  • [QUOTE=Shubz;779076]A couple of things that I noticed during my total of 90 km Odo reading so far,

There is a khat khat kind of noise near the swing arm when decelerating and the foot pegs.

PBK service is just behind my house (So NOT worried about service AT ALL). Showed it to them, and it was the chain that was slack and was slapping against the swing arm - Got it fixed.

Shubz first of all Thanks for being sucha responsible Duker to state this Khat khat problem and getting it fixed, this ws reported in some other thread also..

I am getting mine tomorrow, Pls let me know how to find out this problem in a new bike (problem area)and get it fixed before actually taking the bike out of the showroom..becs i don v a probike service station behind my house...

Shubz, please get rid of the plastic covering on metal parts. If will only aid rusting, nothing else.
I usually rip off all the plastics when I buy a new vehicle. Just on this - this is the second day, hectic schedule, excitement of getting the Duke, chain noise, foot peg stuff, urge to simply ride around the neighborhood etc - didn't get time to rip it off - add 3 days sabbatical too. so the first thing on returning - Strip! ( i mean - strip it of all the plastics)

Rajath - I am not saying every bike will have the issue. Out of so many only I have noticed the sound besides another person on another thread. It's easy - ride the Duke when its pretty quiet (I figured the sound at 2:30 AM while showing the bike to my colleagues). Ride in a gear - let the rpm be high say, 5k or 6 and gently decelerate - do not brake - let engine brake - so if the chain is slack - you will hear it slapping against the swing arm. If not - don't even worry about it.

Also please check for the foot pegs if they are loosely slung - since your feet will always be on the peg, its not an issue per se but we are all after perfection - aren't we?

i was talking about the rtr like agile-ness on releasing clutch.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

Yes something like that and a bit more agile - as I have ridden a RTR before (a test ride of my friends bike)

I had to lose hair anyway, so why in an enclosed cabin - It dawned upon me that the old flame of two-wheeler had been rekindled in me. There began the wonder - What urge is this? At this age? Some said mid-life crisis. Some said, a bike enthusiast/biker never grows old! Thus began my look out for a bike.
Holy mackerel, sailing in the same boat here. I just have to replace 'losing hair' with 'losing hair and graying hair' and voila, we got my story.

I would take this number with a pinch of salt. From what i understand about such numbers shown in cars (not in my old beat up Nissan Altima but in some rental cars i drove around in US), these are just indicative numbers. The instrumentation is 'guessing/predicting' rather than 'measuring'.
honda cars generally have the tendency of showing more mileage figure than the real time one,i don't know about the MFD ,may be real-time,may be indicative.

Of course, i never bother to really understand the workings of these and I might be completely wrong.
Yes it indeed is predicting. That's why I was also doing that 20% error calculation, and asking for brim to brim readings

What's up with this foot peg?? I did not understand.

No bro, both engines are very different. Only similarity is the 200 CC capacity.
the duke's engine is DOHC, while Pulsar NS is SOHC. You can check the Pulsar NS review on xbhp to check out other details and differences.

My friend.. Pulsar 200 Ns e/e is the same e/e of KTM but comes with a Single Over Head Cam (SOHC) instead of DOHC due to the presence of 3 Sparkplugs (Space constraint may be).Power of both bikes are different since KTM comes with FI wheras Ns comes with a UCD 33 carburettor (The largest one in india as of now considering its prior UCD 32 which is used in Pulsar 220).

Comparisons will happen in the initial stages when there are fewer owners posting. But it will pretty much settle down by the time you reach page #50 If you want, take a look at any other thread, you will find a similar pattern on other ownership threads too.

Anyways, How are the mirrors like? Usable or as useless as the P220? Somebody told me that 40% of mirror area is shows only the elbows (quite like on the P220).

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The foot pegs are spring loaded - which goes back a tad bit so the side stand can be engaged/disengaged.

The pegs are the hinge are a bit loosely sprung. So if you were make the bike straight - on its wheels - not mount it - disengage the side stand - it springs back into position - that action causes the foot peg to vibrate a bit - a bit more than its supposed to. Just a washer there - foot peg gets firmed up. Hope I have been able to explain it better.

There is no such thing as PDI It is all Pre-PDI'd (a new term) - names stuck on the bikes. There were two SA's/Technicians who were herding Duke owners around them and explaining things about keeping the revs limited, speed limited. when to change oil, when to service it. when to lube chain. what is on the console etc. But since there were huge number of people and each one wanted to ride out, they couldn't manage explaining a lot. For which there is the owners manual.
