every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

I was just riding normal. i have ridden as slow at 30 kmph (at stretches where there was denser traffic) and as fast at 87 kmph (on outer ring road). did nothing extra to get at that number. In fact I was reminded of that feature to check the FE by another Duke owner. Till then I was only concentrating on No sudden acceleration, No sudden braking.Originally posted by sayank10 View Posthow come the engine achieve such high fuel efficiency?so what was your riding like?constant 50 at 6 th gear??
Yeah and give me 1 set of all their power wear/power parts for free!Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostYou should be awarded by KTM for being such awesome brand ambassador

With such riding conditions, 50KmpL is too good to believe! I think you must be given "the best news provider of this thread" awardOriginally posted by Shubz View PostI was just riding normal. i have ridden as slow at 30 kmph (at stretches where there was denser traffic) and as fast at 87 kmph (on outer ring road). did nothing extra to get at that number. Seriously folks, I never tried to do anything different to achieve any numbers. Was only ensuring, no revving hard, no zig zagging, no screeching brakes, no jumping off from the start. the only thing i was doing consciously was (after ensuring its tarmac) was mostly using the front brakes for braking. And I don't think that contributed to the number.Originally posted by shreeda View PostWith such riding conditions, 50KmpL is too good to believe! I am away from the bike now and will be away for the next 3 days. So will have to come back and keep checking and updating on the same. Would appreciate if other owners could post pics showing Km/L figures too

I'm trying some math here. Even with a wildest error of say, 20%, the figure is 40. Which is still fantastic. At least I did not expect to even see such numbers on that MFD
Pulsar NS will be probably 3-5kmpl more I feel. Thanks to a less stressed engine.
shubz, you can lend your Duke to me. I will take up the responsibility of updating
On a serious note, can someone please try the full tank to full tank method for the measurement and update here?

A couple of things that I noticed during my total of 90 km Odo reading so far,
There is a khat khat kind of noise near the swing arm when decelerating and the foot pegs.
PBK service is just behind my house (So NOT worried about service AT ALL). Showed it to them, and it was the chain that was slack and was slapping against the swing arm - Got it fixed.
Got another washer put in on the foot pegs - So thats firm now.

one thing i want to know does it leap ahead when the clutch is released or just linear movement?
@shubj no offence taken, just for the sake of fun i made such remark.Last edited by sayank10; 03-01-2012, 10:07 PM.and the question remains why do i race?

Ok You aren't too much behind. I may come down to that number soon or you may come up to 50Originally posted by Abhishek2255 View PostMine is showing 44kmpl.
May depend on the riding habit. (FYI - I ain't any pro rider or something. Just the regular rider)
I know Sayank it was made in jest.Originally posted by sayank10 View Postone thing i want to know does it leap ahead when the clutch is left or just linear movement?

Was only treading carefully.
Regarding clutch release - it's in your hands I guess. At least I take "linear movement" mode but its close to a surge!

I agree. Leap or not will depend on the clutch release. Quick release will result in a leap.Originally posted by Shubz View Post

Shubz, please get rid of the plastic covering on metal parts. If will only aid rusting, nothing else.

I would take this number with a pinch of salt. From what i understand about such numbers shown in cars (not in my old beat up Nissan Altima but in some rental cars i drove around in US), these are just indicative numbers. The instrumentation is 'guessing/predicting' rather than 'measuring'.
Of course, i never bother to really understand the workings of these and I might be completely wrong.Prevention is better than cure. And often, a lot cheaper too.
