    hey guys, came across this....

    Radiator Guard - KTM 125/200 Duke (2011) - RAD0108

Performance Racing Store, Mumbai has this for the CBR250 so i expect they should get it for the duke200 soon... as for those worried about voiding warranty, check out the "fitting instructions", its just a screw on job so we can screw the old one on when needed

PS: another thing that really interested me, a protector for the rear shocks against dirt and stuf, something of priority in our country

      Issues noticed:

Bike stalling/sputtering when taking off in 1st or 2nd gear.
      Slight chain noise.

Reported it to the SVC today. Chain tightened and lubed.

About stalling/sputtering - the mechanic blew air through the tank lid vents. dust and oil spewed out of the keyhole. (may not be the cause of sputtering) but said they would look at the mapping etc during 1st service (due in about 400 kms)

Engine not sounding as refined. Sounding coarse now. An oil change/filter change during service should take care of this.

Asked about the rubber cover for the chain/replacing tank lid etc - SVC guy said that would happen when the stocks arrive.
Same issues as you. The Chain makes a loud noise like it is hitting something. becomes more apparent when riding with a pillion. The engine stalls without warning at low RPM. The engine sounds like it is scratching and makes a light tak tak noise. I've booked for an inspection this Sunday. Hope nothing is wrong.. Ive still got over 670Kms to first service and just 28 days left.

yes the chain noise is due to the touching to the swingarm (its lacking a rubber fitting which will reduce or stop the nosie)
        - currently the SVC guys have not received the stock

Secondly the tak tak noise i have experience this today while coming to office ........ going tomorow to Ghatkoper for get it resolved as the service was just done yesterday......... i believe its the noise from the chain section only as i feel its lil tight

Thanks Yogesh. I hope they have it in stock. It wouldn't be a good sight looking at a swing arm scratched by the chain. I took a look at it today and I think there is some plastic thing on the swingarm already but it is not enough. About the tak tak noise, in my case it appears when I rev the bike and the bike is stationary. From the engine that is. to me it sounds more like a tappet noise, to resolve this the head cover would have to be opened and tappets re adjusted. Please keep us updated with the outcome.

in my case the nosie isn't from the tappet .............i checked it twice at night ....... slided down the bike on the side stand and rotated the rear tyre ........the nosie comes somewhere near the small spocket from chain only

also when tried to move backwards the nosie does not comes, it comes when the bikes moves ahead

Nothing will be wrong. These are all initial settling down issues. Chain - please get it lubed/tightened every 500 kms.

Tak Tak noise surely won't be the tappet noise. Hope you are using premium fuel.

If you ride on a downhill on a quiet night, you will hear a whirr of a noise from near the small sprocket. as long as it is not loud, it is nothing but the chain sliding over the sprocket. metal against metal. Hope you have had your chain lubed/tightened at least once after taking delivery.

Relax guys, there is NOTHING wrong with the engine. You cannot get a tappet noise this soon unless it has been badly abused.

Regarding the fuel lid - it is not a show stopper. How many times would one remove the fuel lid off its screws?

Svc centers do not have stock of lids, rubber bushing etc. And it is still not clear if everybody would get this replaced/added.

Oh ok then surely its a chain issue, slightly loosening the chain will fix it.

Thanks Shubz, I guess it is a part of the run in process. I am using premium fuel yes, It is knocking perhaps. I am not too worried about the fuel lid, Just the Rubber. I will check on its status this Sunday.

                • Got my bike serviced 2day.Had gone yesterday to book the service, the mech was kind enough and asked me to get the bike 2day and sit and get the bike serviced in front of my eyes.As mentioned above by someone about the 2 issues they were facing with the bike one being when shifted from higher gear to a lower gear and then again on giving the throttle the bike gives a jerk and second being the bike goes off on holding the clutch (sometimes),i was facing the same problem and the same was reported to the service guys...he said there some issue with the clutch setting and he set it .I doubt this is the issue but just thought would check and see if the problem still exists.

Also got the crash pads fixed, uploading the pic for the same.

First service was done at 1046 kms.
Oil used - motul semi synthetic
parts changed - oil filter and a coolant top up was done.

The bike now feels more smoother, smoother gears and she more responsive.

                  The work done in servicing.
                  1) Water wash
                  2) Chain was loose and was fixed and lubricated.
                  3) Battery checked and terminals lubricated.
                  4) brakes cleaned using a brake cleaner spray.
                  5) airfilter was removed and the dust was cleaned.
                  6) oil change.
                  7) coolant top up.
                  8) crash pads were fixed.
and small other things that i don remember. Was very happy with the service and the way things at the probiking worked out.

Looking good there! How much was it Rs.2182 for the pair of crash pads or for the swing arm pair in addition? And did you just put it up front or for the swing arm too?
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

                        • Cleaning the bike is one hell of a job. Went through a muddy road few days back, the complete front part of the engine and the radiator is covered with mud. Its really hard to clean both. Have to somehow extent the front mudguard to prevent this. I dont think KTM guys would provide any solution to this.

You guys should also join the FB community for the duke 200. I guess Gsferraris cousin is the brains behind that. A group of owners always help in sharing information and little tricks and all. The N650 group has been a brilliant collection of interesting tid bits and information and even some brilliant group pruchases!
That would be me. The group is on the same lines as your N650 owners group, and everyone is invited. Intention is to include people not on xbhp, in the quest for accessories, as well as knowledge sharing. It is here

Additionally, I have been riding from Thane to Andheri (W) (34kms one way, 60% highway 30% traffic 10% inner city gullies)for the past few days, and have figured out some tweaks I need:
                            1. Handlebar could be 4-5 degrees pushed upwards.
                            2. Gear shift lever is too high, need to bring it lower. Toolkit lacks the required tools for this adjustment.
                            3. Mirror stalks need adjustment, as I can only see my own biceps in the mirrors, again the toolkit doesn't have the spanner for the job.
                            4. Worried I'm going to scratch the tank just in front of the rider seat, dont think a tank pad is the solution, need paint protection there.
                            5. The footrest on the left moves around when I'm shifting. Less than ideal that. Shubz suggested a washer? Will try that this weekend.

                            • Even I'm looking for paint protection. Bengaluru folks, any one has a solution yet? Afaik, bikes have thinner paint layers compared to cars. So, paint protection meant for cars may be a little risky, no? If not, 3M is located quite close by for me

And what about chain cleaner? Has anyone bought one yet? I asked for it at Khivraj motors, they said they use diesel!
