First service
Hello everyone. I have clocked 600 kms on my duke till now. Now planning for the first service of my bike. Has anyone of you got their dukes serviced in either Delhi or noida ? What was your experience like? what were the costs incurred?
facing some issues of my own. getting a humming resonance type of sound from the front when i am at about 5k rpm. also the chain seems to be loose. i get a khat sound on small bumps. also chain makes a hissing noise in 5th and 6th gears.
can never see the coolant level from the indicator. coolant level has also dropped very much.
what is with the lingering smell of petrol after every top up? something smells funny here.
i was never able to get more than 45 kmpl on my display no matter what way i rode.
help, anyone?

@sivigshankarOriginally posted by sivigshankar View PostOn another note, I just noticed this a couple of days back. When I let go of the throttle the speed decelerates pretty quickly. My friend said it cud be because the brake shoe is hugging on to the tire... I was of the thought this is how the Duke was built.. Are you guys facing this issue ?
brake shoe hugging on to the tire??? interesting theory
On a serious note, it is normal. Engine braking on the Duke is more than what we are used to on other Indian bikes. It's mostly due to the high-compression, short-stroke nature of the engine.
Regarding the brakes, it is normal for the brake pads to lightly touch the discs during run-in. (Probably later too, but I'm not sure about that)I like 'em Naked

Thanks Nikhil... I am just waiting to get the first service done.. The ODO still reads 380+ only.. so have to do some serious mile crunching this weekend... I am getting used to the steep deceleration however a friend thought that it wasn't smooth when we don't accelerate.. so he kind off was concerned... Will ask the ASC guys over the weekend...Originally posted by NikhilB View Post@sivigshankar

I would like to give you guys a sneak preview of an anti theft alarm I am working on. My Duke is perhaps the only Bluetooth enabled bike in the country. Would you buy it if I sold it to you? : Duke Bluetooth Security Alarm Test 1 - YouTube

Awesome Mod sir , can you post the circuit for it and the changes needed to the bike wiring. Also can you share the 'Apk' just to get the hang of it.Originally posted by spiralbrain View PostI would like to give you guys a sneak preview of an anti theft alarm I am working on. I will post the details when it is complete. No change to the wiring is necessary, ive designed it to plug into the connector left in the bike for its original alarm. The Apk isnt ready either. at the moment it used a free app called blue scripts.

For how long do you ride generally? For any engine to run optimally, it needs to be at a particular temperature. In the morning, It takes about 4-5 Kms of ride to attain a temperature & then it gives mileage of > 40 kmpl (indicated).Originally posted by ikhan View Postyes. i have got the tyre pressure at the level prescribed on the chassis. that is the right one, right?
Any other inputs about my problems?Hero Honda Karizma

bluetooth alarm
Great job.. I'd be interested in buying as well.Originally posted by spiralbrain View PostI would like to give you guys a sneak preview of an anti theft alarm I am working on. However, I doubt over what range it would work. Bluetooth devices usally have a small range of around 10-15 meters.

If somehow you could get it working over the mobile networks as well it would be terrific...Live to ride.. ride to forget..
