet not possible from gear 1.
The engine feels really stressed in the first 2 gears... If tried to maintain below 5k rpm. However in heavy traffic, 2&3 gears would suffice.
Sometimes it's really hard to even cruise at 80 kph due to heavy wind blast... Need some solution.
The worst problem would be... False gear shifts may occur if not well concentrated upon shifting anywhere between 3-5 gears... I mean u would close the throttle shift and release throttle to find u r in the same gear - this is not the bikes fault though, needs some getting used to...
Due to the riding posture... It's giving less confidence to bend in curves however the grips n suspension are excellent...
The ride is grunty but yet feels at times there are some loose parts making noise... Could not pin point the spots!!! And also when cruising at high speeds... In case of a distant signal - red when u close throttle and engage clutch when u downshift a noise is heard something similar to spinning a washer on a bolt... Can't explain it... But sounds techno

And now... 370kms done... Avg kpl shown 33 :/
Comments feedback suggestion advice n discussion are welcome ... Duke nuke'em
