Two days of off so wanted to do some long rides. On the highway the engine doesn't get heated much.Originally posted by sivigshankar View Post
Thats what I meant. I had an assumption that whenever the rpm crosses 7500, the light comes on but when riding at sixth gear the light doesnt come on.Originally posted by Shubz View Post

Oh BTW, there is NO rev limiter whatsoever. I have tested it myself when I hit 120 once during run in :P.

He was mentioning about the blinking of light that happens at 5k rpm is not happening in 6th gear when goes past 5k rpm.Originally posted by shreeda View PostMate, if you haven't crossed 90Kmph, you haven't crossed 7.5k(IIRC, bike does 90 at a little more than 7k). Regular Cleaning / Wiping?
Guys,
How are you cleaning / wiping your bike regularly? Any specific cloth or solvent?
Its just been two days and lot of dirt on the radiator, swing arm(accounted for the dirty roads that i drive
) and dust on the other parts.

The mileage mentioned above is console indicated or calculated by some other method(eg. tank-full to tank-full) ?Originally posted by Rajathslr View PostI would not go for Indian Oil products unless I dont have other option, Till now i have been feeding my Duke only Shell Super(gettin 48kmpl) and I would say BPs Speed is another good option...

Wow Helmets Off bro, I always watched you as a city commuter but after you bought the Duke great signs from youOriginally posted by Ri$hi View PostDid 294 kms on my duke today, 522 on the odo. The rev limiter doesn't come on when riding in 6 th gear. I was maintaining an average speed of 50-70, just once touched 90. I kept varying speeds and took plenty of butt breaks. I used gears to deaccelerate. Used brakes only when necessary. In the midst of the ride, low fuel warning showed up so had to fill 3 lts of regular petrol. Its hard to find premium fuel on most of the highways. Once reached the destination did a tank full of speed. The guy in the station wasted almost 10 ml of fuel while filling the tank, he literally got blasted by me. This is not the first time this is happening, the day I took the delivery a lady in the petrol bunk did the same. When asked they blame the tank to have a very small opening. Did anyone else face the same problem?
After returning from the ride, went to the SVC to get the chain lubed. The guy there, his name was shankar he is the one of the service personnel who were trained to handle dukes, cleaned the chain with diesel, adjusted the chain and lubed it. I usually have a habit of offering tips, when I did the same, he refused to accept. Met two dukers there, both of them had come to service the chain. When enquired they said that they haven't heard of Xbhp. I have noticed some sort of decolorization on the silencer, this was ever since the delivery. While taking delivery I should have had a close look and should have reported. But failed to do so, I noticed that only after reaching home. Now when I brought this up to them, the answer I got was "its normal, its due to the heat". They had me look at a couple of bikes, most of them had that, but mine look more obvious. Let me attach a pic of that.

Once reaching home took the hugger and saree-guard off myself. The tools provided were helpful.
I had sent a mail to [email protected] regarding the tyre pressure. The tyre pressure value on the swing arm doesn't match with the values given on the manual. Its a typo on the manual. The reply which I got from Mr Neeraj Sharma is as follows
You guys can find the same mentioned on the FB as well.
ok Am glad I got a fellow Tourer,Join with me will Explore more places
Regarding the Silencer it is common as a p220 owner I know about this very well even Duke manufactured from Bajaj so answers will be pretty same
Regarding the Mail Part, Buddy common stop sending mail to them Poor fellows
Sorry for Being OTOriginally posted by sivigshankar View PostRishi, that's some pretty quick mile crunching.. Remember, I had more miles on the bike than you a couple of days back. Where did you clock these kms? Which HWY ? What time are you taking these long drives. I did a 15 kms inside city which took 50 mins... at the same time during the night time ( 1am - 4am ) I am able to clock about 50kms inside an hour.
I am a bit reluctant to take the bike on the highway due to the engine heat. Apart from that the bike is handling great.
My comments in Bold
Sivigshankar:- If you wanna do some long stretch take Ecr till pondy or you can do Porur Bypass-Chengalpattu till pondy, both are fantastic stretch and have their own beauty. Or ping me anytime will do some quick fast ride till Mahabs
Monsoon ride to the God's own country

the decolourization certainly doesn't look normal.
Are you sure it is not due to particles thrown by the front tire? Does the leg guard have paint peeling off similarly (since it falls between the tyre and the exhaust pipe)?
Due to heat, the pipe would turn a shade of brown/purple. Which, if you notice, your pipe already has. It is no longer the shiny silver chrome colour as it came from the showroom.
If I were you, I would ask for a replacement. And if denied by the service center, send another mail to Bajaj with the pic.I like 'em Naked
Blah Blah Blah!

Thanks, just was wondering if the 48 kmpl figure was measured by tank-full to tank-full.Originally posted by Rajathslr View PostTank to Tank everytime, city limits it gives 39kmpl and on hiway around 55kmpl sometimes..(wen the engines not stressed i.e 60kmph avg speed)
Have been running on normal petrol from my first tank-full, 1200+ km on the odo haven't found any problem yet touchwood

@Rishi - Mail customer support asking for clarification as the dealer is saying its nothing abnormal.

My bad! RPM1 indicator indeed does not work in 6th gear. I had overlooked that.Originally posted by samschenker View PostMy observation is that the gear shift indicator(blinking red light) for RMP1 doesn't come on while in 6th gear, it switches on only when RMP reaches the RPM2 mark.Last edited by shreeda; 04-05-2012, 03:15 PM.

Thats some impressive figures, Rajath... People will be amazed by this kind of mileageOriginally posted by Rajathslr View PostTank to Tank everytime, city limits it gives 39kmpl and on hiway around 55kmpl sometimes..(wen the engines not stressed i.e 60kmph avg speed)
...I got 38 on the first fill..will check later this week and update as well.
On another note, I just noticed this a couple of days back. When I let go of the throttle the speed decelerates pretty quickly. My friend said it cud be because the brake shoe is hugging on to the tire... I was of the thought this is how the Duke was built.. Are you guys facing this issue ?

The bike does have a rev limiter. It kicks in at 10,500 RPM on all gears. This has nothing to do with the RMP1/2 indicatiors though.Originally posted by Shubz View PostGentlemen - There is NO rev limiter as far as I know. There is only the shift indicator.
There is only a shift indicator. This is what I got to know from the owner of the service center where I got my Duke serviced today.
This bike definately needs an ECU remap, it is still producing power when it hits the limiter.
