Yes it'll be plug and play for the kit provided by the company. Not sure if the specs (Voltage/power ratings etc, if any) of after market goods will match or not. I have not done much research on this so far.

    • some one here mentioned about hard suspension, I hope that can be adjusted, what with USD monoshock etc, I am really hoping for smooth sail on bumpy roads.need to watch out for my back.

You can only go as fast as you can brake!

From where did you get it made? Can you pls. tell..
        Pune or Mumbai?

Digged out an old thread at xBhp

Update: The Duke is one of the hardest machines to wash yourself. Some points that I learned yesterday when I washed her myself

        1. Right side is easy to clean; even through the frame.
        2. Left side is slightly difficult to clean since most of the exhaust plumbing resides there.
        3. Left side of the swingarm and alloy is a nightmare to clean in the absence of a good cleaning fluid and a paddock stand; our oil-can happy mechanics spray such a lot of lube that the chain sprinkles it everywhere and the swingarm + alloy turns greasy.
        4. Swingarm is so beautiful to look at but absolutely tricky to clean.
        5. Rear grab-rail can hurt your fingers while buffing away the polish
        6. Clips on hoses can cut your fingers while cleaning the left side of the bike.
        7. Front alloy is easy to clean provided the bike is on a paddock stand.
        8. Paddock stand needs to be mounted a bit away from the rear sprocket as the swingarm mount of the stand interferes with the sprocket and makes it difficult to turn the wheel while cleaning.
        9. Mounting the paddock stand away leaves one of the sides slightly off the paddock mount as the swing arm converges towards the chassis mount. Best way is to ensure that you clamp the mounts just before popping the bike up.
        10. Seat can grab a whole lot of fibers from a yellow cleaning cloth; best policy is to use a microfiber cloth.
        11. Radiator is easy to clean using a toothbrush and upward strokes with a trickle of water or a spray bottle.
Whoah! Quite a lot of steps to clean the bike.. Will try to remember the steps..

How can you be so sure whether that'll be a plug and play device. Is the place/holder already present for this on the bike?

i was on KTM website and i saw 1 alarm system but it required a mounting system which you are suppose to buy with the alarm.

It was the statement by the SVC guy who gave me the demo. He clearly told me that the plug is for center locking system. And when I said plug and play, I mean the electricals of it. I couldn't notice a mount under the seat as such.

That would be me. I do find the suspension hard for bad roads (not patchy roads, those bad ugly roads). But that's from the comfort POV. Softening the suspension will affect handling, GC etc. One needs to find the balance between handling and comfort.

Ok cool, I tried to look for it but couldn't find it, thanks.

Oil filter changed - Rs 92 with taxes
              Oil changed to Motul 7100 20W50 ---- from A.H.Helmets (andheri west) cost Rs 725 *2 = 1450

Just came to office after the service..

The below items will be replaced by KTM once in Stock
              - Rubber below the swingarm due to which the khat khat noise comes
              - Petrol round lock part will be replaced (not the lock but the area below which has 7 or 8 bolts) Falty - once removed cannot be fitted again hence replacement is required

              RPM1 set to 7.5k
              RPM2 set to 10k

              Experience after the Service
              - Gears are super smooth
              - No slips
              - Easy Neutral from 2nd and sometimes from 1st also
              - engine noise at high RPM is reduced .....touched top speed of 110 at 8k RPM at Bandra higway (while returning from Ghatkoper)

advised by the Service stations guys .......do not touch the rear suspension setting now .....can change in the next service.

              Thks
              Yogesh
Thanks for the update, can you tell us if you were charged for the filter only in the service? Did you change the oil as per your own wish? does it feel better using synthetic oil?

Petrol round part, will this be changed for every Duke? or was yours just faulty?

Also does the engine feel less noisy at low RPM's?

Yes i was charged only for the filter as i had purchased the Oil from Andheri west(A.H.Helmets)

Cost of Filter is 72 but with taxes had to pay 92
And yes the engine is less noisy at low or high RPM

gears are real smooth....prior to service gears were like i have to kick hard to get 2nd from 3 or 2nd to neutral or 1 ..........but now its fantastic .....no more issues .........

Petrol round part is falty on all dukes ..... if the lid is removed and then it wont fit again ......... these issues were encountered at the Training sessions conducted by KTM engineers for all the authorized service ppl ..........

hi, i also had some issues with gears, especially 5th and 6th since i found the travel of the gear lever too much while riding with "normal" shoes. i changed the gear lever, set it one "position" down and now it works perfect for me.
