Good stuff Abhi.. But honestly I don't believe that number. either in your bike or mine! I was when I saw the 50 Km/L on mine. Will have to keep checking (not that I am mileage conscious - just to validate the number) when people have been crying hoarse out here on FE!

Anyways, to be true, it may "sound" like a roadrunner beep!!!, but well, maybe on a higher note???

It would be pretty good for "city traffic"...

PS: May be i could be wrong, cuz I heard it during my TD in a nearly isolated road and it sounded well... Who cares abt the horn, jus rev it hard, the exhaust makes the way ;-) ...

The speedo is connected to the rear wheel on a Suzuki GS150R. The only benefit I can see in doing that is people can see their speed when they wheelie. Thats what, I think, he was trying to ask.

@others I wonder why the magazines were so critical about Duke's mileage.. The running in mileages are working out better than even the P220s !

What remains to be seen is what FE you guys get when you guys stop babying the bike around .
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Jyo - Yes I was really being sarcastic but in a pleasant way. am glad you didn't take me wrong. I don't agree with you sir. The horn is very very feeble when compared to the din in the traffic is concerned. I am learning not to use the horn as I have personally felt, its a disgrace for the stature of the Duke!

You are perfectly right - Just rev it - people turn around. so no need of the Roadrunner.

Antz bro - That was indeed an innocent question, not to ruffle any feathers. I really don't know what is connected to the rear wheel. I always thought all the metering stuff was connected to the front.

As I mentioned earlier - The last thing I ever thought of was the FE. While fiddling around with the Mode/Set buttons on the console, I stumbled upon this and another xbhpian made me realize that I can always check the FE and then there were talks of 16-20-30 (i was lynched for jokingly quoting 16-20 - i was asked if I work for Bajaj or if Bajaj guys consult me before doing anything)

I don't know, I may look at the damn FE figure another time or two. I am more concerned on clocking 1000

I just got the chain freshly lubed and set as it was slapping against the swing arm. and got the front foot pegs fixed. Will keep updating on my experience irrespective of what other techies have to feel/comment

(OT: I have always loved interacting with you!)

            • Hi All xBhpians!!

My first post. Became a member a while ago but didn't post till today. Been following u all for quite a while.......Finished formalities @ Probiking I'ngr today and waiting for delivery. Wednesday is what they've said.
FYI, the get back to biking bug caught me almost a year ago. Since then it's been which one - Ninja 650, Hyosung 650 Naked, Ducati 795, etc. But the Duke came along and changed everything!!! Many factors came into play for selection of the Duke - regular street commuter, easy riding stance, fast paced, lesser monies......
Thanks to all u fellow mates for making this decision easier.
              Cheers!!!

Hey Shubz when you say the chain was loose and slapping against the swing arm was there any damage to the swing arm? Because if there was the company should ideally get it replaced for you since they Gave you the bike with a loose chain to begin with!!! I will definitely look out for the chain slackness and the loosely sprung foot pegs when I'm called to collect my KTM!!! Oh and yeah We still waiting for Deliveries here for the second lot of KTM 200 Dukes to be delivered to their anxious owners here in Mumbai :-p

Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

Some others here might be much more interested in the FE your bike is returning than you yourself. Especially the gentleman who just nominated your name for mod. Apparently he is getting a R15v2 ONLY because He wouldn't have been able to afford the 25kmpl advertised by the magazine peeps (Even though I clearly showed him how it doesn't make much of a difference). So if I were you, I would take every chance to rub it in .

Why would anyone feel bad about anyone sharing valuable 1st hand info on Duke ownership? Keep at it. There is a lot you have to report as the miles pile on.

                    Antz bhai, thats rude.

I never said anything ill about the Duke. I was asking about the FE (okay, maybe in a wrong tone and I humbly apologize).

But that 50kmpl can still not be believed to be true.

Josh bhai - thats a good question. I was in a hurry to leave the town on some work. So couldn't really bend and check what damage is done if any. But first thing on returning home is to look for any damage whatsover.

I don't care if anybody feels bad. I am only stating facts. I love to see analysis of things reported. and I hope I am reporting with evidence.

And yeah - girls will be girls! (you must've seen at least two attempts from my side - but the reciprocation is - katti katti katti! lol

Chill Biker bro - Antz is never rude. NEVER! and its a free world, you are free not to believe what you see. as I said earlier, even I don't believe it (fully though).

Just waiting to get back home - the next week should be interesting as I would be riding more and more of it - if my house was big enough - i would probably have ridden it inside my home too - to munch up the magic 1000km figure ASAP! Just missed a 180+ kms ride cos of my being out of BLR! But will surely make up for the loss.

Aditya - where are you sir!?!

From last two day I'm seeing a Duke in that area at around 8 pm.

That must be my good friend Deb. I live close by - BSK 2nd stage but I am 400+ kms away from my Duke right now.

How is he riding? nice and easy? else will have to kick his rear end for abusing the Duke this early.

when the first lot was delivered - guys were simply too excited - so when KTM folks asked them to switch on the bikes - each one of them in the front row - went about molesting the revs on the engine! lol - such a commotion that drew a few hundred people to wonder what's happening.

There is a bakery over there and some of us bikers, meet up everyday there around that time. Saw the Duke as well.
I assume that he stays very close to that and he was not wearing a lid. He was riding sanely.
